  1. Thankyou I forgot a five piece black Billet grille and window tinting. Garrell
  2. Several times per day I have changed my mind to sell or not to sell my baby, 2003 Black SS Silverado but after much deliberation this past weekend I decided to sell. I am getting old enough I need to start one last build and I am going trade or sell my Competition Yellow 95 Corvette as my Parkinson's and Rheumatoid Arthritis have gotten so bad that I am having a difficult time getting in and out of it. My C5 has got a home as long as I am here on earth and it might make a good casket. I bought the 2003 truck in 2004 I think and it has almost 55,000 mostly road miles on it. It has never been wrecked or repainted anywhere. It has always been garaged in a heated and cooled garage, waxed about once every six weeks and wiped down with Lucas spray wax and microfiber towels. There is not a thread out of place on the interior and the leather is treated with McGuires leather cleaner/conditioner. The oil is changed every seven months because it doesn't accumulate enough miles. Below is a list of modifications that have been made to the truck and approximately when: 1- K&N Cold Air Kit, three years ago t 2-HP Tuneup three years ago 3- Ported Throttle Body, three years ago 4- BBK Headers with Doug's Headers Remote Control Electric Cutouts 5- Comp Cams Cam, Lifters, and pushrods, I have the specs and I will send them by email to seriously interested. Installed first of last years with only 5,000 miles on it. 6- F.A.S.T. LSXrt intake manifold and new fuel rails, installed summer of last year. 7- Custom Built Extreme Torque Converter based on the cams specs, other modifications and the gearing and tire height, installed last fall and works great. 8- Shift kit installed by performance transmission shop. 9-HP Tuneup redone last fall. 10- Nitto 420S tires installed 2000 miles ago. 11- Red Hockey stripe painted from 6.0 Billet badge at front of front fender tapering off to nothing in the middle of back doors. Tasteful old school pinstriping at front of hood and under tailgate latch. 12- Trifold Tonno Cover that fits great. 13- The Speedometer works correct about half the time and the temp gage quit working two years ago. I just drive by the tach and had an Autometer temp gage installed two years ago. I just haven't had time to put a new instrument cluster in. The engine will hold 40lbs. Of pressure at a warm idle and on up as RPM'S increase. Nothing leaks or drips under the truck. The original wheels have no road rash and are kept waxed. When my Pinstriper did the work on the truck he painted the little Bowtie in the center of each wheel red also. Because of suffering 100 % memory loss after having three strokes within a month after having a massive heart attack almost five years ago I can't comprehend or follow written or verbal instructions I cannot post pictures as hard as I try but if you will send me your email address I will get pictures emailed to you. I know if you have owned or driven one of these trucks I don't have to tell you how great they drive and there is not a vehicle on the road that handles or is as. Comfortable as these are and the 500 HP makes it better than before. Price sitting in my shop and you pickup and drive away or have it picked up Is $22,000.00 That is exactly what the Blue Book shows on a truck such as mine and the value has gone up in value each of the last three years. Thanks
  3. These parts were removed from a very well maintained LQ9 Engine. 1- 4l60e Torque Converter 2-Stock LQ9 Cam 3-Stock LQ9 Lifters 4-Stock LQ9 Rocker Arms 5-Stock LQ9 Lifters 6-Stock LQ9 Push Rods 7-Stock LQ9 Valve Springs 8-Stock LQ9 Intake Manifold 9-LQ9 Stock Intake Manifold Cover and Valve Covers I am not sure what the above is worth so if anyone is interested send me an offer to: [email protected], shipping will have to be added extra. Thank You
  4. Blown 346, sorry I forgot to thank you. Does anyone know what the trailer hitch assembly weigh?
  5. I hope I don't have to use the pins but when I call in the morning I am going to ask if the latch that comes with the hood is good for 140 MPH. I plan on not painting because I love the carbon fiber look and the finish on the VIS Carbon fiber is supposed to be superior to other mfgrs. The truck will always be garaged and I understand that you just wax it like you would the balance of the truck. If I have to use hood pins I will use the ones you can buy from VIS and I definitely would not try drilling into the hood myself.
  6. Do any of you run a carbon fiber hood and if so what is your experience with them. After research it looks like the hood sold by Octain Motorsports is the one to use and they have hoods for the 03-05 SS Silverado trucks on sale right now for $594.00 and I found the same hood from other suppliers for $1,300.00. My problem is I would have to have it on by middle of week after next, they are in stock and would ship tomorrow if I order in the morning. It would ship from Ca. to Georgia so I would need assurance from them that it would be here by weeks end. If you run with one do you use the hood pins? Thanks
  7. You misunderstood, we run a measured standing mile with a mile to stop. The truck was programmed to shift at 6200 RPMs and it dropped to 4000 RPMs. I have ran it on a section of county road where there is no traffic during the day. And there is almost 2 1/2 miles of straight road with no intersecting roads. I have made three runs there backing off after the shift into third gear. We changed the shift points to 5800 RPM and a shift kit was installed when the converter was installed. There is basically no noticeable drop from 1 to 2 and 2 to 3, no snapping of your next just an institanios shift. The Convertor is programmed to go into lockup at WOT in 3rd gear at 5,000 I think, I can't remember what the final decision was between the engineer at Extreme Convertors, my Transmission guy and the tuner who all had a phone conveyance. And I promise there was only around a 200 RPM drop, it reminded me of the shifts in a fast 37 Chevy Drag truck I had last year with a built turbo 350 transmission which you could not see any noticeable drop in RPMS when it shifted.
  8. I set my first of the six landspeed I own in 2010 on the Maxton Mile Eight months after getting out off a wheelchair which my Doctors told my Wife I would never get any betters, I now walk with the use of a walking stick because of Parkinson's Desease and Rheumatoid Artritis and Lupus!
  9. Just driving around town other than getting use to having to use more RPM to get rolling you notice no difference in the up shifts and I haven't noticed how many RPM it drops but it doesn't build pressure or jerk you neck when it shifts. At WOT it almost immediately goes into the next gear. The transmission guy put a shift kit in it and said to tell my tuner that he would firm up the shifts internally because if you tried to increase the firmness in the tuneup it would build up line pressure. Makes it sound like you know what the hell you are talking about when you keep all of the notes! But it does work and that is all I am interested in. I will post my results when I get back on May 6TH.
  10. Two or three months ago I told here in the forum of my disappointment back in Sept. when I landspeed raced my 03 SSS on the Ohio Mile and even though I had around 75 more HP than I did in April of last year. The truck left hard and ran better than it ever has but it was 5 MPH slower than April and around 7 to 9 MPH slower than I expected it to be. The only thing I noticed was when the truck made the 1 to 2nd. shift it dropped 2,000 RPM'S and never recovered. I thought it but when I asked here everyone said torque Convertor. I had Edge Performance Convertors in Calfornia build a custom Convertor after I gave them the specs on the cam and a list of all the performance modifications that had been performed. My transmission man installed the Convertor, a shift kit and use a synthetic fluid to fill it back up. Andre the owner of Edge Convertors assured me that when the up shifts were made that it should not lose but around 500-600 RPM but in testing it three times at wide open throttle the most I lost was 200 RPM. It didn't jerk or snap it just immediately shifted to the next gear as smooth as glass. Thanks for suggestions that it was probably the Convertor and if there isn't a really bad headwind I should comeback with landspeed records by breaking records I had already set.
  11. It's not that fast the cam and the LSXrt intake are more for top speed which I hope on May 3,4 that it will run 137 to 140 MPH in the standing mile. It is not used up in one mile it takes a lot of torque getting a 6,000 truck moving, I think if we ran 1 1/2 miles it would run over 145 before it started to run out of gearing. It has ran 13.96 in the 1/4 mile which is no slouch I guess.
  12. My SSS has a five piece black billet grille and smoked covers over all lights. I etched the Bowtie and painted it the same color red that I had the hockey stripe painted and also painted the small Bowtie in the center of the wheels the same color. The truck now has around 500 flywheel HP and I hold six landspeed records in it. I will run it on May 2&3 for the first time with the new Torque in it and should get three or four more Landspeed records by trying to reset my own records if the winds aren't angry. The 97 Formula Firebird has 71,000 miles and is in mint condition and doesn't have a single door dent or ding and the interior is as clean as the exterior. It has subframe connectors, adjustable torsion bars and shocks and a tower brace and polyurethane bushing along with long tube headers, Arizona Speed and Marine throttle body and mass airflow sensors along with equal length headers and should be great for Autocross which I want to try when I can locate a club that holds them. The 98 Corvette has 21,000 miles on it and has around 400 rear wheel HP and I carry it to the dragstrip about four times a year, I bought my first Corvette when I was eighteen and carried it to the dragstrip I guess the next weekend and I pretty much have had a Corvette constantly since then filling in the gaps with four new Z/28'S and 409 and 427 SS Impalas. I am recovering from a heart attack followed within a month by three strokes that deleted my memory and put me in a wheelchair for two years and the Docs told my Wife that I would never be any better. The grace of a God and a loving supportive family got me through the critical time but the day that my two Daughters rolled to a nice building behind our house and turned the lights on and I saw the beautiful cars and truck I knew then I had to work hard and get out the wheelchair and drive again. Today I walk very slowly and lean heavily on my custom walking stick due to Parkinson's Desease and Rheumatoid Arthritis with chronic pain being my worst enemy..
  13. I got the SS RS Indy Pace Car on the road last week after sitting in back of my shop for nine years. I won't go into detail but because of three strokes I can't comprehend and follow instructions therefore I can't post pictures. If you would send me your email address I will send you a picture of the Camaro and my SS Silverado and would appreciate it if you would post them in an appropriate place. If anyone will step up send your address to: [email protected]
  14. My truck had been tuned for quite awhile when I was convinced I was losing to many horse power to the track with my stock Convertor. I had a custom Convertor built by Edge Performance Convertors. He built it after getting my cam specs, other modifications and the end use. I had the Convertor installed along with a shift kit and used synthetic fluid then I carried it to my tuner and had the tuneup tweaked.
  15. When I do stop in I will ask him if we could go see it and if I could take some pictures. He an my Brother in Law who dude to own a Dodge dealership have been friends for over 50 years. They must have 500 to 700 hundred cars in their yard right now and I counted at least 8 men that were going and finding parts for people then when they have time they pull engines and transmissions, radiators, Convertors etc and enventory them.
  16. I have been doing a partial restoration to a mint 69 SS RS Indy Pace Car Camaro convertible and I stooped at a large junk yard owned by a 78 year old man that I haven't seen in years. He actually stocks some new aluminum heads, Ralleye wheels, beauty rings and center caps. He has built some super nice hotrods over the years. We visited awhile and he said I have been hearing a lot about your truck and the landspeed records you have set. I was telling him a little about my truck and how at 53,000 miles it still looked like new and showed him a picture of it with a black billet grille with a bright red bow tie in the center of it and red hockey stripes. Then he says " Oh they are really nice and ride so comfortable, I have one up at the house with just 17,000 miles on it and I need to get it out and clean it up. I didn't ask then if he wanted to sell it because I didn't want to appear to be to anxious but I new that the Blue Book value on a low mile 03 SS is around $21,500.00. I may wait a couple of weeks and drop back in and ask him if he would price it. He may not be interested but I think it could be bought for $17,000.00 to $18,000.00.
  17. A couple of months ago I told you about my let down landspeed racing on the Ohio Mile in Sept. Where with a new Comp Cam kit and an LSXrt I ran 5 to 6 MPH slower than I did in the spring without those two changes. The truck ran great, pulled hard and never missed or faltered in anyway but it did drop from 6200 RPM to 4000 on the 1to2 shift and never recovered consistently on four runs. All of you said torque Convertor. I had suspensioned that but I had never really research converters and realized how much HP is lost to the track through them. I talked in length with Andre the owner of Edge Performance Convertors in California. He wanted the specs on the cam, intake, distance ran etc. He designed a custom Convertor for my truck and after reading review after review I turned him loose to build the Convertor which was wound of all carbon fiber material. I also talked with my transmission guy who owns a Corvette with over 600 rear wheel HP and is very performance oriented. The Convertor is in now plus he installed a shift kit, serviced the transmission and installed a synthetic fluid and said the internals of the truck looked great. I have an appointment with my tuner next Tuesday to tweak the tuneup. I have made four passes on a stretch of county road that is flat and straight for over 1 1/2 miles and you can watch a hill beyond that and if no one drops down in it you no the road is yours. The truck is tuned to shift at 6200 RPM and on each pass it only dropped 200-300 RPM on each shift on each pass. My truck only has 52,000 miles on it, has always been garaged and I have added some custom touches to it and it looks great. The question is should I leave the shift points at 6200 or would I stand a chance of hurting something in the engine if I bumped it to 6400-6500 RPM. Remember this is a standing me and reaction time and ET'S mean nothing, only top speed. If I run well and the winds aren't angry I can set three more landspeed records by resetting my own records giving me 9 or 10. I would like to hear some expert opinions from you guys and girls if any. Thanks Garrell
  18. It was just a suggestion for a location in the Southeast with a track open two nights per weekend and lots of other venues and attractions. It seems if I make a post no matter how hot a thread is it dies. My apologies for trying to participate I will just visit and look but not participate from here on.
  19. It's Brainerd Optimist Dragstrip and like so many tracks it was built in the 70's a 1/4 mile track and cars got to fast and they switched to 1/8 mile. And I forgot that Coker Tire is the old Honest Charley's Speed shop. The dragstrip has Test N Tune on Friday nights and Bracket racing on Saturday nights.
  20. There is a track at Chatoonoga, Tn. Can 't remember the name of it Interstate 75 runs right by it you can even see it from the Interstate. One of the largest aquariums in the U.S. Is there, Lookout Mountain Park is there, a waterfront with a dinner boat cruise. 2 1/2 hrs. On I-75 from Atlanta and probably the same from Charlotte, Chickamauga Battle Ground Park and a large winery twenty minutes away. And it in the South, Oh Coker Tire Car Museum and Restoration shop are in town and it was one of the stops on last years HotRod Magazine Power Tour, and it is in the South.
  21. Then move to the sunny south, we are expected an ice storm of catastrophic proportions for the next two days and nights. Major power outages are predicted as most power lines are run overhead , schools and businesses are closed but we still don't say yous guys and I'll will have a pop. But then you don 't call a crowd of more than one ya'll!
  22. If there was a leak bad enough to lose power steering wouldn't there be an obvious wet area around the hoses or even possibly still be leaking and leave a wet area under the truck. Hope it didn't hit hard enough to damage the steering column or the power steering pump itself ?
  23. I am amazed it's going to be bad!
  24. I was here once before and three strokes erased my mental data bank and I am talking 100% deleted. But I was blessed that when I started coming in from the fog , so to speak, I had a shop with four beautiful hotrods in it. One of them was my 03 black SS Silverado which is the best running, driving not to mention riding of all of my rides. I have a pretty bad back and I can go on a hour long trip in any of my other cars or in my Wife's Chrysler van and I will be tired and my back hurting but if I make the same trip in my SSS and I feel rested and my back doesn't bother me and the big plus is it's fun to drive. What SS truck do you have, stock or radical or somewhere in between?
