  1. I was going to post this in suspension but figured its more of a general question so I chose here instead. The 2/4 was great until the other weekend another single cab with a 4/6 drop on chrome SS wheels parked next to me and made my 2/4 look like a stock height truck ... I was shooting for a 4/7 so it would sit level but my friend kept telling me 5/8 it. First I thought he is crazy, but the more I thought about it how much worse could it be than driving a 4/7? I'm sure by doing this it will actually sit two inces lower rather than 1 like you would think because of the tire downsize, but I've never seen a truck 5/8 in person to know how low it really is. So I figure I would ask for you guys opinion, I've already priced kits out and am ready to make a purchase. I just don't wanna go 4/7 and wish I went lower or go 5/8 and hate life because I scrape going over every bump in the road. I just want to be as low as I can be and still daily drive it, I drive on the highway and out of town some too so keep in mind I may hit some nasty dips going 75 mph lol. Let me know what you guys think!

Here's a picture of the guy parked next to me, 4/6 drop on 275/45/20s, I'm 2/4 on 285/50/20.

  2. Honestly this is probably one of the best forums I have been a part of. Although some people do get carried away in arguments, I feel for the most part everyone here is quite helpful. I know I have learned a lot and gone a long ways being a part of it and its a big thanks to the great community here.

  3. Anybody have a front bumper laying around? Preferably oem, my streetscene one always bothered me. Reason I ask is a horse trailer in my town ripped into mine yesterday and drove off, I am devastated :(. I know it will need brackets as well but I will take what I can get. Let me know! Thanks.

    - Edit -

Last week somebody backed into my front bumper, AGAIN :(. I talked to the body shop who will be doing the work and they printed off an estimate but told me it would be cheaper for me to find a complete one rather than them buy one from the dealership, so I'd appreciate it if anyone could get to me with a front bumper cover, any of the brackets, ducts, silver grills, etc. Thank you so much! Have their insurance cash in hand ready to buy if I can get a good deal, if not I suppose I will be buying a new one.. Lol.

  4. Well earlier today a horse trailer in town took out my front bumper and drove off :( ... I am very sad about the whole deal but I guess life happens. At the moment I have a street scene one but it has always bothered me that it is one piece instead of separate. I was looking into getting an OEM or maybe a perfect replica one, any suggestions? Also I know that the street scene one works as a bumper cover and bolts right onto the bumper, will the OEM one work the same? Thanks.

  5. I was wondering what size tire you guys would recommend on a 4/6 drop running on OEM ss wheels? The reason I ask is I have seen several people say that the 275/45/20 rubs, but then again their offset may have been different. I hit the side of the bed often with my tire sidewall running a 285/50/20 on a 2/4 drop and don't want this to happen when I go lower. Thanks!

  6.

to solve the problem completely so you will still have full suspension travel you should notch your frame. I have yet to do mine because iv been a lazy turd and want to burn mine in instead of bolting it in, but the notch will give you the clearance you need.

I was afraid of that.. If I'm notching though I'll just 4/6 the truck, that's the only reason I haven't yet! That and I have 285/50/20 and that sounds like rubbing issues lol.

  7. After putting that 2/4 mcgaughys kit on my rcsb clone I have bottomed out EVERYWHERE. Today I got under the truck and saw the passenger side bumpstop cleared about an inch, while the driver side was pushing on the axle... I took both of the bumpstops off and trimmed them down to where I have around an inch and 1/4 of clearing from the axle to bumpstop and drilled them but it still rides rough on big dips. I was wondering what the best aftermarket bumpstop would be and was hoping one of the pros like norcal could shoot me in the right direction. I hear the pancake ones are as hard as a rock, but hitting those every once in awhile may be better than constantly riding soft bumpstops.

  8. If me having a real ss Isn't a big deal to you, then why did you try to be like the rest? Clone, fake, wannabe, they're all similar in meaning.

I don't know this guy posting this step side truck with SS badges. But people do it all the time. Shoot how many Harley Davidson Chevys are out there? Alot, gm never made one, ford did! I hate all SS badges on non ss vehicles and my main reason? When you get toasted buy a Hemi and he brags to his buddies that he beat an SS, then we all get the rap that all SS trucks are slow.

Stop singling this guy out, cause to the uneducated buyer, yours is no different, which makes you no better.

    Now please move on.

I think it would be different if he was building an extended cab SS Clone or something as you can buy the real deal, but since GM never made a single cab version I don't see what is wrong with him building one? I know Thomas has dropped a lot of hard work and money into that truck, surely we can all appreciate that. I know I do.

  9. Ya there's a few look up reflexxion.

I'll try and look up the other companies after work but there all the same style

I went looking on their site and the only one I saw that fits a 2006 is this one. It is a good looking hood but not as in your face as I'm looking for. Thanks though man looking forward to hearing some more suggestions.
