  1. That was great. The best thing is the one guy was probably about to kill the other guy but the Australian was just having a good time.
  2. So there should be a casting number on the crank somewhere. But the injectors and all that crap are the same?
  3. He said it has 4.8/5.3 stamped in the block. I don't care what it is I'm still gonna use it I'd just like to know which.
  4. I'm getting an engine in trade for some labor and I'm wondering how I can tell which it is, the guy can't tell me for sure which it is. I'm hoping to figure it out without opening the engine up. I'll be changing the oil pan but other than that its going in as is.
  5. Just swaybar bushings and links... Arm bushings aren't hard if you have the torsion bar tool... Thanks for the compliments, I'm pretty happy with how it turned out.
  6. I used the energy poly bushings. Cost about $20 at autozone If you get the link. $12 or so for just bushings and washers.
  7. Mine isn't jumping off.... Odd that others are having this issue. Also, convenience for me... I'm a manager at an autozone and dayco is our "nice" belt so that is what h use without issues.
  8. The I've never cared for the gator back belts. Seems like they wear too fast. The dayco number is 5040378 which is what I have on mine but honestly it seems weird that they're jumping off... I know mine was a bear to get on there.
  9. That guy is also 5+ hour drive. I don't even have to have real ss rims, I'm cool with replicas.. So my "plan b" is to have my wife and/or parents get me 1 rim each time a gift giving time comes around. The boss 330's look good, just not what I want. So I'm honestly not in too much of a hurry. It's just that this possible deal came up do I was getting opinions on the Tahoe rims.
  10. Keep an eye on that fuel pump relay. If it stays hot, be ready to replace that pump
  11. That's only $400 more than I have. I'm serious when I said I have no money. Lol. I got my truck for free by doing trades. Only way I could afford to go buy ss wheels is by selling my other car.... And I'm not doing that.
  12. What kind of belts are you guys using? I put a dayco belt on mine (original ac, tensioner and balancer) the belt was a bitch to get on but I haven't had any issues. I know my little 5.3 doesn't make much power compared to most of your trucks but I beat the hell out of it on a regular basis.
  13. The excessively hot fuel pump relay makes me also still think pump... Bad pump= high resistance. Also, I know there is an updated fuel pump connector for a lot of these trucks so if you have the old style connector, that could be a contributing factor.
  14. It's just $1200 more than I have to spend.
  15. Yea, from a cash stand point it's a smart trade on my part.... And honestly, if I don't end up with ss wheels, these are nice factory wheels that I think will look good on my truck
  16. Ok so first off, I'm broke so I have to horse trade myself into what I want when I want it.... Whose few ppl that read my into thread know this. I also do not want 22" wheels because I like the ride I have now. I currently have black with polished lip boss 330's on my 04 silverado (not ss) but I'm more of a clean factory wheel kinda guy. I love the ss wheels, but they're way out of budget ($150 ish a wheel means about $600 out of budget. Lol) so anyway, I had a guy come into my store today with an 08 ish LTZ Tahoe with the plain aluminum 20's.... He had a flat, and was buying tools to change it. Before he left we started talking about trading wheels. I told him I'd give him the boss 330's with decent tires and I'd take his wheels (including the flat tire as I have 2 spare tires in the garage) and he seems pretty interested. My question is should I do it? Do people ever trade ss wheels for these Tahoe rims? Anyway, I'm going to attempt to post a picture of my truck and the horrible pic of his Tahoe just so we can be on the same page as to what wheel he has.
  17. To rule out cats, loosen the mid pipe at the manifolds.... But most times, clogged cats aren't that bad at idle. I guess you could just pull the front o2 sensors. I too had thought fuel pump, but it seems odd that it would just shut off suddenly. That fact alone made me think more along the lines of cam or crank sensor. Stupid question but your check engine light DOES come on when you first turn the key, right? I've seen ppl tell me no engine light but turns out the light is burned out. Just throwing that out there.
  18. Is it physically possible to remove any of the writing? I saw it won't rub off but can I remove it? Only reason I ask is I don't have an ss.... But I do like the idea.
  19. Interesting. I don't carry the penzoil at work but I may try it.
  20. I enjoyed it. Some big money in these serious street cars.
  21. It was nice to meet you yesterday. Glad we both got what we wanted and are each out about $40 total for the misc stuff....
  22. Lol I guess I just have a goofy sense of humor. It's getting a 2/4 drop, I just changed the sway bar bushings while its apart cause I have to wait till tomorrow to reassemble.
  23. If you take the wheel bearing off, you have a huge flat spot to hit on the lower spindle. A 4 lb short handles sledge is what I used. I did it this morning.
  24. Seems silly to have to take so much stuff out of the way to get to them. I'm wiped out for the day, so ill put it back together Sunday. Anyway here is a pic of the new bushings.
