  1. Check the fuel pressure before you rule out the pump.
  2. Or you could find a wiring diagram for MIL eliminators and wire te resistor and diode into your rear o2 sensors. It will limit the range of the o2 sensor output making the computer think your cats are working.
  3. I don't know how these trucks are with blowers but I did a lot of work on an 03 Mach 1 with a vortech and later an eaton, and the belts were just wearing really fast causing the squeaks. Change the belt while the blower is off and make sure you get a good quality belt. Pulley pullers can e bought for $30 as a kit with the install tools too, that's what I use at work. Not too bad just put a little Teflon grease or gear oil on the pump shaft when you get ready to press the pulley back on. And press it on till the nose of the shaft is even with the front lip of the pulley.
  4. Wow. So what makes it an SS clone? The wheels and badges?? I'll hand it to him it's not a bad looking truck but to label it something that it isn't, that's just not cool.
  5. Man that looks cool, too bad I can't take off of work for it... Nor do I have $800 to spend on a class that doesn't help me at work.
  6. It looks like an Evo got rear ended by a new charger.
  7. I run twin Walbro 255 pumps on my turbo car, and single 255's on all my cars in the past. Never one problem out of them. Just make sure you get the "high pressure" one for any boosted applications.
  8. Cool. Abilene isn't too far at all for the right truck.
  9. I'll have to remember that. Vsv failure is really common in dusty climates like if you have a dirt or gravel driveway. Get them all the time on all sorts of cars.
  10. I saw that blue one. We just dumped twice that into the new house so the wife wants me to wait a while longer. I make it a point to say "I sure wish I had a truck" every time we make a trip to lowes or need to haul off a big load of trash. It may be as late as next tax season but I'll get one. I'm just north of Dallas in Denton.
  11. I love the blue but am not quite ready to buy unless I find a ridiculous deal. I will likely be looking for something around 12k or less. I am not afraid of fixing mechanical issues but the truck needs to be clean. It'll be a tough search but I'll find something when I'm ready.
  12. That comment is funny to me since I was a die hard ford guy for so long. My first car was an 82 silverado though and wen my friend bought an SS a year or so ago, I knew I had to have one.
  13. "no replacement for displacement" ford modular engines have about the coolest sound there is but that's where they stop. The lightning engine is a regular run of the mill 5.4 sohc when it comes to cylinder heads and cams, and I believe the short block is the same too but dot quote me. N/a to n/a a lightning would get smoked by just about anything because they have zero top end. With the blower, they have the extra mid and upper range power so they really rely on the blower where as adding a blower to an lq4 or lq9 you're adding that extra power to an already stout engine, so they just run that much better.
  14. That last issue almost sounds like a control head issue.
  15. That's pretty good. Last time I raced a supercharged Harley truck, I was in a 91 mustang coupe with a built, big headed motor with intake and cam, and a 3 speed auto and I had to spray it to finally get around him.
  16. Wow. I don't think I own a 4 wheeled vehicle with under 100k. My wife's car is just over 60 but my daily has 193k, my turbo mercury Capri has around 100, and who knows how many my turbo pinto has... My honda vfr has around 45 but that translates into about 450,000 in car miles...
  17. That specific code can be a large number of things which is why you're not finding any clear info. First and foremost, you need to check all of the hoses and lines for leaks(Anything that comes off of the fuel tank except for the actual fuel lines) I use a smoke machine at work for this. After that, you need to check all of the solenoids for propped operation and to make sure they are not leaking in the closed position. I haven't done this on a silverado recently so that is the extent of my advice. Good luck and keep us posted.
  18. Red vehicles aren't really my style. Part of my problem is I'm picky, that's why I'm gonna have trouble actually finding an SS I like.
  19. Thanks for the welcomes, I do want an SS but it's hard to find a nice one on my limited budget. Also I don't really care for black trucks(just because I've had a few and they show every little scratch, even though there's not much sexier than a nice clean black truck) so the blue or silver are the only options I like and they're usually beat up in my price range.
  20. Hi all, my name is David I live in north Texas. I've been looking for a new vehicle and we decided I need a new truck. I recently had a turbo ford ranger, extended cab f150 with headers, stall, cams, throttle body and a tune, and a bone stock 94 f150 single cab. I sold the 97 f150 as a favor to a friend that needed a solid vehicle, and have regretted the choice since, but decided I do not want another ford truck. I looked at all my options and decided on either a silverado SS, or a 03-07 silverado extended cab with a 6.0. I haven't bought a truck yet but thought I'd join the forum anyway.
