  12. ohhh they are. the bulb goes in no problem but, being that more than 50% of the heat of a HID bulb goes forward. and being that they run non stop this is a problem. I'm pretty sure that if you used these bulbs with a 25w or 15w ballast, it wouldn't be a problem at all! it's just that these ballast are a tad expensive since they aren't that popular. 15w ballast are used a lot in rear projection TVs! I used to have a HID dome light in my S10... it was expensive as hell. I loved it! KB-
  13. Thanx Muggs! ya, just when you think you know everything about lights...... I'll school ya! and I'm always down to share info! KB-
  14. DRL's no. have you seen my 9w LED's I installed? they are badazz! I tried to put HIDs in my old stock housings, I put a 35w ballast on them and left them on for testing, and they melted the lens. KB-
  15. Honestly, I think 5K is perfect. 4,300K is a lil too yellow for my taste. but that's just my opinion and really, 5,000k and 4,300k only have a difference of about 100 or 200 lumens 4,300K is the brightest color of ALL ((NO BLUE what so ever)) 5,000K is 2nd brightest (( just a tad... not much )) 6,000K is 3rd brightest (( still a low blue color, but a lil more than 5k )) KB-
  16. Full Circle-- yes! I recommend 4300k or 5000k since they are flat out the brightest but, you can do any color you want in the pic above is 5k, but they just kicked on and are still cold. KB-
  17. yup! I love how they kick on when you hit the unlock button! Fact is... there's a whole lot of light that pours out of these things. And there's NO LED bulb available that will flood out this much light. roll with HIDs in your housing, and you'll never be able to tell they are even there... well, until you kick it in reverse and headlights shine back wards! KB-
  18. No rtv, cutting or anything like that the bulb just plugs right in the housing. they work on all housings that use a 3156 or 3156 bulb holder Ive put them in all year superduty's and GM full size trucks KB- look at how much light is on the ground on the HID side, compared to the stock side.
  19. yes, they are $60 and remember the bulbs are plug and play... the ballast will need to be hard wired from truck. what i did was ground to sheet metal and take the positive wire from the truck.... its simple as that KB-
  20. Great rule of thumb on Lumens- "When all other things are equal, (like your light housings).... a light must be twice as bright to be "noticeably" brighter, and four times brighter to appear twice as bright to the human eye." KB-
  21. Right now I have 55w- 6,000K in my hi and low's... with the 4 hi mod but with a magie charger on top, I can out drive my lights in a snap! I'm tired of not being able to see the next turn coming up on the "back roads" I am going to switch to 5,000K. IF YA DO THE MATH--- that's 600 more lumens in low beam and 1,200 more lumens in hi beam!! (roughly since I have 55w) IMO... there's never enough light. here's how I feel it should be, LOW beam should be, only (2) lights, adjusted properly for oncoming drivers. be smart, be safe HI beam in my book, is GAME ON! and don't be a dick.... bright down for oncoming drivers KB-
