  1. I ran into very similar issues, it has always been the electrical portion of the ignition switch. Not very common but always the same failure. I have replaced about 4-5 for this concern.... JMHO
  2. If you were closer to CA I would buy your truck! I would love to see more pics of it! Any under hood shots?
  3. You should go to the dealership and ask if your truck is under a special policy that replaces the cluster for free! A lot of silverados are covered! I replace a Silverado ss cluster last month for free! I think the policy is covered for 10 years or 100000 miles. Its worth looking into. I'll see if I can get the policy number for you guys...
  4. I have seen the plastic Intake manifolds on these trucks warp. GM has a spec on how much is acceptable warpage. I always check this whenever I have the manifold off. These manifolds are like $600! I would say that about 1 in every 5 intake gasket jobs need the intake manifold. I replace about 2-3 a year...Have you tested fuel pressure? Low fuel pressure will also set these codes.... Also make sure that there are no leaks in the air intake after the maf sensor.
  5. Redish-brown coolant is the start of dexcool sludge which is usually caused by prolonged driving with low coolant level... GM has TSB's about this. I guess it depends on the amount of time that the system has been exposed to oxygen. You can service the coolant and it will help.Dexcool is a great coolant when the system level is often checked and replaced during the 150K -10 year intervals. I have seen many GM vehicles with well over 100k miles on the original coolant and the coolant looks brand new.
  6. There is one on San Francisco Craig's list right now. I think he wants 16K but don't quote me on that. I would love to buy it but need to sell the S10 first....
  7. If your coolant is starting to look like brown-redish mud, that's from low coolant level. When your coolant level gets low, oxygen gets in your system and this causes your dexcool coolant to turn to mud. I would look for signs of coolant leaks. Usually water pumps on these motors....
  8. I'll bet that you have a intake gasket leaking! Does your truck run a little rough when cold? While the truck is idling, spry around that base of the intake to heads and see if the idle raises. I see about 1 truck a month with this same issue and almost every time its the intake gaskets leaking.
  9. Don't these trucks have the passkey theft system? If so, he shouldn't have been able to start your truck! I'm going to look into the security systems on these trucks....
  10. I have the same mount on my 2003 S10 and I love it. Only thing that it really blocks in the s10 is the odometer.... Not quite sure about the SSS, I don't own one YET......if you look at my pics in the gallery you will see a shot of the gauges.
  11. Lossen your y-pipe bolts at the manifolds and retry the snap test! If it still bogs then its not your cats...
  12. Niners and Ravens with the niners winning!
  13. Do you have a scan tool? If so, look at the tps and map sensors. I really don't think its your spider. Also remove and insp your dist cap and rotor.
  14. If you had problems with the egr, it would not idle worth a crap. Usually the spider malfunction will cause a misfire in only one or two cyl. Could the fuel be bad? Did you check for codes?
  15. Here are some of the first pics of my Blower. I have since replaced the rubber flex hose with a custom aluminum intake that was powdercoated black.
  16. Procharger D1SC in a 4.3L S10
  17. I have not figured out how to post pics in the threads?????? I was able to post an old engine bay pic of my S10 in my avitar..... I will work on the pics.... Today I removed the D1SC and intercooler from the S10, IT SUCKS to drive now.......
  18. Nnnnoooooo, you can't leave now! I just joined this forum but have been following your truck build for some time now. Im modeling my new SS after your truck. Well, GLWTS.
  19. I've never ran it at the track. I do know that I've beat a lot of sporty cars with the truck. I raced my buddies 2010 SS camaro up to 90 from a dead stop and beat him by almost a truck length both times we raced. That felt pretty good. I did C5 Z06 brakes, line lock, ratchet shifter, posi, 11 inch rear tires to get it that fast.... I love my S10 but I cannot fit my daughters car seat and my wife and I very easily so I decided to get the next best thing, an SSS!!!!!!!
  20. Thanks guys, I will try to get pics of my s10 tonight.
  21. Im new to the SS world and am very excited about buying one. I have been reading this forum for some time now and have decided to sell my s10 to get a SS.Well I don't have a SS yet but I am looking for one. I have a 2003 white S10 with a Pro charger D1SC , 3 core intercooler, modded injectors, 255 pump, FMU, full exhaust, and alcohol injection on the little 4.3L with caltracs traction bars. I will be removing the supercharger, alky inj.,and boost-wideband gauges to install in the SS. I will have to get a larger blower pulley because right now I'm running a 3.6 and turning 12 lbs of boost. I will start with a 4.0 pulley and run 60lbs injectors with a custom tune start with. How does this setup sound? Am I missing anything? I would like any feedback that I get. I can't wait to get the SS.. I just can't decide on AWD or 2WD? What do you boosted guys think? Thanks for any and all input. Jason
