just took a look & turned on the truck & you were right on point, no fluid is moving. the new pump i bought should solve the problem.One way to find out if you did was start the truck and take the cap off. If you don't see fluid moving you know the culprit. Also you could remove the belt and most likely pull the pulley and shaft right out of the pump:blink:

i hope the mechanic was right & the problem is the pump.Yep that happened to me as well lol. First snowfall here. But I shut it off and back on had power steering again. But the first one was most definitely the pump.

i also herd people loose there power steering from doing donuts.I had my pump shaft break on me about a year ago. Out of nowhere too. Literally did an u turn straightened out and bam no power steering.

havent put it on yet due to the cold weather.Did the Advance pump cure your problem?

had a machanic look at it last week. he said everything looks fine, he said i damaged the pump. i dont know how i damaged it since i drnt hit hard. the only way i think i damaged it was wen i was about to crash i applied the brakes and steered really hard to avoid the impact. went to advance auto parts and got the new steering pump.If there was a leak bad enough to lose power steering wouldn't there be an obvious wet area around the hoses or even possibly still be leaking and leave a wet area under the truck. Hope it didn't hit hard enough to damage the steering column or the power steering pump itself ?

yes i will keep u guys updated thanks for the info.You either have an issue with the front end which I doubt but should still be looked into or a more logical issue is the you ran out of fluid.Check for leaks and remember that even thought you don't see a fluid leak the p.s. system still requires pressure from your pump to make it easier for you to turn your steering wheel.

and yes it was an old leak i just confirmed it with my dad. he said he was gonna tell me about it.That looks like an old leak to me. (Wet area's show a lot of dirt in the wetness). Fresh leak should look like fairly fresh fluid).

???? looks like it leaked after the impact.Your power steering is gone. You either one damaged the pump, or two damaged the lines. Once you lose power steering fluid your steering gets extremely hard.

no i dont hear anything. wen i crashed i backed out & manage to drive for another 4 min i would say. but by the time i was driving the stearing was gettiin really hard. wen the tow truck brought the truck to my house the next day..thats wen i noticed that it was even more harder now.Sounds like your out of guild to me. Do you hear the pump whining or anything like that? Most likely you got a leak form the crash.

it is really hard to steer left and right.Hard to steer how? May need to get it up on a lift and have the pros take a look.

i crashed my ss last week. the crash wasent that bad,all that got damaged was the whole front bumper got destroyed. now its really hard for me to steer, its like my steering wheel got locked? everything looks fine. wat can be the problem?

i just bought one on ebay. its primed already. im going to take it for the paint job. i hope they dont charge alot to paint the bumper.

hey really lovin the site. my name is jose & im 20 years old. i just bought my 2003 silverado ss 3 months ago & im loving it!! 80,000 miles on it. & i got it for $11,000. i think it was a good deal. the truck runs fine & is in good condition. took me a while to save up the money & to find the truck but i got it.!
