  1. Great build. I have a white 04 that I'm looking to do similar things to exterior wise. I like the look of a roll pan as well and the SS cladding-cool as it is-doesn't seem to jive very well with anything but the bumper it was designed to go with. IMHO, an RCSB screams for a roll pan. I do like what you did with yours by just adding the SS front bumper and just adding the SS emblems and keeping it simple. I've often wondered what it would look like, now I know. Thanks. Hope she brings you many smiles.
  2. Well I went to Show-Me Speed today (yesterday) and met with Wes Choate owner of Show-Me Speed I ordered some fun. I was going to do this eventually but last Wednesday I bought this And pulling her out of the lake on one leg is quite the challenge. Of the two boat ramps I like to use I can only currently use one with traction grooves cut into it with this 1WD rig. I only made it half way up the other ramp and had to put the boat back into the water and hitch the trailer to my Wrangler which walked it right out no prob. Unfortunately it's 3500# tow rating and 4 pin connector aren't a good idea to tow the boat. Here's my preliminary shopping list: . The exact grind on the cam changed from whats on the paper after discussing the needs/goals for the truck. I'm also going from a 4.1" pulley to a 3.6" pulley which should put me up around 10-11#'s of boost. Right now I'm running 6#'s. and the rearend gearing will be 3.73. Stock is 3.42. And we'll be doing an Eaton posi instead as well. I'm going to have the new clutch and rear end installed over this coming Sun-Mon-Tue as I'm going out of town with the missus. The rest I'll have installed in August when I'm out of town for 8 days.
  3. Any suggestions on a cam, heads etc? I am looking for a performance increase. I've got a very mild 3.6" pulley for the TVS 1900. Would like to get a smaller pulley to go with upgraded cam. I want this to be DD drive-able as my wife drives it from time to time. I'm also replacing clutch as well as installing a posi rearend. It doesn't do so well pulling the boat out of the lake on one leg.
  4. It may seem like I'm going backwards but there's a method to my madness. A mechanic at the shop that installed the hitch, hounds me every time he see's me for my wheels. It's all in good fun. When I bought the truck it came with those wheels and they look alright. 20's with 50 series rubber. Very heavy and made the truck feel very ponderous with all of that unsprung weight. I've been wanting a set of winter rims/tires as well as some black 20" Forgeline's with 35-40 series rubber. My plan was to wait for those tires to wear down a bit and then sell then go from there. Before After How's this for a nice sleeper look? These tires have just over 600 miles on them. What the OEM's came off and what my wheels went onto: I'm half way there. I should be doing the e fan swap here in the next couple of weeks. Also I'll be replacing the clutch soon and my wife knows that. However it does present an opportunity to do some things that she doesn't necessarily need to know about. I think I'll be doing a cam and a smaller pulley and a new tune of course. Any suggestions? Would that be a good time to do a new TB? And no I'm not doing an LQ9 or a 5.3 at this time so I'm not interested in those suggestions at the moment.
  5. I absolutely love my Maggie with the HP tune. It runs like OEM and the little 4.8 feels like a big block now. Quick enough to annoy challengers and mustangs. Ha ha.
  6. Just ordered a license plate flip up kit and a hidden hitch from Summit. Took two days to arrive (way to go Summit) Took it to the shop and had them install it. It should tow the boat just fine now.
  7. Yes it is easier to ask forgiveness. Thank you, I really love the truck.
  8. Ok cool. I'll put it on the list.
  9. Not sure exactly what you mean but I'm guessing google is my friend here. I'll look into it. Thanks.
  10. Not a groundbreaking mod but ordered Lumens 3157 DRL's and front amber turn signals back at the first of March from CarID. After 7 shipping delays, they finally arrived a week ago and I finally installed them. I also ordered some Putco resistors to counter hyper flash which work great. I love how the DRL's turned out but am disappointed with the amber turn signals. The driver side is more yellow in color and the passenger side is more orange.
  11. Did you post a vid? I'm not seeing it.
  12. I think the dual tips popping out under the truck bed just in front of the rear wheel is the right call here in this application. I want to install a Corsa but they don't make one that exits in front of the rear wheel that I know of. I'd prefer round rolled tips at an angle but that's just me. I'm sure this Magnaflow set up will sound killer.
  13. Looks great. Can't wait to see this great white hope completed.
  14. Just read the whole thread. Wow Will, wow. Very cool build...very inspiring.
  15. Wow, this is one nice build. Best of luck on the remainder of it-not that you need it. Can't wait to see how this turns out.
  16. Congrats on the SS. I like.
  17. Lol didn't even consider it. This took all of 15 mins. Drying was the most time consuming and then taping. It's just temporary. The bowtie has a chip in the bottom of it so its definitely going to get replaced.
  18. This will probably be my most inexpensive mod. I had a can of black satin spray paint laying around. I was sick of looking at my faded ghetto looking bowtie up front. This will have to suffice until I figure out what I'm doing with the front end long term.
  19. Ok so I get the 90mmTB x link. I'd like to replace mine even if only for aesthetic reasons. Mine LOOKS 9 years old lol. How will that effect my tune? My situation is I live 7 1/2 hrs away from the tuner, and I mod on the down low. My wife just thinks I got a tune and that's why it's louder and faster. She didn't even notice the rollpan instead of the bumper. I asked my installer about doing a cold air intake (is this what you're referring to?) and he said what I have flows very well. E fans? What do you mean? This truck reminds me of an old 64 F100 I had out of High School that had a 429 Boss in it. It has that same big torque effortless feel to it.
  20. Thanks for the link, Clone. That's a killer build-quite the transformation. SS thanks for the kind words. This little 4.8 ain't too shabby. I'll have to post up a video. It sounds pretty good. Some more pics.
  21. Ok thanks. Very helpful.
  22. Ok. Sorry for the noob questions but is ordering an LS2 through O'Reilly's a good idea? With core I can get one for about 2350.00. Or do I need to start with better internals than the ones included in the engine they offer. Other than the Maggie, what from my 4.8 could transfer over? I'm thinking T56 too. Gotta stick with a manual.
  23. So the truck pictured in your sig started life as a 4.8? Is there a difference between an LQ9 and an LS2?
  24. Bassani mid length headers? What kind of gains do these provide? Can't wait to see the results of your build.
  25. Thanks for the comments. Have some more pics to post I picked up my truck last night from Whiteside Customs in McKinney. It worked out better to do that instead of pick it up this morning. I'm very pleased with how the steel Street Scene rollpan turned out. I plan on getting the flip down license plate kit and installing a hidden hitch. Now onto driving impressions. Mike at Whiteside said the truck was a little bit louder but not as loud as he thought it might be with the addition of catless LT's. Upon startup the difference was quite noticeable. All good though. I dig it. But I have my eye on the Corsa side exit catback. Have always loved the LT/Corsa combo on the LS motors. Messed around with both a 2 dr M3 and a Challenger R/T today. Wife was cool and let me play. Not quite enough to take the M3 but I got the impression he was supremely annoyed that he had to work as hard he did to beat pickup lol. FTR, I have 320lbs of sand bags in my bed for winter along with about 80 lbs of luggage, my old mid pipe/cats, stock headers and stock fuel injectors, IM. So I was hauling about 460 lbs of crap. The Challenger R/T wasn't as quick as the Beemer so he lost to pickup. He asked me "what the hell I was running" at the next light. I just said it was a 4.8 with LT's and a tune LOL. You cannot hear the SC at all. He strongly disagreed. It was fun. This truck operates as though its stock. Very smooth. I could have left the shifter in 5th all the way home. It's diesel like in that no downshifting on any hill is ever required. It seems to pull as hard in 5th as it used to in 3rd. From 65-70 acceleration is effortless in 5th gear. Drop it into 3rd and it finds 100mph in short order. The tone of the exhaust note intensifies quite a bit when the boost comes on under WOT. It seems to be a little drony at around 68-70 under load but it wasn't too bad. I've heard/experienced bad drone before and this was doable. Frankly I'm surprised that the cat-less LT's along with the turndown after the Flowmaster doesn't produce more drone. I thoroughly enjoyed my drive home.
