  1. I got home from work yesterday, and found my throttle body had returned from being repaired at TPIS.... all excited, I went to the shop, plugged it up and bolted it on. Now.... when the throttle body origionally messed up on me, the truck would throw REP codes as soon as I turn the key on, and would not run. TPIS said they did find a problem with it. So after re-installing it yesterday, I turn the key on, no codes, and throttle body moves by pedal command. Start the truck, fires right up, and idles really high for a while, probably about 20 seconds at 4k rpm. Wierd, but understandable being as its new and the tune is new. Maybe doing an idle learn, it slows down to idle afterwards, but Give it gas and it tries to die..So then suddenly the REP code come back, and throttle body shuts, and the throttle body motor makes all kind of grinding sounds that it didnt make before. Now it won't run at all. Throttle body screwed up worse than before. Called Jim at TPIS and he's sending me a whole new one today. (Used one that he says he knows works, i will discuss the $ sitiation with him later). He apologized. My build has been done for almost 5 weeks and havent drove it yet because of throttle body. Kinda aggravating.

Side notes: when the truck is running and the throttle body closes, the entire front of the FAST LSXRT manifold tries to collapse under the vaccum of the engine. I mean it really really moves... kinda scared of that.

Also, my rocker arms are still hitting the inside edge of my valve covers. No more grinding I can do. Not sure what ill do about that just yet. New throttle body should be here tomorrow. Here's a crappy idle video of one of the times I did get it to run.

Scratch the vid... how do I upload a vid using taptalk?

  2. Word of advice... When assembling NPT fittings use the liquid Teflon sealer. When assembling any Aluminum fittings especially AN fittings always use anti-seize!

The fittings that go into the cylinder head are these stem vent blocks

    Anything else let me know.

I found all of them on summit. Actually, when i got the message that you had commented on my post, thats what i was doing lol. I really apprecieate it man. Hopefully when i get home from work, Ill have everything i need to get er done. Talked to TPIS today, My threootle body is apart, gonna fix it and put back together tomorrow and send back to me. Thanks again.

  3. What is wrong with the KUP system? You do know that the bracket and lines weren't meant for the LSXRT intake right? The fittings should be easy to find bit I don't know what you need. And hoses are the same way.

I didn't know it wouldn't fit the RT manifold. I included a note in payment stating What I had. All the hoses were too short so another $80 at NAPA to have hoses made. Then 3 of the 8 AN fittings are messed up and leaking. I emailed asking if I could buy the fittings I needed to replace and I'm having complete hell with this guy. Being as nice as I can and he's being difficult. Wont even go about telling me how to get the fittings I need from him, and has offered no support in making it right. The most sympathetic thing I've heard from him was when he seen the pic of my motor and seen I had an RT manifold. He says "oops". Really pissed me off when he said "ill be back in the shop friday, i dint always answer the phone but its worth a shot" As soon as I find the fittings elsewhere so that I don't need him anymore, I'm gonna tell him exactly how I feel

  4. What did you pay for the tpis 102mm tb?
$225 for car style LS2 core from Scoggin Dickey, shipped to TPIS, and $602 for them to build it and ship it. So $827. Sucks I know, but I've heatd and read a lot of negative about the Nick Williams bodies. Wether its true or not IDK.

  5. TPIS are awesome people. Sent a great apology, and sent a UPS truck to pick up the throttle body and assured me they would make it right. Now Kurt Urban on the other hand, fighting to get what I need out of them. I was told on email: "Ill be out until friday, and don't always answer the phone, but its worth a try"

Wtf is that! Ur kit is crap, I need more parts, and can't get any help. I'm pretty hott about that whole thing. Cant find the AN fittings I need anywhere. Ill have it running soon!

  6. There isn't a clearance issue. Its the side of my rockers. The outermost edge on intake side of the rocker was touching the rim of the cover where it seats to the head. Even after grinding a little they hit. I had to take them all the way down nearly to the rubber seal with the dremel. Only on front and back cylinder of each head for some reason.

  7. Ok guys, ill make it as short as I can. First and foremost, kurt Urban performance water vapor kit=GARBAGE!!!! Complete total waste of money. Hoses too short, bracket for collection block doesn't fit intake, AN fittings are made of plastic seems like. Actually, plastic would be stronger. So waste of money there. Ok sorry lol.... the fast 102.. absolutely no problems. Everything works. Sensors plug right in. I wish the purge valve mounted a little different, but for the most part, slapped it right in. Rocker arms hitting stock valve covers so had to get some of them. Local race shop had them. Still had to grind on the new ones right where they sit on the heads on intake side. My damn water pump is leaking from gaskets so gotta redo that, And the Kurt Urban is leakimg a bit at the back of the passenger side head so gotta fix that as well. Now, here's the most dreaded thing ever... got the whole build done.. the last 4 bolts, putting the TPIS throttle body on, plugged in to the xlink, I look at my buddy and say.. lets crank this bitch! !! I get in the truck, turn the key on, and instantly have reduced engine power codes, and just about every code possible dealing woth throttle sensors. P0120, 0220, 1518... so, I try to crank it. It starts, and dies 2 seconds later with no response at throttle body from pedal. Plug in my scanner, wipe codes, with key on, throttle body moves, but does the same thing as soon as I start the truck. Instantly get REP and throttle body closes and truck dies. I started tracing wiring, and it all checked out ok. So I pointed at the xlink and called Zippy. We both thought it was the xlink. Called a friend of mine and he brought his 2011 LS3 vette to my house. Removed his throttle body, put on my truck and plugged it into xlink, truck started and ran fine. THE TPIS 102MM THROTTLE BODY IS BAD!!!!! THE SENSORS INSIDE ARE NO GOOD/DAMAGED WHEN THEY FABRICATED IT!!!! I'm furious. So now I get to call them and I'm sure it won't go easy. They will try to blame it on my core throttle body I sent to them. I sure. I hope not. It was a brand new core. And naturally I go back to the gulf of mexico to work wednesday so won't be able to drive it until next time I get home. *2weeks!! Here's what it looks like

  8. Ok, so check this out. Today is Wednesday. Late monday night I realized I needed the bracket kit to mount my fuel rails to the FAST intake. Piss me off already bc I wasnt told that I needed it when i origionally called comp asking questions about the install. Whatever.... So yesterday morning i called SUMMIT, which have been absolutely awesome people since i started the build. They told me that they did not have it in stock, that they were going to have to order it from comp directly, and that when an order is sub'd out like that it could take 3-5 business days to process the order. Not gonna work for me. So yesterday morning after i got off the phone with them, i called comp directly and i was told that there was 18 kits in stock at the comp warehouse in Memphis, Tn. Great, so i ordered it. $56 + $78 for overnight shipping. Said it was coming FedEx, which is great because FedEx delivers here at like 10am where UPSisnt until after 6pm. Well i seen the FedEx truck pass this morning and didnt stop. So i called comp for tracking number just a second ago, and they couldnt find where i ever placed an order. Searched my name, phone number, and address. So, I asked, OK now what. Comp was not willing to do any kind of discount or help even tho they messed up. Looked at my card statement online, they did not charge me for it. So basically i lost a whole day. I had to re-order it and it will be here tomorrow. Guys, water pump is on, rockers are set, valve covers and coils on, all i need is the damn bracket kit to put fuel rails on intake, put oil and water in it, and i can start it. Im beyond furious right now. Never again will i deal with COMP, or FASTdirectly.
