Stall before cam?
dieseltech320 replied to coal miner's topic in AWD, Differential, & Transmission Tech
Converter is one of the best mods for the money. nothing wrong with installing it before the cam. many people on here have a converter and no cam. like stated above though you will for sure want to get a tune done after the install, and I would also suggest the servos and shift kit too. -
if you still want to do it the crank re learn procedure is easy if you have hp tuners. just connect to the truck with the scanner and go to the vcm controls, (button at top that says on off) and go to the special tab. you will see it there and it will tell you what to do

literally the exact same thing I did to fill mine. great minds think alike!
-
well a cam is pulling a lot more air into the engine over a stock one so that extra air being pulled into the motor needs to exit quicker and the headers help to do that. not saying that heads wouldn't. my reference was just about a cam needing headers to help breathe.
-
I agree with everyone else on headers being one of the biggest gains. I honestly think I felt a bigger difference with the header install than the cam install. could be that the headers where done after the cam and the cam needed those headers to breath, but it was a very large improvement.

I changed my tranny fluid at 100,000. didn't flush it, just drained and filled with new. also did both differentials at 100,000
-
well I hate to say it cuz I have flows also, but most people will tell you that is not a good exhaust setup since most say that flows are too restrictive.
-
I am soon installing a circle d 3000 also, when I get the free time. i think your time is fairly good considering the 33s. a buddy of mine with a 5.3 that i did a cam install on and headers and tune runs 33s also. i don't have any numbers but when he takes them off and puts stocks back on it is a crazy difference. those tires are slowing you way down. maybe slap some stocks on there one day just for a quick run down the track to see the results.
-
well atleast now when you pull up next to one at a light you'll be confident enough to try him!
-
when I put mine in I had asked zippy the same thing and he said you can hammer it pulling out of the driveway if you want! lol. like others said though, after I did a little cruise around town I changed the oil.

Go figure... ANOTHER Header thread...

exact ones I have and im awd. no problems at all. loved the improvement -
I had the same problem when I removed mine, had to end up just cutting a cut off wheel and started cutting stuff till it came down lol. I don't feel as bad not carring mine now after seeing all these responses. lol

awesome, thank you very much! SEMPER FI

It is very often caused from bad gas. It is the cylinder pre detonating before the piston is all the way up. When that happens it is trying to force the piston back down when it's still on it's upward stroke resulting in a knock. When I run logs in my truck I have absolutely no kr. I run premium gas 93 octane
-
Well hopefully you can at least get it isolated to which one by doing that. Did that same thing for a friend of mine recently when his was misfiring but no code
-
awesome! congrats... I just got married Tuesday! lol
-
do you or anyone close to you have hp tuners? if so you can hook up to your truck and monitor each cylinder individually while driving and maybe hope to isolate which one it is then go from there as to whats causing it. if you can get it narrowed down to one cylinder you can then do your basics of swapping that plug with another then the wire, etc.

still have stock heads other than the springs with a 216 220 114lsa. its my daily driver and im happy with it. Needs a stall to get optimal performance but drives just fine without one
-
my apologizes, I was unsure of where to post also
-
lol, I actually have plans to do something like that this weekend just so I can try and diagnose a problem. but no I was meaning for a in cab gauge
-
I apologize in advance if this has already been covered but I have looked and can not find it. Can anyone provide me with the part number and where to order the correct fittings needed to install a sending unit for a fuel pressure gauge into the fuel rail. Or maybe just a kit that comes with all of it together. Or type of fitting and size to get it local. any help is appreciated. thanks guys

opps, my bad. had a long day at work. lol

I thought the same thing, and also if you look the 1/8 mile speed was slower on the faster 1/4 run

Stall opinions please
dieseltech320 replied to dieseltech320's topic in AWD, Differential, & Transmission Tech
not trying to cheap out or anything but since I have a connection on a certain one I would like to take advantage of it if everyone likes the brand. I have a friend who works for comp and is able to get a tci stall at his discount. opinions on these please. and after hearing everyones thoughts I have decided to go with a 3k
