  1. I vote broken cat. I'm assuming you found nothing in your oil when you drained it to check bearings, that's a good sign. All it takes is a splash of water on a hot cat to f it up. With the pickup o-ring making a difference for a little while it makes me wonder though. Did you ever cut your oil filter open to check it? Though you can't hear it from the top of the motor, maybe a lifter has collapsed? Does it sound like metal on metal clunk, or metal and ceramic?
  2. I really don't know the worth of SS's, seeing as the 2wd are 05-06 and AWD are 03-04, a 2wd would be worth more in the right condition. All things equal though, I sure the heck wouldn't pay more for a 2wd, but I do live in wisconsin where 2wd is completely useless. To each there own, everyone's perception is different which creates difference in opinion. I prefer the 4x4 option myself
  3. That's awesome. I really appreciate the comradery on this site
  4. We all make mistakes, that is for sure. Glad you got it figured out!
  5. Good lord 37ftlbs on an 8mm. Your local hardware store should have some. You just have to figure out the thread.
  6. I would say it sounds like you have somethin clogging up the valve body. It could also be tuning. Did you have it tuned for a stall or shift kit or anything before that it now doesn't have? If not I'd get a shift kit and put it in, giving you the chance to clean it out in there.
  7. I will definitely have to do some more research into my combo because you are exactly right. I want the right one for my use. That's why I tried contacting TSP, now I will try other options. I know Brian tooley does great stuff. I just really want a broad powerband and need to know if I go with something like a 228/232, will the high compression bring it back from being peaky? I want to shift at or below 6500 1-2.
  8. Exactly what I was thinking haha when you plan on doing it? I would be very interested in your results.
  9. I pretty much chalked it up to exactly that, he's either unfamiliar and/or just being a salesman. I wouldn't hesitate to buy parts from them still. I have read alot of threads they've posted on with excellent/valuable information.(mainly Jason). As for trickflow being a better head... I have done ALOT of research, in fact I should post my spreadsheet on the flow charts of the 10 heads I was considering..any way, TEA ported TF heads flow the absolute most I have found, though I didn't research AI, but I did AFR. Somehow TEA gets crazy exhaust flow from their heads, unless they test it differently than the rest somehow. My conclusion was that Trick flows are the superior head, but at a price. TEA wants $2670 for the tfs 225cc ls2 heads. This is a bit hefty to me, I know you get what you pay for though, shadow sniper went 502rwhp stock shortblock with those heads, and the other guy went 485 with stg 1 PRC's which are 1200$. so I figured I'd get the PRC 2.5 or the slightly better 225cc as cast heads. I may end up doing with the 228r on 110lsa now just for the few extra ponies it may get. I'm trying to go 11.5:1 so hopefully my powerband won't be all peaky. Which I tried to ask about, but he never answered.
  10. I would like to add that my gripe is about the individual that I communicated with not TSP as a whole. I think they make great products.
  11. I have been pondering a new heads and I take setup lately. I will have all the cash I need in about two months to do it. I contacted TSP via email in regards to what they thought about my setup related to my goals. This is where when I started thinking about making this post. So I explained my lq9 with tfs 220/224 cam and 3200 stall. My goal being 450-475rwhp after heads and intake. My prospective purchase included a set of stg 2.5 heads/. Or maybe the PRC 225cc as cast, then the lsxrt 102 with 102 TB and supporting MAF. I felt my goals were within reason with a good dyno tune. So my question was if they thought i could get my goals were attainable with my cam? I went on to ask if more compression would help lower the powerband if I did go with a slightly bigger cam? The reply I recieved was that I could not reach my goals with the small cam. Then referenced that I may gain 40-45rwhp from as cast heads and 20-30rwhp from intake setup. This would net 60-75rwhp. What does he think I'm at now? So I emailed back saying I was considering the 228r or torquer v2 and asked if he thought one if those would get me closer? He replied I would need a stroker motor to get the power I am looking for... Now I thought a while before posting this and decided I should. I just like to expose things for other people I guess.... I know of 1 member on here that made 502rwhp with a large cam and some bada** heads. Another with 485rwhp on a 228r but a slightly larger motor. I'm sure there are more. I need to know. Is this guy messing with me? Why isn't he trying to get me to want the parts I have selected?
  12. Well I'm sure in the grand state of California you must have a harbor freight store..!?!? This is what you do, ill tell ya. Get yourself one of them 150$ welders (I bought one and did my whole exhaust and then some), plus the shop is gonna charge you that probably anyway. Kaboom you can weld your own cat back on. If you have holes just tack em up. I have faith in you. I would do it for you but I'm nowhere close to long beach.. I wish!
  13. That guy is smokin somethin if you ask me. That thing is 2wd for Pete's sake. Though arguably a really nice truck. It's all up to the individual I guess. You could buy a truck, build the motor, and trans and have money left over... But that's just what I would do with that much cash. Lol
  14. First day back to the gym, sore.

That sounds harsh man. Hope you're cleared soon! I was really into powerlifting last winter and hoping to compete in the spring

  15. http://appleton.craigslist.org/cto/4734177046.html Pushing 5 psi, built trans. Doesn't seem like a bad deal.
  16. I'm not sure what you'll run at that elevation but where I live you'd proll do 13.2-13.7 I just looked my elevation is around 1200'
  17. Maybe the blower itself. Sounds consistant with the motor going out. Possibly the switch. You could test the wires going to the blower motor to see if its getting consistant power. If its inconsistent the blower motor resistor is the next to check. Then switch
  18. I agree with fireman. The resistors I get from oreilly are lifetime warranty... Maybe yours is still covered
  19. Did you do the pigtail to the resistor when you did the resistor ?
  20. Thanks guys. That doesn't seem too bad at all. I've been wanting to put it in for a while, but thought it was way more complicated. I'm so sick of the one wheel peel its not even funny. Lol ill have to post up a video once it's done ;)
  21. Well if you're comfortable doing some wiring you can use those, the ls2 injectors are an EV6 type connector and your truck has multec 2 connectors, and I'm unsure of whether they will fit in your lq9 fuel rail. It would be a good idea to get your headers and exhsust done along with a tune before you do the cam. I think you'll be quite impressed and you'll have the supporting exhaust flow to make some good power.
  22. So I have a Detroit locker for my truck but I have no clue how to install one correctly. I've looked around and not found much. As far as I know I won't have to touch my pinion spacing because I'm keeping my 3:73 ratio. So I just need some help on how to shim it on the axle axis. Any info is much appreciated.
  23. Welcone to the site. I think you'll find there is alot if quality information and people on this forum
  24. I DiD forget to mention.. Even with my "baby" cam I am running 120% duty cycle on stock injectors, so if you want to get your maximum performance you will need to think about injectors. I have decided to go with a set of 8.1 marine injectors I found in the for sale section.
