  1. That's a great deal. I just spent over a grand getting mine rebuilt. That included half of the housing being replaced. GLWTS
  2. Put royal purple 75w90 in my front diff. now it's getting towed to the axle shop for a rebuild. LOL just messin though, it was on its way out and the R.P. was a wishful miracle cure attempt. I have used royal purple and mobil 1 with no problems for years in many different vehicles. I also use the G.M. auto trak 2 in the t. case on my truck, but have seen some of the guys on here go with other lubes with success also. Good luck and happy wrenching
  3. Well, the front axle on my truck is toast!!! I was lucky to be close to home, so I was able to limp home. It was on my list of things to do, so it didn't come as a suprise. The great part is that it sits in my drive way behind my 02 2500 suburban. The 'burb is behind my 95 2 door tahoe thats sitting torn apart in the middle of my garage The tahoe's 4l60 is in the trans. shop getting a H.D. rebuild with the monster in a box kit and monster converter. I just put new brakes, tires, & exaust on the 'hoe before 3-4 started slipping. Next, pinched between the ss and the 'hoe is the mentioned 'burb. That puppy is getting the following surgery performed, all new ac delco sensors, intake, valley, and valve cover gaskets. New trans. cooler, oil cooler, and inline tube s.s. brake & fuel lines. New a.c. compressor, evaporator, belt & recharge. New pass. side exaust manifold w/ bolts and gm gasket. No i'm not done!! Also an ac delco fuel pump, a tru cool 40k trans. cooler, new power steering pump & cooler. New idler pully's and belt, new water pump and hoses. Engine, trans., front & rear diff., transfer case, fluids, & anti freeze. New plugs & wires, and I have probaly missed a part or two, but that about sums up that project. I did do new wheel hub bearings, calipers, rotors, & tires last spring. I have used almost all AC Delco parts for this project, found all the best price's at amazon. I am about half way done with my tune up that spiraled out of control. Now, sorry for venting about having 3 broken Chevrolet's sitting up my drive. I will let y'all know that my '12 1500 4x4 ecsb bowtie is treating me just fine. So my wife get's to drive a rental ford focus while the SS is down until Thursday. Go ahead and laugh at me, but just know that blue oval is parked on the street!!! So for the good news, Drive train specialists is only 30 miles from my house. So my blue baby is getting a piggy back ride to DTS on Wednesday morning for a much needed front axle full rebuild. I have also ordered up 4 new tires and timken front wheel hub bearings for the SS. Also doing the 13" front brake upgrade with drilled slotted rotors on all 4, hydro boost conversion, e fan install, front bumper mod,& shave the antenna. So the moral of the story is that I have officially spent all of my $$$$$ & that I love my Chevy's. Oh BTW my SSS will never be as fast as my old 98' camaro SS that I sold right after my son was born, but I do love her anyways!!! Love the site to guys, so much info and cool ideas that I can tell you my SSS upgrades will never end!
  4. Thanks Muggs & Johnny. I love this site all the info is beyond help full ! I have assembled a build list strictly based on research done here. Now just getting my funds and wife in order for my build to come together. The usual stuff, I don't see a power adder in my near future. It's gonna be a father/son build, my helper is 6 so my plans are handing it over to him when he graduate's if he is that lucky. My 16 year old daughter thinks its hers, LOL she has driven it with me riding shotgun. Can you say nail biter!!!! Anyways my plans are to enjoy driving it around town and down the strip a pass or ten and tear into the drive train in the fall. I will post the build as soon as my mountain of parts hits the work bench.
  5. I would like to have mine modified as am am getting parts together for the swap. Red 454ss how much for your core?
  6. As posted, I just scored a blue ss, my life is now complete! It is in nice shape, it has a few mod's and moves out nicely. it has Dyna tech full legnth headers, cold air intake, cowl induction hood, poly suspension and body bushings. I love the way it looks and rides, and i have wanted one since 03! So yes I am a happy man, I will post some pics soon and time slips in the spring.
