  1. Do you have the part #s for the alumasports? I'm showing the same # for GMT800 and 900 trucks and just want to make sure.
  2. Good looking truck KJT - quite a coincidence that in addition to the wheels we had the same exhaust - black chrome slash cut tips exiting in the same spot. That's what really made me think it was my old SS.
  3. Any chance you guys were on 206 heading north in the late afternoon, maybe 5pm? I passed a nice line of SSs when I was heading south in my orange '07 Avalanche, and I was towing a '64 GTO. I almost broke my neck spinning around to see the SSs. I think I even saw my old '03 SS in the line - it was sold to a member named Wally from somewhere in northern NJ. Had black ARE 22s, Baer brakes, Line-X, etc. Sure looked just like the last SS in line, but with new exhaust tips and the stripes removed...
  4. I thought I was too, then I drove the new Av and the SS felt so ancient! Fit, finish, ride, leather, etc on the new ones is night and day to the GMT800s. So many new gadgets on the new ones too - factory remote start, load leveling suspension, nav, rear view camera, DVD screens, 4L70E trans, 366hp, new styling. It was really a no-brainer once I drove it. I do love toys.
  5. Yep - between sale price, tax savings on new truck, and my Onstar and XM refunds (I was paid way ahead), I almost got my asking price. Not too bad, considering what you pay for a new one nowadays. And my salesman made a little coin by financing the deal and selling an extended warranty. Smiles all around. Thanks for your help, Brian.
  6. Truck is gone to a new home...good luck with it WallyzZ28.
  7. Thanks again everyone - off to the dealer. I think I'll take the long way... :-(
  8. Probably a 5.3 you saw - plenty of them around. 6.0 production just started, it's not even listed as an option on the Chevy website, but it's available. Comes with the 4L70E too.
  9. Thanks again everyone for the good wishes. Thought I'd post a quick picture of what I ordered. I haven't seen one around anywhere yet, and according to the searches I've done, there are only 2 6.0 Avs in this color in the country. They'll only be making this color through December, so I think it will be a pretty rare truck.
  10. Sold the truck locally through the forum actually, though the buyer isn't active on here (just joined and sent me a PM). My dealer is doing the sale for me as a pre-trade on the Av that I ordered, so that I get the tax benefit of trading my SS (saving me about $1300). They are just passing it through to the new owner and handling the paperwork. I'm borrowing my uncle's '01 Z71 until my Av arrives, two months is going to kill me! There's only one 6.0 Av in the color that I want in the entire counrty (AZ), so I was forced to order. I'll be sure to stop back and visit from time to time.
  11. As of 5pm today, I'll be waving goodbye to my SS. It's been a fun three years with lots of mods and money wasted, but after three great years, I just had the bug for something new and different. Well, that and my wife absolutely hates riding in my "obnoxiously loud" truck. Some might say "how could you let your wife make you get rid of your beloved truck." However, through the powers of reverse psychology, I turned her objections into, "well, if you really want me to go and buy a brand new truck, I will, but only because you asked me to." So I've ordered an '07 Avalanche LTZ 4x4 with the 366hp 6.0, and it should be here by December. A new Silverado just wasn't an option, I just don't like the styling. But I love the Suburban/Tahoe/Avalanche styling. Just wanted to post one last time to thank everyone for all of the help and advice along the way. It's been fun.
  12. It's not quite a done-deal yet , but the buyer, my salesman, and I are all on the same page. Two holdups right now - waiting to hear on a dealer trade (I've picked out 4 identical trucks within 200mi), and haggling with the dealer over whether they'll share the $2000 in incentives and dealer cash with me. Obviously they should. Thanks for all of your help by the way Brian. I really appreciate it.
  13. Thanks for the compliments ALL ULL C. I really have the truck just the way I wanted it and it figures that I'd get the bug for something new. That's the way it goes with me. I've been having some second thoughts lately, especially after detailing it last weekend, but I can't afford (or justify) two trucks. So it has to go. As for the pics in my garage, I'm not sure what's up. Some work for me, but most do not. I'll try some other user's garages and see if it's just mine.
  14. Maybe it will have the 87-octane 6.0l from the '07 Avy that's rated at 366hp and has cylinder deactivation. They just started production.
  15. The '07 Avy is now available with an 87-octane all-aluminum 366hp 6.0. Not sure a stock SS is going to hang with that, so I don't know that I'd call them a "dog" performance-wise. I'm planning on ordering one before the end of the year.
  16. Go to a lawyer and inquire whether Ohio has a consumer protection law. In NJ, your situation would fall under the Consumer Fraud Act, which would qualify you for 3x your damages plus attorneys fees. Any shop that holds themselves out as professional and qualified and performs that type of work is most certainly committing consumer fraud.
  17. Willing to accept a reasonable offer...
  18. I might consider it, but only if I could get the stock wheels in partial trade, AND I have the truck sold and the new buyer is ok with it. Otherwise it's just too complicated. Even that sounds complicated, actually.
  19. Couldn't change the title to my "feeler" thead, so I just started a new one. I'm going to be ordering an '07 Avalanche LTZ in the next few days, so I've only got a few weeks to sell my SS. It's go just about 39k miles on it and every factory option. It's garage kept and is mint, has about 10 coats of Zaino. It's got close to $10k in mods on it including ARE 22s, 285/45 Toyo Proxes, brand new Baer Brakes with red calipers and brackets (less than 1k miles), hawk pads, earl's braided lines, and super blue fluid. Mods are too extensive to list here (see my garage), but include PCMforLESS tune, Hypertech 160 stat, x-piped exhaust, Volant, Line-x, Hotchkis bars (brand new), and a Joe Gibbs spoiler (brand new). Properly maintained, and just switched to all Royal Purple fluids about 6 months ago. Would consider included hardwired Valentine One and Prodigy trailer brake controller if buyer is interested. KBB, Edmunds and NADA say that retail is $26,800, obviously not including mods. So that's my starting point. The last thing I want to do is have to trade this SS in. Please email, post, or PM if interested.
  20. There are a couple of decent ones in my garage. I know I have some better ones at home, I'll take a look and post. I went with the 285/45 because I thought the 305/40 looked a little short and fat on a non-lowered truck, and I don't plan on lowering mine. Being from the NE, I wanted the extra .5" height.
  21. I love my 285/45 Toyos, just right IMO. A little more sidewall for protection than a 305/40 too.
  22. Too bad they eliminated most incentives and raised interest rates to pay for a 100k warranty I could have bought for $600. Guess I won't be buying new after all.
