  1. Watch eBay for a used set of Baer Eradispeeds, there have been a lot of sets on there lately. I got a set about two months ago and I have seen at least three more since then. You could score a set of those, do the braided lines and hawk pads, and flush the fluid and have a nice setup for under $1000.
  2. The email I got (posted above) was from someone named Matt who answered from the order info email address. It was also his voicemail that I was repeatedly directed to. But all of my emails were copied to all three email addresses listed on Thunder's contact page. I have no idea whether "Paul" saw any of those dozen or so emails, but they were never responded to, except for the above.
  3. Earl's stainless lines are an excellent upgrade for the money. Hawk pads come highly recommended on here as well. Most stock-size rotor upgrades are cosmetic only, and won't help with performance. Some will even hurt brake performance slightly, due to decreased contact area.
  4. BTW, got the front and rear Hawk pads for $115 shipped from here: http://www.performancepeddler.com/ Thunder is charging $150.10 for the same pads. Earl's lines were $127.95 shipped from here: http://www.woodwardspecialties.com/ A little priceier than Thunder ($121.99 + ship), but less than Summit ($136.94 shipped), and Woodward they had them in stock!
  5. Finally reached my wits end today after about three more weeks of no contact from Thunder, so I cancelled. Got all three items (Earl's lines, Hawk front and rear pads, along with some ATE super blue) on eBay for considerably less than Thunder Racing was charging. Glad to hear so many have had success there, but I'll never order from them again.
  6. Sounds like Richmond... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I've done Richmond too - great track, great race, but with the traffic, never again. I'll continue to watch the big screen from my recliner with fridge and bathroom just a few steps away.
  7. I gave up my season tickets to both Dover races when the traffic just got too bad to deal with, even the back way. One year took over 7hrs from Wilmington leaving at 6am. On a better note, I saw my first ever SSS parked there at the spring '03 race and I owned one by the fall race. I did the Coke 600 last weekend too - now there's a place that knows how to handle traffic. I was in my hotel room within an hour after the checkered flag, and that ws 18 miles away. Did Talladega too, and that was another traffic nightmare. Didn't leave my parking spot for over 2 hours.
  8. Nope - this problem is separate from the door rattle, I have two separate door rattles. One when the window is down (sounds like something has worked loose), and another that comes from the door hinges when driving over bumps. I gave up on getting those fixed by the dealer - twice they blamed it on my exhaust, as if the two have anything to do with one another. Maybe you didn't understand my frustration, I understand that they need to do diagnosis. But we're not talking about "my truck makes a noise when I stop" where there would be something to diagnose. We're talking about a broken piece of trim - what "diagnosis" does that require? Why should I need a 1st trip to the dealer is to make an appointment (never by phone), service guy comes out and looks at problem, makes appointment to drop off. 2nd trip is for the drop off, get a call at the end of the day saying yep, it's broken, come and pick it up, we had to order parts. That requires a 3rd trip to the dealer for the actual repair. That's nuts! And as for a recall, I get a notice in the mail FROM THE DEALER which says come in so we can do the following recall. Then when I drop it off for the recall, all they do is run the VIN, note that the recall hasn't been performed, and order parts. No diagnosis there either! That should be one day at the dealer, not two.
  9. See if AUTOGUY still has pics in his garage - he had my black wheels setup next to his red SS before I bought them from him.
  10. Okay - seems odd that something so flimsy would only be breaking on my truck. I hope it's not due to all of the dynamat I have installed, just waiting for the dealer to blame me for it. And to add insult to injury, they pulled the old double-appointment where they schedule a drop-off to diagnose something ("yep, it's broken") and then schedule you another day for an install after parts are ordered. I would think GM's warranty department wouldn't put up with that crap, but they do it to me every time. Drives me nuts. Plus they did it to me twice in one week - "yep, your C5 hasn't been in for that recall yet, so we'll have to schedule you for another day..." So frustrating!
  11. My truck is 300mi from going out of warranty, so it's at the dealership today for it's third door panel replacement on the driver's side, and first on the passenger. Seems the catch for the switch housing (where the window and lock switches are) keeps breaking, which allows the housing to flop around, especially when the door is closed. Brilliant design by GM, one tiny catch breaks and an entire door panel is needed. Am I the only one with this problem? They seem to break from everyday wear-and-tear. After six or eight months of normal opening and closing, this catch breaks again. I'll be out of warranty by next week, and I hate to think I'll have to deal with this forever.
  12. After leaving a rather strongly worded voicemail this morning requesting that my order be cancelled once and for all, I finally received the first communication from Thunder Racing since my order was placed on 4/22: I am very sorry for no one getting back with you as of yet. This is partly my fault. I have received your emails but have been unable to find out a delivery date on the parts you ordered. We have your order and nothing has been billed yet but all of your items are still out of stock. The Hawk pads I expect to receive next week but I do not have an ETA on the Earl's lines. They are currently on backorder from Earl's for an expected 2-3 weeks longer. Again I apologize for the delay in responding to your inquiry's. This is entirely my fault. Please let me know if you need anymore information. I promise I will not be remiss in contacting you again. I'm glad they finally responded, but I can't say I'm very happy with the response. Frankly this just doesn't come close to explaining why they ignored a customer's many inquiries for almost a month. How about a quick email: "we have your order but the items are out of stock, we will keep you posted..."??
  13. Called again today and was directed to the same voicemail that I've left messages on two times previously. I will give them until them another day or two, and then I'll call my CC company. But I want to do that as a last resort - I'd really prefer to speak to a human at Thunder Racing and cancel my order. And tell them why. Just to give it one more shot, I sent another email to sales, tech, and order info. That's three separate emails. If I get no response, I give up.
  14. I should have been more clear in my original post. I received an email notification after I placed my order on 4/22 with a total, including an internet order discount. My original post was referring to receiving nothing further after this point. The notice that I did receive stated that I would get a conformation email when my order was processed and another email with tracking info when my order shipped. I have received neither. My CC has still not been charged. I just want an explanation for the lack of communication, including ignored emails and phone calls. Again, I'd cancel this order if I could figure out how.
  15. Sent two more emails and left two voicemails. No response, I'm not happy. I'd cancel my order and go elsewhere, but I can't even get a hold of anyone to do that!
  16. After reading about them on the forum, I ordered Hawk pads and Earl's lines from Thunder Racing on 4/22. I've gotten nothing from them since that time - no confirming email, no shipment notificaiton, and no response to several emails. Should I be worried?
  17. Awesome - I have the exact same setup (Eradispeeds, Hawk pads, Earl's lines) sitting on the floor of my garage waiting for a spare afternoon. I've already powdercoated the brackets red to match my calipers. What fluid are you going with Brian?
  18. Great looking truck! Where did you buy your intros? I've been thinking about getting a set for the GTO and there aren't many retailers.
  19. Sweet! I'll be there this weekend in the garage and I'll try to get some pics!
  20. I'm pretty sure it can be disabled by unscrewing the antenna on the roof...I think the dumbest criminal could figure that one out. I've renewed mine twice, I hate paying, but I have used it a few times and it's nice to know it's there. Plus I get a decent discount on my auto insurance.
  21. Took me a while to figure this out, the buttons are a little illogical.
