  1. this looks like a a LOT of work i think it would be more beneficial for someone like me with one one vehicle(the ss) to order a rebuilt one then install myself only adding my input cause im looking at some serious diff issues in my near future,got a lot of not very good mechanical sounds coming from the front end just like the last time i had diff issues getting to the point you can feel it driving,how long would it take to to a one for one swap with a refurbished unit? and if i did so would anyone be interested in my old complete unit ? thinking i could maybe sell it for more than what the core charge will be on old one
  2. funny you mention all that cause i already replaced a wheel bearing,front diff is going out (got the infamous whirlling and growling)has weak power window motors i need to get around to replacing,the trans shifts great right now with 108 on the clock but that is eventually getting upgrades anyways
  3. wow i have renewed faith in the ss once again,what should i be worried about then other than the obvious tie rods
  4. wondering generally how strong the stock transfer case is in the 2004 silverado ss,should i be afraid of "launching" alot with just the stock t case or no worries? thanks in advance
  5. yeah that sounds good i really like the look of the side exit i have a real mean looking slant cut y pipe style tip i want to use for side exit but im worried about the drone i had a super 40 or something similar on my old 5.3 with a 3 inch side exit and it was god awful to the max with all the drone very strange tone i dont wish to experience ever again i guess screw it ill mock it up for a side exit use some band clamp style clamps if it drones screw it ill route it to the rear something like yours...bassmaster bassmaster what is your single tube size is?
  6. thats actually what i think im going to do with a magnaflow,is that aero real loud at idle? and any drone? really like the look of a side exit but im still debating that to keep in cab noise down and does anyone happen to know if the factory dual pipes are exactly 2.5 or are they a hair off closer to 2.75?
  7. just curious which borla mufflers your thinking exactly,i like that mufflers with packing usually are not to raspy but i dont like the fact that packing 9 times out of 10 burns out over time
  8. with the pump and injector really make the switch worth it? any estimates savings per gallon?
  9. want some thoughts and opinions on a specific exhaust setup first ill explain the configuration...im going to cut off the factory muffler on my 04 ss install a jones flowpack muffler on each of the dual exhaust pipes,going to a y pipe to 90 degree elbow ending in some kind of tip exiting just infront of the right rear tire,my main concerns are with just how loud this configuration will most likely be if i should expect alot of drone with these mufflers in this location etc.. mufflers will be 2.5 id (13 inch case 5 inches round) y- pipe will be 2.5 dual id to 3 inch single out 90 degree elbow will be 3 inch

  11. anyone tried running e85? did you tune for it? experienced any cons with running it other than less mpg
  12. need some help...recently my 04 ss has developed a strange squeel, screeching sound that seems to be coming from the passenger side center of truck to rear right tire area.. brakes have been completely ran through and replaced as of yesterday thinking that would take care of this strange squeaking going on and after the brakes have been replaced the sound still isnt gone..i also took the rear diff cover off to look for signs of a worn bearing but i didnt find any crazy shavings stuck to the magnet or any other signs of concern ,took a look at the u joints(put truck in neutral and tryd to shake the drive shaft for looseness and nothing didnt budge at all although the u joints did look relatively old...even still i dont think thats wher the noise is coming from...also checked the rear brakes to look for stuck rocks and didnt find any...is ther something im missing ,is ther something else to check?noise seems come and go at complete random,thanks in advance
  13. thats somewhat what i was thinking and im assuming why the previous owner took all the decals off just some paint fade discoloration on the tailgate her the stickers were luckly you can hardly tell but its still a little anoying,and that explains why i did find some odd wiring
  14. so i recently picked up my first ss,its record shows that its life started as a memphis tennessee raceway pace vehicle and shows wher the pace vehicle decals used to be...would this add any value to the truck what so ever? anyone ever bought a former "pace vehicle" and pay under or over the normal blue book price

  16. curious if anyone has ran 100+ octane vp or equivalent race fuel in ther ss,on what circumstances i.e autocross/drag or anything in between please share the results
  17. i was hoping someone had some experience with multi-fire spark plugs on the mpg side of things,i think its NGK that makes them along with a couple other well known brands
  18. just got my first ss a little while back and im looking to do a relative tune up here soon...wondering if other have found it worth while to install top dollar plugs and wires with any hard evidence of better mpg's and hp? no specific brand in mind,thanks in advance
