I know there are a bunch of guides floating around of people changing the backlights on the gauges. I'm sure in one of those threads somebody mentions the blue tinting you're talking about.
-
Yes but it u install an aftermarket radio it doesn't work anymore...
Why would it not? Couldn't you just wire the new head unit in? I wonder if you could replace it with an aftermarket sub.
-
You're correct about the size on both front and back speakers
6 1/2 front with tweeters on the pillar
4 x 6 rear
And I think a (6" or 8") sub in the center console. But I could be wrong on the sub size.
There's a sub in the center console??

Congrats on finding her.
Make sure to get a really alarm and maybe even a kill switch. Because these truck are Hot items here inn Cali
Yeah I have been interested in doing that actually, but I don't know much about them. I know the truck comes with an alarm from the factory, not sure what the difference between that and an aftermarket one is though. Is there any info about kill switches on the forums? Maybe I'll look around and see what I can find.

Why did you decide to sell it? Great looking truck.
-
Congrats on getting your truck Killa.
Put a time lock on your wallet.
Haha yeah I'll definitely try to. Fortunately the truck is in pretty good shape and doesn't need much work at all honestly.

Why not try a local auto wrecker? There are a million GMT 800's laying around in junk yards. I'm sure you could find one local. The mirrors were the same across all the GMT 800 trucks. It was not "special" to an SS. You can pop the part off that matches the body color.....
Were the turn signals in the mirrors not exclusive to the SSs? I've never seen a regular Silverado with those that weren't aftermarket.

Do you know what the dimensions were though for the speakers?
-
Sounds good! Did you end up with the truck from Texas?
Yes I did actually! I'm really excited about it and finally feel like an authentic member on this site now haha.
-
Hey all,
Does anyone know the dimensions of the speakers in these trucks? Mine has the Bose system if that matters.
I looked in my truck and saw two in the front on the door panels, two tweeters in the front above the dash, and two in the rear on the door panels above the cupholders.
From what I have found online, it looks like the front are 6 1/2" speakers and the rear are 4" x 6". Can anyone could confirm this for me?

Honestly I think the stock SS tips are ugly If I ever get a new catback done I'll let you know.
-
Can anyone link the video? For some reason all I see is a picture.

I really like the look of a dumped exhaust more than the sound honestly. I think the look of having no exhaust pipes is super clean. I'm pretty positive in California having a dumped exhaust under the car is still legal, because I have a friend with it dumped on his truck that I know for a fact is legal.Depending on how strict your inspection people are, dumped may not be legal, either. Some states will specifically say the exhaust has to exit at the rear of the vehicle.
Dumped will also generally be louder inside the cab with more drone. I actually like it, especially on lowered trucks, but I'm just sayin'.

My recommendation would be Corsa or a replacement muffler with a custom dump before or after the axle. This way you can stay Cali smog legal.
So are you recommending that I buy a Corsa kit and then have someone modify it to dump instead of coming out the back?
-
Thanks Brother. I'll be around a while too. I don't do much social media so these old school sites are "it" for me.
My biggest worry as far as this site slowing so much is the wealth of knowledge about the trucks that could be lost.
Hey as long as the admins keep paying the server fees this site and it's wealth of knowledge will live on.

the drop is 3" up front and 4" in the rear.
So it's not level then right?
-
Are you me? Because I'm in the exact same situation right now..
I think I want a dumped dual exhaust setup, because I just think they just look cool honestly lol. I am in California as well, so I'm facing the same restrictions, and I know I couldn't get a "true dual exhaust". Also, on the topic of smog checks, does anyone know of a shop that would be a little flexible..?

Over 900 horsepower on that thing? Holy shit man. I like the stance on it though, what's the drop?
-
I'm actually digging those wheels.. not usually a fan of the black wheels but they look better than the matte black ones I see everywhere.

Don't know where in Cali you are, but SS Motorsports in Simi Valley does good work

I'm in NorCal but I'd be willing to drive somewhere for quality work.

i don't know man I'm not really a track driver I only do stop light to stop light pulls vs whoever revs their cars at me but maybe someone with more track experience can give you some tips
So would you say that your 0-60 time is more important than your 1/4 mile in regards to street races?
-
I'd say it all depends on different factors.. driver, weather conditions, tires, even the track itself, etc... you can have a 1000+ hp car but if you can't drive, you can be doing 15 sec 1/4 passes
Very true.. any tips for the driving aspect?

Hey everyone,
Can anyone here from California recommend some great shops that they take their trucks to? Any shops at all, from exhaust, performance, suspension, paint, body, tire, etc. I want to have some good reliable places to take my truck to when I eventually get one.
Thanks.

Anyone know what kind of times you'd be looking at with 500-600 horses under the hood? If I build a truck I think that's where I'd be comfortable keeping it at.

Where does this part actually go on the truck? Anyone have pictures? Maybe I'm missing something here lol.
