  1. Congrats on finding her.

Make sure to get a really alarm and maybe even a kill switch. Because these truck are Hot items here inn Cali

Yeah I have been interested in doing that actually, but I don't know much about them. I know the truck comes with an alarm from the factory, not sure what the difference between that and an aftermarket one is though. Is there any info about kill switches on the forums? Maybe I'll look around and see what I can find.

  2. Why not try a local auto wrecker? There are a million GMT 800's laying around in junk yards. I'm sure you could find one local. The mirrors were the same across all the GMT 800 trucks. It was not "special" to an SS. You can pop the part off that matches the body color.....

Were the turn signals in the mirrors not exclusive to the SSs? I've never seen a regular Silverado with those that weren't aftermarket.

  3. Hey all,

Does anyone know the dimensions of the speakers in these trucks? Mine has the Bose system if that matters.

I looked in my truck and saw two in the front on the door panels, two tweeters in the front above the dash, and two in the rear on the door panels above the cupholders.

From what I have found online, it looks like the front are 6 1/2" speakers and the rear are 4" x 6". Can anyone could confirm this for me?

  4. Depending on how strict your inspection people are, dumped may not be legal, either. Some states will specifically say the exhaust has to exit at the rear of the vehicle.

Dumped will also generally be louder inside the cab with more drone. I actually like it, especially on lowered trucks, but I'm just sayin'.

    Richard

I really like the look of a dumped exhaust more than the sound honestly. I think the look of having no exhaust pipes is super clean. I'm pretty positive in California having a dumped exhaust under the car is still legal, because I have a friend with it dumped on his truck that I know for a fact is legal.
  5. My recommendation would be Corsa or a replacement muffler with a custom dump before or after the axle. This way you can stay Cali smog legal.

So are you recommending that I buy a Corsa kit and then have someone modify it to dump instead of coming out the back?

  6. Thanks Brother. I'll be around a while too. I don't do much social media so these old school sites are "it" for me.

My biggest worry as far as this site slowing so much is the wealth of knowledge about the trucks that could be lost.

Hey as long as the admins keep paying the server fees this site and it's wealth of knowledge will live on.

  7. Are you me? Because I'm in the exact same situation right now..

I think I want a dumped dual exhaust setup, because I just think they just look cool honestly lol. I am in California as well, so I'm facing the same restrictions, and I know I couldn't get a "true dual exhaust". Also, on the topic of smog checks, does anyone know of a shop that would be a little flexible..?

  8. i don't know man I'm not really a track driver I only do stop light to stop light pulls vs whoever revs their cars at me but maybe someone with more track experience can give you some tips

So would you say that your 0-60 time is more important than your 1/4 mile in regards to street races?

  9. I'd say it all depends on different factors.. driver, weather conditions, tires, even the track itself, etc... you can have a 1000+ hp car but if you can't drive, you can be doing 15 sec 1/4 passes

Very true.. any tips for the driving aspect?
