  1. Depending on the date I woul like to come watch the install (I can fetch beer or sodas). I am in Columbus but I have to go up to Michigan this weekend for wedding/family reunion and will probably be going up the following weekend for a carshow. DW
  2. 03 w/ 54,000 06 Uplander (work van) w/ 40,400 DW
  3. I Haven't seen that brand, but I see a lot of RVs with the 3M version on the front end. I personally don't like the lines (depends how its cut/installed) showing...but it does beat stone chips. DW
  4. Don't know about the block, but talked w/ my brother (engineer @ GM casting plant) and the only markings they put on the cylinder heads is a 3 digit number to identify it. I think ours is 317. It is near the front next to the valve cover. DW
  5. Hi, I used to use GMAC, switched to Progressive and saved and now I use Travelers insurance. 27 years old with an OWI 5 years ago and a couple speeding tickets over the last 7 years. I was going for a Nation Wide quote and the agent told me about Travelers (carried both). The Travelers was less than 1/2 of the Nation Wide if I remember right. DW
  6. Fusor has a new product out for dressing tires. Fusor is well known for its panel bonding and bumper repair, as far as I know this is new to their product offering. A store owner I know had some on his 300C and commented that it lasted a long time. You'll probably only find this product in stores that specialize in paint and some store will need to order it out of a warehouse. DW
  7. I used to listen to a lot of SKA, the Pilfers were good listening. DW
  8. Hi any reason you choose their (insurance) preferred shop rather than go to you own? DW
  9. Did anyone on the board get to see the Late Model dirt track race in Eldora, OH this weekend. The NASCAR guys were there running Wednesday and Tony Stewart (Track Owner) won, they put on a good show. A buddy of mine (#55 Jeep Vanwarmer)came from 8th in his heat race to 1st to get himself into the feature. He ended up finishing 2nd in the 100 lap feature and was in first near the end of the race. They also have a SS as the pace truck. DW
  10. Next time some advanced notice for Radix rides would be appreciated...where do I get tickets?? DW
  11. I was at a shop up in Detriot last summer and they were doing some work on a Viper, I asked the tech what had happened. The car would not start so the owner decided to push it down the driveway (steep hill) jump in and pop the clutch. I thought this only worked in Escorts While the car was faster than the driver that morning and ended up hitting the curb at the road, I forgot how much $$$ the damage was for. I also heard of a body tech using some structural adhesive to glue some things together underneath a car. You use Structural Adhesvie for fixing bumpers, bonding panels the list goes on for its many applications. While I guess he had a fast setting adhesive and while he was underneath the car there was some glue on the floor that came in contact with his hair! It set-up and there was no one left at the shop(after hours) so he wasn't going anywhere. That is untill he found a razor blade, after a while of cutting and a great hair style he got free. shops DW
  12. When you open the glove box, can you see what the wire is comming from? Do get a better view behind the glove box, when you open it up push in on the right (passenger) side of the glove box and it will fold all the way down allowing you to possibly see where the wire is running to. I've got a USA Spec Ipod interface that allows me to control it from the wheel controls. DW
  13. No help here with fixing the original unit. I hear she wants to save money, but if the funds are available pick up a head unit that accepts an IPOD, or other portable music device. I've been driving with a truck full of CDs for the last 3 years and have nearly scratched them all. I now have my IPOD hooked into the factory controls, no CDs in the truck anymore...unless I just picked it up from the store. Kept my XM, but now I nearly never use it. DW
  14. Let me know if you remember the name of the product that you used on the vinyl boat seats, otherwise I'll ask my buddy who works at a marina when I'm up cleaning the car after Labor Day. Thanks for the replies DW
  15. I pulled my 68 Dodge Coronet Wagon out of storage Monday to prep for a possible sale, it's been in stoarge for the last 2-1/2 years and has accumulated some mold on the seats and the dash. I washed it off with soap and water and will be traveling back up to Michigan to finish cleaning/detailing/fixing the car in a couple weeks. Any suggestions for fianl clean up, I have the car outside now and on the nice days my parents are going to roll down the windows to allow it to air out. I also may go over the areas where the mold was with a mixture of bleach and water or just hit the areas again with warm soap and water. Thanks DW
  16. Just recieved my Hidden hitch / Flip down plate holder, do the pans have a hole where the hidden hitch is or does it need to be cut out upon installation? Thanks DW
  17. I was working up in Detroit the past 3 weeks and saw a few around the Livonia area, don't remember if they were State Police or local though. DW
  18. Just made the phone call and ordered mine. In a few weeks I will be going on vacation and I am going to check w/ my parents neighbor to see what he can do for rear exhaust exits for fabing into the BSER pan. Looking forward to getting it installed. DW EDIT--Just ordered hidden hitch so I can still do some hauling, lighted bolts for the plate, and flip down bracket also.
  19. I'm going to have to paint my SS plaid, because anyone who has seen Space Balls know's plaid is the fastest color. It allows you to go beyond ludicrous Speed..I'm stuck there with mine being Blue DW
  20. Hi, Is the double sided tape sticking to the panel of the vehicle? I couldn't tell if it was attatched to the molding or on the vehicle. I know our double sided tape has a 2 year shelf life, but if they have tried several times I doubt they had outdated products more than once. Again if it is not sticking to the molding they are probably not using an adhesion promoter. If it is not sticking to the panel they are probably not thoroughly cleaning the panel. Hope you get it figured out. I was also up in Toledo today and saw 2 red SS'S up there one was in a body shop the other on I-75. DW
  21. Go with the buy it now for 40K...you won't regret it. And have him fill the bed up with what ever he is smoking. DW
  22. Hi, Most companies that manufacture double sided tape have an adhesion promoter that is recommended on ALL plastic emblems and moldings. Clean all of the old adhesive on the molding, several methods rubber flap wheel (best) soak in release agent that allows the tape to come off easily...I have heard of a Neon molding changing colors after beeing soaked or plain old fasion elbow grease w/ putty knife. 3M has little packets that you tear open and only apply to the molding...there should be a flash time. We have a promoter that is in a bottle w/ dobber. Apply to molding where you will be putting on the double sided tape, allow product to flash after 5 minutes then apply the double sided tape. No promoter is needed on the paint, just clean and dry the surface and I would have the side that you are working on in the shade so the panel is around ~65 to 80 degrees. Any paint store will have this adhesion promoter and if the dealership has a body shop they should be familiar with it...but I have been to countless shops that are unaware that you NEED to use an adhesion promoter for the injected molded plastics and double sided tape. You could also use a 3" grinding disc and grind to bare metal w/ 36 grit on vehicle, then use the grinder on the back side of the molding (use different adhesion promoter...allow to flash) and use some structural adhesive that is used to fix bumpers. This probably is not the wayyou want to do it. DW
  23. Anyone going to the Chrysler Classic this weekend just outside Columbus, OH? Thinking of either driving the SS over or try to hitch a ride with a friend coming down from MI in a Challenger TA. DW
  24. Some of the NASCAR drivers are racing at Eldora this Wednesday I believe. DW
  25. I was up at the Silver Lake sand dunes this past weekend and saw a blue SS parked at a house near the dunes, anyone from the forum? DW
