  1. Next time you feel that tired driving, don't, or if you have to, drive with the radio blasted like Ace Ventura with your head out the window after a Red Bull or two.

I made that mistake once and luckily the "woop woop" :dupe: woke me up before anything happened.

  2. Yea...cancel your appointment and screw the stealership. Take off the airbag ( use a small screwdriver or coat hanger for both holes on the sides of the steering wheel) unplug it, turn the ignition on, then try plugging it back in with the ignition forward to see if the light goes off. It worked when mine came on after punching it (now it rattles and shakes but no light ). It could be a number of things, but I would go through the entire airbag system to at least try and fix it before going to the dealer IMO. It could be a sensor in a seat, loose ground, bad plug connection... Check the rearview when you sit in the pass seat to see if it works or not. If you open and let the glove box down you can check the plug and wires to the pass airbag in the dash. Check with a multimeter for voltage and impedance too.

  3. Its easier to take the ten or fifteen minutes to remove the manifold, than to fight getting your hand back there. And if the sensor is really tight, finding any kinda decent angle to get more torque on it to break it loose is near impossible. Downside to removing the manifold, especially with the mileage, is you'll probably need new gaskets.

However you go about replacing the sensor, it's better to ensure it's not the pump and save yourself from shelling out more cash on a new motor or rebuild.

  4. The perimeter lighting feature doesn't work whatsoever? Or the lights under the side mirrors no longer work?

When scrolling through the DIC as you said you did, you can have it set on and off. If yours is set ON and it's not working, you may have to have the BCM checked.

  5. A lot of the other wires on full power doors plug into the factory harness on full trim trucks and go to the BCM. You would have to get wiring schematics for both trucks and try to wire the power doors into yours once you who which each pin goes to and where to wire it if possible. Otherwise, you may have to swap the harness too.

Never done a swap on a silverado, but that's what I did on a buddy's ranger.

  6. Depending on which heads you want, there may be a gain to be had or a loss. Which heads were you looking at and do you ever plan on adding boost or spray? Your overall goals for what you want to do should depend on the heads you pick now unless you like swapping them out. If you're just gonna do a simple head swap, then you'll need new gaskets, possibly intake manifold gaskets depending on their condition, new coolant, exhaust gaskets, hardened pushrods and springs if you'd choose to and swap out your stock tc too.

  7. It's possible you may have a warped rotor, but you would feel it slightly under regular braking and driving conditions. My truck has done it too when I have done the same thing, but I think it's the crappy vacuum setup. I almost have everything to do the hydraboost setup and hope that will fix the problem.

  8. It can definitely be done to the SS. A few years back I tossed around the idea and had a motor and trans on hand to do the swap. I just couldn't bring myself to do it. I would have rather gotten a rcsb silvy and dropped a dmax in there and made it look like a SS than hack that far into my real one.

You'll obviously need to fab up motor mounts, swap out the harness, new driveshafts, pedals, and a lot of other stuff too. Luckily for you, you have a 2wd SS so it won't be as bad to mock up. I say go for it though man.

  9. Hi-flow cats are a waste of money IMO. Had em and burnt em up real quick. If they do a visual inspection on vehicles where you live, you're gonna need to have cats. Otherwise, just pay someone on the side to do the job. You'd be surprised how many people would do it for a few extra bucks.
