  1. Confronted the yard guy today and now owe him 90 bucks. When he finished I went out and asked him if he remembered a spare tire on the side of the house. I told him I started getting curious about thefts after his tailgate disappeared. Stumbling on his words he told me he "had bought 2 spares from a guy with a bunch of tires in the back of his truck. Maybe one of them might have been mine" I told him I couldn't remember if I let a friend borrow it or misplaced it at another house. He didn't come clean and stuttered the entire time. Proof enough for me. If it rains more, he should be back for his money and another cut in 2 or 3 weeks. I've got bricks, charged 1/2" Snap-On cordless impact with 3/4" socket, and the little valve stem tool ready to go. Timed him today too. Just under 6 minutes to cut the backyard, plenty of time to take all 4 if I so choose.

  2. Just for you I went and put a woppin 76 miles on it lol

Thanks  Better have been enjoyable miles :takealook::jester:

I got over the whole mileage thing when I started replacing everything. Before long, only some windows, the body, and chassis will have the miles that the odometer says lol.

  3. If you just care about getting by, leave it as it is instead of trying to piece things together through time. Doing a cam swap entails other details as I'm sure you've read, and that is the "correct" way to do it. If you are more concerned about occasionally towing, then trans work should be at the top of your list and it will support the mods you want down the road. I don't know what you plan on towing, but there are some members who have hauled pretty big loads stock without issue. If you need a work horse that's dependable with towing capabilities, try to find yourself an early to mid 90's Dodge with a 12v. You can also use it as your daily and get to work on the SS.

  4. You're not gonna put out crazy power or anything and I'm not saying that in a bad way, but I would say the stock trans is not a supporting mod. You're going to want to put a few bucks into the simple things at least. A shift kit and servos are the most common first mods to it. Also a larger trans cooler for the converter and a re-tune. I'm pointing all this out to you because it seems you're trying to this on a tight budget. In which case I say save up and do it right the first time.

  5. I doubt it's the servo since it's been fine for 15k miles. Watch the rpms at the point it will and won't shift from when you get on the gas to the point you have to let off. If all the other gears are working just fine up and down, it could be the clutch pack. I'm hoping one of those lurking around who knows their way around the 4l60 better, will chime in here soon for ya.

If you can get the drain plug out of the pan, consider yourself lucky. If not, you'll have to loosen it all the way around and crack one side to drain it and it usually gets messy. The filter and the solenoids are extremely easy to change once the pan is off.

  6. You can build a better truck for less. I'd pass on it regardless. I doubt the guy would knock off like 5k to make it sell. IMHO, it's not very fast, not spacious, and wouldn't want a pre-customized truck. Just think what could be done to an SS with that kinda money.

  7. Equally as important is the grade the headers are made from. Ceramic offers the most protection, bare polished stainless is also pretty, but won't withstand to salt and ice as well. Painted headers are most often just steel that will rust rather quickly when the paint weakens and/or chips. You get what you pay for most of the times. 6 years later and my ceramic coated TOGs are still in excellent shape, but I also live in south Florida.

  8. Another Justin. Welcome to the forum

Congrats on your new truck. Maintenance wise, the brakes may need to be done, grease up all the joints, plugs, wires, air filter, fuel filter, wiper blades, check the shocks, and of course change the oil. Do you know what has been done to it already?
