  1. Thanks! The TSB you should all note is 1587795 In it, they say the using of an exessivly/overoiled aftermarket, or reusable air fileter may result in: Service Engine soon (SES) light On Transmission shift concerns, slipped and dammange clutch(es) or band(s) Engine drivability concerns, poor acceleration from a stop, limited engine RPM. "the use of an aftermarket reusable air filter DOES NOT void the vehicle's warranty". "DO NOT repair MAF sensors under warranty if concerns result from the use of an exessively/over-oiled aftermarket resusable air filter" basically what they say happens is the oil from the air filter gets on the MAF, the MAF then begins to collect debris, because it sticks the oily film on the wires because of the air filter oil. This then causes drivability problems.. HOWEVER in my case, the filter was not over oiled, it was put on as it came out of the box.. my MAF was dirty, but my main problem was injector #3 was not working properly.. why they didnt just check them when they were cleaning them is beyond me!! Also, what worries me is if I go to WOT on the high way, or strip, its going to cause the SES to flash, but then turn off.. that bothers me tons!!! The techniciian actually took a 30 minute ride with me on the highway to see how I drive and to make sure I cant recreate the experience. Later in the day, I thought Id go WOT to test it, without the tech in the car. and the SES flashed for about a minute, then went away. Am I nuts, or should this not happen.. do I need a custom tune to work with the K&N???

I thought this was interesting http://www.chevyhiperformance.com/tech/eng..._modifications/
  4. got the truck back she runs pretty damned nice now turns out injector #3 was the problem. they replaced it and cleaned all my injectors again and didnt charge me a thing BUT..they did say that if i were to step on the gas.. (floor it), the SES could come on flashing.. this is because the amount of air coming in is greater than the computer was calibrated for.. yeah yeah. i think thats BS
  5. well, im gonna wait and see what crap they tell me tomorrow.. then im gonna go ape shite on them. im basically going to let them hang themselves.
  6. OMG These guys are getting on my LAST nerve now. They just called me.. they cannot find anything.. and are 'still checking' they want the factory air box to 'test with for a day'. at least they are paying for a rental car for me so I can go to work ! WTF I wanna just beat them with the factory air box screaming "AN AIR CLEANER DOES NOT CAUSE A SPECIFIC MISFIRE ON CYLINDER #3!!!" but then id just get hauled away..
  7. ahh you texans.. never get you riled up eh?? LOL seriously.. very VERY good points to make. I wouldnt mind paying for the injection flush, injector cleaning crap if thats what I took i there for. .I didnt. i took it there to fix a MISFIRE.. are they telling me that thier equipment CANNNOT tell them what cylinder to check? autozone told me in about 10 seconds. On top of that, why didnt they check the plugs? one check of #2 and i found it was cracked!!! if only i had the tools to see the codes so i could have proven it was one part or the other..
  8. im going to give them one last shot at it.. strike #3 as it were..
  9. if they dont honor the warranty, or tell me it will cost me more to fix it, ill just say "thank you" and pick up my truck. no work done. ill then take it to another dealer (one i never had problems with), and have them fix it. heck , i should call them now just in case. heck heck, i should call the Better Business Bureau on the dealership that cant fix it, or refund me for the work they did, which didnt fix the problem..
  10. i just talked to the service manager at the dealer. seems like a nice enough guy. He just told me that he recently got a TSB from Chevy about after market air cleaners and Mass Airflow Sensors. because some people over oil the filters, they burn out the MAS. Chevy will not warranty an MAS if you have an aftermarket air filter. he is investigating my issue(s). I told him #1, fix the truck, find the real problem and fix it.. #2, lets talk about a refund for the induction flush and injector cleaning since that was not the solution to this problem.
  11. i also have a stock airbox setup, but no filter.
  12. thanks a ton! its at the dealer now. I told them I knew the code, and what cylinder to check im betting its a bad coil pack. just to be sure.. gap should have been set ato .060 on the plugs right?
  13. the only plug that showed me problems was the plug furthest towards the front of the engine, on the passenger side. Is that #3?
  14. went to auto zone. they reset the light , and gave me a code P0303 error cylinder number 3 misfire. i went home and checked.. one wire was loose, so i reseated it. took it for a cruise. whammo.. solid light again.. calling the dealer now.
  15. pffft even better! i was reading about coil backs a few minutes ago.. does changing them out to 'better ones' help you in any way?
  16. ill will stop by the local autozone tomorrow morning to get it cleared and find out the code #.. do they charge much for that service?
  17. ok so what do we think is next in the chain... coil packs? Are they dangerous for the average person to swap out? are they expensive? would they be coverd by warranty? im wondering if the work I did fixed the problem, but I need the Chevy place to reset the error code??? They probably will anyway. I was hoping to drive in and say "i swapped plugs and wires, found a cracked plug, and a oily boot, i want you to check this. (insert part here).." im also going to tell them I want a refund for the intake flush, since we know thats not the solution, which they told me it was. I also want to fight them on putting the stock airbox back on.. WTF.. ITS NOT THE AIRBOX. and we all know it. how can the airbox cause a misfire?
  18. Think the O2's would be covered by a warranty? the guy said I have 'the best warranty available"....?
  19. ok it was a pain, but i got all the plugs AND wires replaced. I notice the truck does run quite a bit nicer, better throttle response, etc... just plain better BU THAT DAMNED LIGHT IS STILL ON! when i hit between 65 and 70, the light goes to flashing. I slow down, comes back to solid.. im thinking at this point.. O2 sensor???
  20. The spark plug wire boot had oil in it. i still havent taken the plugs out cuz i cant get a socket in there.
  21. I replaced all the plug wires. Problem is still there... solid SES light. I took it for a spin to see if time would remove the light.. as soon as I hit 65 MPH, and I was acellerating hard, the light went flashing, then as I slowed down, went solid again. The wires looked good, except one cylinder, which looked to have a bunch of oil in it.. perhaps this cylinder isnt quite right? i also bought NGKTR55 plugs, but I cant get a socket in deep enough to remove the plugs. Is there a special tool I need for this? I want to replace the plugs and wires so I can tell them Ive done this. I want to prove its not the K&N intake.
  22. where can i buy some arrival blue paint? I want to paint my engine covers the same color as the outside of my truck.
  23. can u share with me the part number you used?
