  1. Thanks The Idea behind doing this is because Air Ride Tech makes a set of shock waves that fits a Tahoe which has tortion bars and I just wanted to see how far the suspention can go with the wheels and tires. It looks like they would work from the info I got from air ride the shock waves should bottom out just before the tire hits the inner fender well. These plans aren't going to happen anytime soon because I don't have the $$$ right now. I did have a lot of extra time on my hands so I figured I would check it out.
  2. After messing with the steering shaft and BS I decided to mess with it and see how low the suspention with my wheels and tires would go. So I pulled out the keys and let the truck down as low as it would go untill the tires hit the inner fender.
  3. Well I changed the oil today in the VHO and decided to try and fix that damn steering clunk so I pulled the entire steering shaft out which is 2 pieces and found nothing wrong with the piece that meets the steering box. I then removed the part that goes throught the rubber boot to the bottom of the steering column under the dash. What I found with that is that piece is splined together and you can't get it apart well easily any ways because the end of the splines are kinda pinched over so it won't come apart. It looked like they used lithium grease which I just happened to have some so I cleaned all the grease that was there off and packed the entire shaft from one end completely full of grease which wasn't easy, I then tried to hold the grease in while moving the shaft to get the grease on the splined area. I then only cleaned off the extra grease any that could stay in the shaft stayed. In side the rubber boot is a plastic sleve of sorts about 2" long and 1 1/4 around. There are two lips at either end of this sleve and in between the lips is like a washer which has an even smaller ID and the washer kinda just floats in between the two lips. What I noticed with this part is that it looked as if GM put a little bit of lithium grease in these areas but not very much at all, and this is the only piece in the entire steering shaft assembly that I could get to simulate the clunking/vibration I was getting. I cleaned this piece and packed the ends and the center with lithium grease. I also had a rubbery squeak that bugged me since I got the truck well I noticed that the shaft was rubbing on the rubber boot a bit so I smeared some grease where it was rubbing. A note though if you decide to try this you will need some superglue because the boot is two pieces which is superglued together from the factory and the only way to get to the plastic sleve is to take the two pieces of the boot apart. I now don't have any vibrations or squeaks. I also geased the entire front suspention and the truck feels very tight again! I know I should have taken pics but it was kind of a messy job with the grease.
  4. I had noticed when I lowered my SS I got a 2/3 kit which was keys and shackles.. Well I found out that there must be something different with the SS because it only brought it down 1/2. So it is possible he bought a 2/3 kit and he never measured it to see if thats what he actually got. When I got my stuff from belltech the keys hadn't been tried on an SS but they were for a Tahoe and brought the tahoe down 2" and the shackles were for a regular silverado which set on the correct hole would give you 3" but I got an inch less out of everything for what ever reason.
  5. You can't do that. What topic is in question that you want deleted?
  6. Why are you disappointed? If so drive a 5.3 liter and trust me you won't be!!! EDIT: BTW you can get an 04+ silverado (VHO) with the same engine! I have one and its bad ass!
  7. Well my dad just got the settle ment from GM and his 04 5.3 crewcab goes back on Monday. I guess the dealer is pissed because he had to get a lawyer to get the matter settled and stated that they won't sell us any more vehicles. They said the reason is because he sent in surveys which went against the dealer... Well yeah they said the truck was fixed and it blew up in their lot when he went to pick it up. He never wrote anything bad about the dealer because they helped all they could and the surveys were more dirrected twoards GM and the poor quality of the truck he had. But anyways he went to Richard Hibbard and picked out an 06 High Output, crewcab short bed, d-max, LT3, 4x4, gray stone metallic and got it for $500 over invoice. He picks it up Monday!!!
  8. I watched it twice earlier today and it doesn't work now
  9. White is a very hard color to do anything with. Other than paint plastics all white and have some chrome accents I really don't know.
  10. Did you miss the FIRST FIVE WORDS?
  11. good point jon, im going to bring that up! but they do have two versions of it , a gear change in the t case or an output shaft change on the 80 <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yeah they have the gear change for the 4wd t-case which is completely different, the parts aren't even close and I read they are doing the trans outputshaft for the AWD deal because I gaurantee they don't have that shaft for the t-case.
  12. Thats great and all but that different output shaft for the trans has been out for a long time. Now but your just making a weak point to break something because you are still basically using the 4l60 output shaft. The whole point of going with the 4l80 is it has much stronger hard parts in it. This is why you would want to upgrade the inputshaft in the t-case to make the larger 80e outputshaft mate up with it. They also don't quite sound like they have the programming figured out and sound like they are just trying to get some product out. But give it a shot and see how far you can get with it.
  13. You wouldn't really be mounting them backwards they would still rotate in the correct dirrection.who cares what side of the tread is where??? It shouldn't matter as long as the rotation of the tire is in the right dirrection. EDIT: Read this carefully!!! Many SUV tires are directional meaning that they cannot be rotated from side to side only front to back. The Nitto 420S non-directional tread design gives you the freedom to rotate the tires front, back, and side to side. The first paragraph says "many" not nitto 420s After reading the second I would say mount them any way you want.
  14. They would have gotten a note from me. Left in the drivers door so every time they get in their vehicle it reminds them not to park so close. The last note I left was on a car that had to park as close as they could get to the passenger door while it was raining and no one could even walk in between the vehicles. I had to move my truck so my g/f could get in then I wrote a not on paper that read "Could you park any FU***NG closer next time?" I then stuck it on their window. I had my truck backed into by a lady at work, and after she did that she pulled forward and hit another guys car. Left white paint on my truck and his car and then we realised there was a white car that was no longer being driven but the lady still worked there. So we told our security guy and he said well she denied it but I believe you guys. So the other guy who has worked there for 20 years went and spoke to Gale about it and Gale said have her fired!!! She was gone the next day
  15. I'm not arguing with you.. but when it says can take them from one side to the other is understandable because it would then rotate in the other dirrection. If you get them dismounted and flipped and switch the side of the truck the tire will still be rotating the same dirrection. How is the tire going to know if it's on one side or the other? and when they are all switched no one other than those you tell will know the tires are mounted differently than intended. Isee no reason why this couldn't be done. They shouldn't wear any different because they will still rotate in the correct dirrection. I also don't see a problem up front with steering because weather the tire goes right or left it's 50/50 right and left. The tire company doesn't care they just wanna make $$$.
  16. Thanks man! PM Beardog he may beable to help you out with some product and any questions you may have!
  17. Put the rights on the left side and the lefts on the right side. No I don't mean take the wheels off and just move them. You will need to dismount the tires and have them swapped or just flip the tires over and remount them on the same wheel but then install the wheel on the other side of the truck.
  18. Not to put down Belltech's shocks (Eric) but I believe if there is nothing wrong with the way it rides then don't mess with it. The stock shocks have a lot more travel than you can even use there for your suspention will bottom out long before the shocks will. Maybe the ride is a bit better but I see nothing wrong with it. Although my ride did soften a bit in the rear after Line-x and a Gaylords cover. Maybe my buddy has a set of shocks for me
  19. As far as the antenna goes... I have seen many mobile XM units that have different plugs as far as the plastic snap in piece goes. But all the ones I have seen have the same connector as far as the metal connection goes. So you may just need to remove the plastic clips or change them around to fit which ever one you need.
  20. I could help you a bit if you knew what parts you had installed. It sounds like in the front they probably didn't cut one nub off of the bumpstops creating a very harsh ride. (if keys were used) If spindles were used then they must have changed the shocks up front and you need your stocks back. (The rear) I wouldn't go off of just by looking at it. I would losen the shackle bolts with the truck on the ground, then jounce it a bit or bounce the rear up and down by jumping on the bumper or in the bed. Then retighten the bolts. If they were tightened before the truck was put on the ground this could cause noise. Or they could have left the hitch lose a shock bolt lose or the spare tire could be lose even if it feels tight check it by using the tools provided with the truck. Also like stated before if they changed the shocks have the stock shocks put back in as a last resort if nothing else works.
  21. I believe the xm is part of the stock head unit I know that Onstar is located behind the glove box and you may be thinking of that. I don't see why you wouldn't beable to make the stock antenna work I would assume if it doesn't plug into the new XM unit you would need for the new head unit that someone would have to make an adapter. Or if you know someone who is good with wireing just change the end on the stock antenna to the new end for the new XM unit.
  22. I think i'm doin that this weekend. It won't take me 5hrs though (I hope not anyways) and I have more detail to work with.
  23. I love how he rips on his in-laws Mr. P. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> ha ha! "....why, i've got little widshield wipers that keep my headlights clean in a rainstorm" "well, i've got a place to F*CK your sister" he was talking about his van.... vs. his brother in law's MB <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Haha, I was going to past that same quote. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I think my favorite Ron White quote is when he is talking about his Van and SEARS, and how they changed his tire and then when he drove away, and the wheel fell off. ... "I guess the technician was out sick on Lug Nut Day" <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Hell yeah
