  2. Really? I found those to be so heavy. I m going to go with some Mickey Thompson Sidebiters. 16 inch with a tall tire. Tired of messing around, time to go full race truck look!
  3. Once the truck finally re-learned itself a little, I ended up picking up about a tenth so I am happy about that. I'm not so happy about losing my race due to a transmission glitch but I suppose that will happen when you do "write entire" about five different times. See my post in the transmission section for more info if you're interested. My times were very inconsistent in the beginning but settled down toward the end of the day. Again, I think that has to do with the re-learn process a bit.

    Shift Light

    Anyone ever install one? I want one to come on to let me know I have reached the right RPM to launch during drag racing. It's too difficult to watch the tach and the tree.
  6. I know some people that race in 3 on the selector but I always leave it in drive. After my transmission shenanigans this weekend, I may give it a go in 3 next weekend.
  7. Could that have to do with my truck still kind of learning after all of the "write entires" I've done with the PCM lately? It shouldn't be in the tune as I have reloaded my previous tune in and that's what I was running at the time.

  9. Yesterday, in the fourth round of my race, I stalled up the converter preparing to launch and when I launched, I felt the truck kind of slip forward then take off really slow. As I went down track, I noticed that the truck wasn't shifting so I lifted just before the 1000' foot cone and coasted the rest of the way. In doing that, I still crossed the finish line at 73 mph and 15.26 seconds (I normally run 14.0's). I drove back to my pit thinking I had broken something. No code was thrown. After letting it sit for a while, I went to put it on the trailer and I took a little drive and everything shifted just fine. I even stalled it up and did a full throttle launch and it shifted into second fine. In thinking about after the fact, the best way to describe what it felt like was a motorcycle leaving a stop in the wrong gear. I think I may have left the starting line in third gear rather than first somehow which explains my speed and ET despite not shifting. Some background...I recently re-wrote my PCM several times trying out different tunes and operatiing systems. During this race, I felt at times that truck was kind of re-learning itself. A similar shifting issue happened once before about three years ago but a code was thrown for shift solenoid B. I had the code cleared and the person that cleared it said nothing was wrong and that modified transmissins do this often. My trans currently has a PI 3200 stall converter, Transgo shift kit, and billet servos. Any help or ideas would be appreciated! TIA...
  10. The Super Chevy Show is returning to Fontana's Auto Club Dragway in two weeks. For those that have never been, it is a great show and drag race that is not to be missed for Chevy fans. There are four racing classes and several show classes open to any type of Chevy powered or bodied car. The drag race is open to all GM products as well so all you GTO folks, come on out!   12. Anyone interested in trading some light 20's or some 18's for my wheels and tires? My wheels are American Racing RTS series and the are in great shape. I am just looking for a straight across trade and someone will be getting and outstanding wheel for a great deal. I only race the truck now and the heavy 22's are pretty much useless to me now.
  13. I break the rules and drive around the house at WOT all the time! I can compare tunes just fine too. Reynaldo, I'd let you download my copy but you have to have the interface connector chinga derra too so downloading it won't do much good. I took some test drives out at the track today in the parking lot. Everything is fine I think. Timing at WOT was 29.5 and AFR was between 12.5 and 13.0. We'll see how I do on some actual full passes tomorrow. Thanks for the help guys!
  14. Thanks Reynaldo. yep, everything is running fine. I just got my own HP Tuners so I have just been playing with it, that's all. I did some smoothing and turned some things off and such, loaded the tune and went out for a drive. I hit the gas about one quarter throttle and the rpm's surge and then I have no pedal. The truck is still running but I have no accelerator. Not sure what happened with that so I turn it off and re-load my old tune and everything works fine. Any ideas on what I may have mistakenly changed to cause something like that to happen? BTW, I am running unleaded gas only now. Unleaded racing gas.

  17. Well, I don't have the means or the time to track down an AWD dyno. It runs fine and consistent the way I have so I am leaving it. I am willing to turn down the timing a bit but I can't figure out which cells to change on HP Tuners. Any help?
  18. I'm sure you are right about the octane but I get unleaded racing gas for free and I know for a fact that it pings with 91 so I am going to keep using it. I will look into the timeing tonight.
  19. I currently run my truck in Open Loop Speed Density at all times and I race my truck only. I run with unleaded racing gas exclusively. In my tune, I run the timing in the 30's at WOT. I have no knock retard, I can't hear any knock, and my plugs show no signs of detonation. I have some people on the HP Tuners board telling me that my timing is way to high and that I should turn it down. Can someone shed some light on this for me? TIA...
