  1. Gentlemen, To each his own, when it comes to taste. My truck came with chrome rims. I prefer black or something darker. So, is anyone SELLING some painted or powdercoated black rims of any kind, stock or aftermarket, OR looking to trade to chrome rims from said dark wheels? The wheels for trade are below. Thanks,
  2. OK so today I feel like my GM is a Toyota. The stupidity and poor design, in the aire of safety of course, to put a secondary latch system on a spare tire, is just the most asinine thing I've ever heard. So I'm trying to put my spare on the truck and spent 2 hours trying to get the spare tire off the truck, IN MY SHOP, to no avail!!!!! GM, YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME!!!! If I was on the side of the highway with my boat on the back, I'd have unhitched the boat, moved it to a safe location, and then torched the truck to the ground! OK not really, but I'm just beside myself that GM would do such a dumb move and install a safety feature which would hinder you in an emergency situation. So then...I've read the manual cover to cover concerning how to lower the spare in this situation. It's not working. I click the winch and lower it 3-4 times and nothing. I jack the spare up like they say and lower it, and nothing. And now I hear from my father in law to be, who's a GM dealer, that on some of the newer GM's, that the secondary latch has to be replaced if it doesn't lower. This tire has never been used! Come on! So the dealer wants an hour time, plus parts to do the job. I'm taking a torch to it. So has anyone had the same problem? I tried to call some of my buddies who drive a hook, but they usually just tow it if they have to fight too hard. I used to do the same thing when I towed, so I don't blame them. Thanks,
  3. Well, with the spindle chat in mind, I took some pics! So what do we think? Drop spindles or not?
  4. It feels like it has some travel, because if I hit some dips at a slow speed, like NYC driving, it really dips and rebounds well with good dampening, but then on just regular bumps and such, it's bangs and slams! It's simply overwhelming stiffness. I'm going to check out all of the bumpstops and snap some pics. I wonder too if I can see the spindle, or even feel for drop spindles with the wheels turned to full lock? I don't see why not. Regardless, it's needs pads and I'll surface the rotors while doing the job, so they'll be off the truck. Now to find time to tackle that! Thanks for the info, fellas. -Matt
  5. Hah, I knew you didn't, but got the jist. And I'll definitely check the shackles and spindles to see what I got. I'm searching for the rubber bump stop mod next. Also, what shocks come standard? Are they firmer than a regular Silverado? I'm contemplating road tripping this truck across country and MUST soften out the ride before attempting this. Thanks!, Matt
  6. Front leafs? You mean rear, correct? And I'll look for the bolts in the rear. Thanks for that identifier! And wow, you think it's spindles just from looking at the stance? Well ok, so are they stamped with McGaughy's anywhere? And if so, how can I soften the ride, just shocks? Did Chevy use Decarbon stock for the SS trucks, or were they defunkt by 2004? Thanks! -m
  7. Gentlemen, I bought my SSS used from a guy who did a little to it. It had some headers, taylor wires, and some engine goodies, along with an aluminum drive shaft, aftermarket wheels, stripes, and grills. I don't know if he lowered the truck but it rides hard, but good? The dampening is good and the steering is smooth with no bump steer, but it's an almost uncomfortable ride! It throws you around and in particularly bad roads, it bumps so hard that it's hard not to hit the gas sensitive gas pedal, causing the truck to buck! I just want to calm it down. I've searched all over this forum for stock ride height, but get threads that just end. The tires are stock size on my truck, but Cooper's. Can you tell by looking at wheel well gap? I wouldn't be suprised if the previous owner cranked down the keys but then I still need to look at the rear to see if anything was done. Any suggestions? Thanks, Matt 04 Silverado SS 95 Impala SS 93 Bonnie "Snow Commander" beater!
  8. Hah! I was gonna buy those but the time just wasn't right! I was going to coat them black. Looks friggin amazing dude, and way to have some style! You beat me to it! Are you local? Got a good powdercoater? -Matt
  9. I'm kinda torn on the 20" or 22" thing too. See, now I've been looking at those ARs and from the pics I like the 20"! That much tire looks good and allows the truck to go off road if it needs to. I'm all about the street performance, but for the love of God, it's still a truck. If I want to take it on a dirt or gravel road, I'm gonna. Not to mention snow in the winter. Looks hot dude! Sell em to me cheap and get the 22's! LOL -matt
  10. OMG THAT IS O HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOT! sorry...just lost it for a sec there. I'm in the big rim debate right now. I've decided to stick with 20's because I like having that much tire. I'm leaning toward the AR RTS wheels, the 5 star in black, but they're discontinued from what I'm finding. Gorgeous wheels, but? My truck came with some chrome 20's, which are OK, but not my style. The RWL cooper tires just worsen the deal too, so rims I need. I've always loved Weld Evo and SO want a black rim! I have an arrival blue 04 SSS with white racing stripes. Again, it came as you see it, so I'm trying to work with this. The stripes set it off, though I wouldn't have done them in white. Shit, now I want the EVO's? The first wheel is something I'm considering. They're cheap and similar to the RTS. Some others are attached. My truck is also attached. -Matt
  11. Fellas, I bought my truck used and the previous owner put some chrome 20's on the truck. They're passable, but not my style. I'm looking for some stock SSS rims. If someone has them in black, I'd be VERY interested! Let me know. Not looking to spend a lot and if you want some chrome rims, I'll trade ya? Located in northern NJ. Thanks, Matt 04 Arrival Blue SSS 95 DCM Impala SS
  12. Hey, I'm interested in the wheels. Where are you located, and would you ship? PM me, or email. Thanks, Matt
  13. Fellas, Sorry I was a no show. I finally was able to sell my tahoe and had to stick around to meet the buyer. Got the truck all set to go and I was kinda sad when it drove away....until I got into my SSS! lol Looking forward to the next gathering. Thanks, Matt
  14. Thanks man, and yes that's my next move. I've had a few interested lookers, so we'll see what happens in the next week. Thanks again. -Matt
  15. Just did the intake manifold gaskets. The leak was minimal but I didn't feel comfortable selling it in that condition. This is a common problem with the vortec engines. The job cost me $450 and it's just another big item I've replaced on this truck. The savings passes on to you. Give me a call. -Matt 201-376-6269
  16. And Cheap! Buy it! It's been a good truck for everything. It's so nice to have avehicle that you can get dirty or snowy and not care in the slightest! Thanks man! -matt
  17. Yeah the 6.0 is not an attractve motor. It's really all about function. I just want to cover the wires and brackets on the intake manifold. I'm sure a metal one would lock heat in, so the plastic one I think is the best. RevolutionRaceworks, I'll send you a PM. Thanks! -matt
  18. Truck is still available. I just drove it after driving the SS for two weeks. What a different feel and the Tahoe actually has more leg room? Probably because of the extended cab. They want to save space. Make me an offer. Thanks, Matt 201-376-6269
  19. Guys, Been looking for an engine cover forever. Does anyone have one? Will a 4.8 or 5.3 cover fit the 6.0? Thanks, Matt
  20. Yep, the Z56 package was a 2wd performance package for pursuit. Speedo reads 130 and the brakes and stck Goodyear tires were setup to do those speeds. The 2wd really helps with the gas mileage in the highway too. With the snowtires, it's a great snow vehicle too. It's not a 4-wheeling machine, but certainly no problem as a trail truck. Make me an offer guys. Thanks, -Matt 201-376-6269
  21. I've now put all the pics at the webshots link. http://rides.webshots.com/photo/2819296920...Lbt?vhost=rides Great truck for workin if your SS is for show. It's why I owned it. Thanks, Matt Yembo 201-376-6269
  22. Guys, I'll see you thee but I'll be there with my Impala SS club, GNISSC. Look for the big line of 75 b-bodies. Many hotels have a 2 night minimum except for Super 8 usually. They crank the prices up for this weekend. I'll be stoppin by the Silverado SS's for sure! Seeya, Matt 04 blue SS
  23. Guys, I wouldn't mind checkin this out if you'd have a newbie come and join. I just got my SS, so I'm just looking for ideas and to chat about the truck. Let me know if this is for sure. Thanks, Matt Hjembo 04 Arrival Blue SS
  24. Interior pics here: http://rides.webshots.com/photo/2819296920...Lbt?vhost=rides Thanks, Matt 201-376-6269
  25. Sure! My tahoe pics are all over the wanted section, and I'm trying to sell it, but the Impala has ben my baby since 2000. Two SS's in my garage...could I be more lucky? Now it's time to Mod the Silverado! Thanks, Matt Hjembo NJ Beasst (Big East Super Sport Team) 1995 DCM Impala SS 2004 Silverado SS
