  1. update So i cleaned the whole underside of my truck and found no damaged lines and the leaking has stopped, the truck was driving fine and shifting normally for the last week until today. I ordered a retune from Lyndon that was better suited for towing and TCC lock up and put the computer in this morning, while driving down the highway i got the famous P0894 code. There was also the occasional hard shift, thought maybe it was just the computer relearning the transmission shift habits? Any ideas, i'm thinking the new tune and the trans are not agreeing with each other or the TCC is toast, what is your guys thoughts? Matt
  2. what were the part numbers, mines all chipped and needs replacing? it looks sharp Matt
  3. Hey guys i looked up the converter and this is what it said about it online (The TCS S Series stalls range from 1800 to 2200. These Performance Converters are fantastic for Street Rods & mild Street Strip applications. Converter includes a Billet Input Spline, Brazed Fins and Torrington Bearings). As far as i know it came from Lake Havasu Mr. P. As for the choice of the converter it was outta my hands, he assured me that this was THEE converter to have. The fluid does not smell burnt and is still a nice red color. I also checked my records, it will be 6 months and 6200 miles on April 2nd since the install. If i had to guess i would say that it got warm and then started to leak, but cant be totally sure. Im gonna crawl under her tomorrow and pray that I find a split cooler line but i'm not holding my breath. As for being harsh on me, don't worry about it. I need all the critisism and knowledge i can get cuz this is the first truck i have built up. This is a great site and welcome all your insite, especially if it is cost effective as the new job is hurting the toy budget.. Matt
  4. I was just doing some research with mitchell online and it looks like my temps stayed within a range to prevent failure. I think i just have to solve the leak problem and add a cooler and i should be fine.(fingers crossed) The reason for all the heat created was due to the converter not locking up over 60mph. How can i ensure lock up while cruising at 65-70mph, change the converter or with computer programming? Oh and the Trans guy that built it is away from his shop till the 14th of April so i'm on my own Matt
  5. i knew i was gonna catch flack for the huge bill, i took it to the dealership to source the problem, they saw that the 3rd and 4th clutch bands were burnt and wanted 3 grand for a replacement GM tranny. I decided to have it built cuz i knew the stocker wouldnt hold up to the radix very long. so i had this guy build it and he charged me 3300 hundred and then the GM bill came to 1600 for the removal and install. So yeah i got screwed but i was caught with my pants down. Everything here in canada is near double too. Shop rate here is 120 an hour for crying out loud. Do you think that it generated so much heat because the lock up was not engaging? And is it possible to drop the tranny out with just jack stands in my garage cuz i'm pretty sure this guy isnt going to warranty it due to my mods? thanx for the replies Matt
  6. Hey guys, i don't know a whole lot about Tranny's so i'm looking for some help. I just had my tranny rebuilt five months ago to the tune of 5 grand by a local trans guru. it has a TCS converter that stalls 1800-2200, a shift kit, billet servos and a few other goodies i cant remember. I was towing my new travel trailer home that weighs about 5000 pounds when i noticed that i had ATF being sprayed all over the under side of my truck and the front of my trailer. I kept topping up the fluid to nurse it home(the lowest it got was 1 litre), it was leaking in between the housing and the engine block so i'm guessing a seal near the TC went? while climbing slight grades the trans temp got as high as 240 which is 40 over the recomended operating temp... Where should i start to fix this problem. i'm guessing I'll have to drop the trans again to source the leak and i'll be ordering a Tru-cool cooler tomorrow. will i be able to get decent temps with that setup or will i have to swap out that TC for something with less of a stall and take a hit on the performance driving without the trailer? please tell me i didn"t cook my new trans....haven't even paid for it yet Matt
  7. I have not been on here in a while, but what happened to all the pages in this forum? There used to be alot more than 2? I was looking for a previous topic but it seems to be gone? Any insight? Matt
  8. I'll give you $80.00 shipped. 454Matt
  9. aahh maybe yours didnt come with them. They are black rubber inserts that slip in to the all the cubby holes on the center console . i believe there is 6 in total. if you look there is holes in the two cubby's below the enviromental controls that the rubber inserts plug into.... either way no big deal. I'm more interested in the brake ducts, how much for the one and do you think the cracked one can be repaired? 454Matt
  10. How many miles on it... I'm interested in the brake ducts on the front bumper and maybe the front diff if i can find an affordable way to ship it..Oh as well as all the rubber inserts in the center console as mine were ripped off Thanx Matt
  11. come on guys someone has to be running helper bags with that tire size?
  12. No i don't believe that will work because it is a selectable 4WD, the SS is non-selectable(hence AWD).
  13. Thanx Mr. P. I'm gonna start calling the wrecking yards around me to try and locate one of these updated Diff's as mine is getting pretty bad. So i'm looking for one out of an 04 -07 Chevrolet/GMC right? Can it be either 1500 or 2500 and does it have to be from an AWD vehicle or would a 4X4 work as well? I'm guessing not, because i believe ours is an 8.25" F4WD diff as opposed to a 8.25/9.25 S4WD? So that would mean that the replacement diff would have to come from a SS or C3 ........right? 454Matt
  14. When you guys install your D3's do you retain the steering wheel controls, like the volume control? Yes i am that lazy...
  15. Hey Mr. P i'm interested as well as mine is getting worse everyday. I was thinking about dropping it, splitting it and reaplacing all the parts myself, but if i could find an improved design to drop in that would most likely be cheaper and easier.... 454Matt
  16. Just like it says, i'm looking at putting a set of helper bags on the rear of my SS. It is lowered 3.5 inches and i'm running a 305/40/R22 Tire. I was looking at the Belltech PN 5097, is this the correct number and is anyone running this model? Or my backup was the firestone bag. Is there any rubbing issues expected? Thanx 454Matt
  17. Yeah, mines kinda hard to explain. When i'm holding my speed steady at about 60 mph i can hear a whirring noise coming from under the truck, but i can't tell where. I am pretty sure its not the Transmission since it was completely rebuilt a 1000 miles ago, so that leaves the transfer case or the front diff. i checked all the U-joints and they were fine. It does have a pretty good leak and about 70 000 miles on it, so its probably due for a rebuild, just have to come up with another wad of dough. I think i'm going to atempt the rebuild myself.
  18. The engine just lost power and we coasted to a stop, through about 60 miles an hour is when we noticed the smoke. I've never heard of Indy but i will look it up..thanx I should find out later today weather or not i can save the heads and have them milled.
  19. Well i finally got the heads pulled off last night and threw a straight edge on them and found out that they were shaped like horse shoes...No big deal, called today to order some new heads, apparently there is none available. Anybody know where i can get a set of stock heads or a built up set for a reasonable price? 454Matt
  20. I'm interested in the Ducts if you still have them.....how much? 454Matt
  21. The temp guage was the first thing i looked at, and it was well with in the normal range. There is three modules/sensors that detect inconsistencies and then trip certain DTC's, however i have no codes to go off, so its proving difficult to source which one is bad if any of them... There is also an ASD relay (auto shut down) that needs to be considered... looks like i'm going to have to haul it to a different shop and see if they can diagnose the problem(s). Oh and get this, i just found out from a former employee that the shop i took it too the first time robbed the engine Oil cap off my engine for another customer while it sat in their yard... greasy cocksuckers nothing like kicking a guy when he's already down.... 454Matt
  22. What are some of the symptoms of the front diff going? I have a weird drive line noise coming from my truck, it happens right in between acceleration and deacceleration at about 60-80 mph. I checked U-joints and the trans was just replaced. everything else is stock underneath with 132 000 km on the Odo. 454Matt
  23. I wish it where that easy, however the front half of the engine and cooling system have already been removed, so I need to figure out wether i should continue to tear apart or put back together? hhhmmmm
  24. Hey guys i realize this is not a Silverado issue but you have always given me good advice on my SS. I was driving a 2006 SRT8 Grand Cherokee on the track at about 220 km/h when all of a sudden it lost power, died and coasted to a stop, with a white cloud of smoke and moisture behind me. The plugs are clean, the oil clean and whats left of the coolant is clean as well. The engine turns over by hand no problem ( almost too easy, not sure). Upon tear down i noticed that one of the coolant hoses that goes through the firewall for the heater core had blown off... Im guessing that is where all my coolant went and the cloud of white smoke was caused by it hitting the super hot manifold. Is there a low coolant sensor that cuts the ignition and prevents the vehicle from running? Do you think i caused any internal damage to the engine. The Jeep is bone stock with 8000 miles on it and no warranty cause it was exported from the US to canada. 454Matt
