  1. Hey , don't you get that "pipeline" money in Alaska? Not to mention no sales tax? On a different note, every time the local news here (Cincinnati) shows the gas prices in Cali, the local staions jack the prices. Gas went up 30 cents one day (after the news) and back down 10 cents. Those bastards. Dave
  2. On the subject of trans fluid...I always used Type-F trans fluid in my THM400 and THM350's that I ran in the Chevelle(s). I was told that it had some other kind of friction modifier in it, and I can tell you it definately shifted firmer with Type-F. What's the deal with it? Anybody know? Later Dave
  3. Does anyone have the part number for the seperator plate between the valve body and trans for a 2003 SS? I have 60K on the truck and I figured I'd pick one up before I install my Zippy kit. Thanks. Dave
  4. You need to get with smilin Bob about that 9mm deal there At least you had a better experience than I did...You gotta hate that instant on. Dave
  5. Ok, I am all cooled off now. I guess I was just really pissed...It was a really long day. The cop actually explained to me how to remove the tint since I told him I had it done(haha) I can install a supercharger but I can't figure out how to peel tint off...I played dumb which wasn't too hard for me. The tint place (which was in Kansas) actually told me it was legal, but oh well. $74 is not too bad...like you guys said it's just a "cool tax" kinda like the sin tax you pay on beer and smokes. I guess the best idea is to roll my windows down if I see a cop on the horizon. Later Dave
  6. You guys are right, how could I be so selfish. I will turn myself in at the station tomorrow. I sure will miss the wife and kids. The cops never harass anyone and they only care about my safety. Oh I forgot to tell you the story about the city cop who was told to stop writing so many tickets because no one would deliver concrete in the city limits because he wrote so many truck drivers for the tiniest infraction. You can ALWAYS find a reason to pull someone over, and justify it by saying "for the officer's safety" or "He matched the description of". I stumbled upon a law enforcement forum, and it was interesting. Don't think these guys don't get off by hassling us...especially the rookies
  7. I have paid for my fun. My point is I don't like being harrassed, which is what I consider this to be. The way the cop acted towards me makes him a douche weasel. I started out with no attitude what so ever, but I do not like being talked down to by someone my own age. You get what you give. I remember a lot of people around here feeling harrassed for minor things. I guess my real point is that they seem to take the easy way. If I was in downtown Cincinnati I could run naked down the street with my hair on fire as long as I didn't shoot anyone, while in Podunk window tint is the crime of the century. What made me even madder is that while flagging show cars in I saw 10+ cars with 20% or more tint. Also as a side note, the local police were at the show. I wish I had my camera...The chief of West Union, Ohio police department has a mullet aka West Virginia Waterfall. I about fell over. He was a nice guy though. It's the State cops that have always given me a problem. Dave
  8. Being nice makes it too easy...I don't like to feel like I'm taking one up the ole poop chute and not speak my mindespecially when I know I'm getting a ticket. I'm definately not driving 120 miles round trip to fight a $74 ticket, just frustrating. I don't hate all cops but I was told by a couple of club members of at least 2 other people they saw pulled over. I have driving tricked out cars (big block Chevelles, Camaros, etc) since I was 16, and I'm used to the speeding, reckless op, drag racing, seat belt tickets. I have kept my nose clean for 4 or 5 years till recently. I just hate being nailed on what I consider total BS. Dave
  9. I wanna be shot and killed by a jealous husband at the age of 95
  10. Man, I can't win. I was on my way this morning (Sun) to help my Chevelle club run a charity car show. It was way out in the country, about 60 miles from my house. It was about 9:00am and I came to a 4 way stop behind another truck. I see a Ohio State Patrol sitting there watching the stop sign. I figure no sweat I haven't done anything so off I go. He pulls out behind me, then follows for about a mile then flips the lights on. I pull over, when he comes up I ask him why he pulled me over....guess what? Illegal tint. I have 35% tint on the sides that's all. He pulls his tint-o-meter out and says I actually have 26%. Whatever...he tells me to go to the place where I had it tinted and have them take it off, yeah right. I have been pulled over another time for speeding and the cop didn't say a word. As a matter of fact a guy in my car club who is a cop told me he thought it looked legal. I guess it's a lot easier to write a $74 tint ticket than to go catch criminals, or people driving like nazis that actually cause a problem. That damn ticket ruined my whole day...if the police in these small towns need to be more concerned with busting the meth labs and catching thieves like the ones who robbed my parents. I was told the area where I live and surrounding counties are the meth producing capitals of the country...oh yay. Just venting rant over. Dave
  11. I love OPS (Other People's Shit). I especially love putting a $70000 car in it's place. Dave
  12. They talk about the high gas prices on our local news (Cincinnati) and how we are lucky not to have to pay what you all do. It is almost an unfair comparison because our wage scale and cost of living isn't the same as yours. That is almost as bad as when those jackasses compare the price of a gallon of bottled water to a gallon of gas...if gas came out of the tap in my kitchen sink then you can compare the two. Otherwise Shut the F up. Dave
  13. Congrats on the purchase...I have a 70 SS396 4 speed, only now it has a 11 to 1 454 with LS-6 heads and intake. I would run the factory 7 blade clutch fan. It funs a ton of air, has a thermostatic clutch, and I read a CHP or Hot Rod article that had dyno results to prove that clutch fans rob less HP than a flex or fixed fan. I am running an aluminum water pump with a oversized impeller and the factory 4 core radiator. Big blocks do have a tendancy to run a little warm. If you have heat problem you can always cut the center out of your thermostat. Another wise investment with a 4 speed a-body is a set of Edelbrock upper control arms and a pair of lift bars. They raise the mounting point of the upper control arms for better traction and they virtually eliminate wheel hop. Combine those with a set of factory or boxed lower arms and you're set. Later Dave
  14. I thought every time you masturbated God killed a kitten? Shouldn't he just be a skeleton?
  15. I wonder if they will be taking the day off from collecting government benefits, using our facilities, and the US education of their children. I also agree with the fact that the Constitution only protects US Citizens. We are definately too soft, on a lot of issues. This is the tip of the iceberg. Dave
  16. What is it gonna prove if they stay home? Yet another group of people wanting special not equal treatment. I have nothing against those who want to work and earn an honest living, but come on. What would they think if every law enforcement agency in the country actually cracked down on illegals and deported them all...no excuses, no questions asked. If we actually policed all of our borders and kept them out in the first place. As I see it you have to be careful what you ask for, because you might get it and you may not like how it turns out. Dave
  17. To reset the SES light you can go to Autozone and have them use their scanner to read the code and turn off the light, best part it's free. Most of the chain type auto parts stores offer this service...Advance, O'reilly,Autozone. If you have a handheld programmer you can do it with that. Dave
  18. Did you check your fuses? Both underhood and on the side of the dash. Maybe when you hooked the battery up something was on and arced and blew a fuse or something? You almost have to test them with a test light, sometimes it's hard to tell if they are blown. Dave
  19. zippy has told us a bunch of time how important the tune is with the 4L65 trans and it can make or break your truck. I would at talk to him since you are mid west and are close enough to get a great inperson tune. did you get a TB TC with braized fins??? When I got my TBTC I was soo happy...the slop was gone from my gas pedal. you will get out of the hole so much faster!!! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I did get a TBTC with brazed fins. I was told to block the converter valve, as it would up the apply/hold pressure to the lock up clutch in the TC. I love the new converter...damn it launches hard now. I do still need to do something with the tune or the Converter valve. I know sonnax makes a fix, but you have to remove the valve body and ream and sleeve that hole to install it. I'm gonna do a little more research. Dave
  20. It looks like you can buy all the pieces seperately...supply your own trans, maybe some HD driveshafts and maybe it could be done for $2500 or so? Dave
  21. It's not in the lower corner of the windshield? I believe the vin is stamped behind the heater box, and on the pass rear outer side of the frame behind the tire. I would contact the local police/inspection station for rebuilt salvage vehicles they should be able to tell you where to look. Also the VIN may not be completein those other 2 spots, but the last digits. You can figure out most of the rest of it ie 1=Chevrolet XXXX=body type (this is 3637 for a V-8 Chevelle) next is the plant , then I think is the last 8 or 10 digits which are the serial #. I'm doing this off of memory. The dealer may also be able to help you decode. Good luck Dave Another thing if the car isn't disassembled is to look under the carpet and on the bottoms of the seats, behind door panels, and under the headliner for a build sheet, this will tell you also.
  22. My trans guy asked me if it was possible to turn up the duty cycle of the valve that meters trans pressure to lock up the converter...I hope I'm asking this correctly. I guess I can get Brian to do this for me on an update. The reason I'm asking this is because I cooked my converter clutch, and I was reading the cons about blocking off the converter valve. As I understand it, increasing this duty cycle will provide a stronger connection when locked up, and keep from burning the converter clutches. I gotta get this thing fixed, I'm sick of driving in tow/haul. Dave
  23. This is a long video that shows the parts, and how it's put together. It also shows him driving on the street and making something like a 8.61 pass at the dragstrip. Good God is this thing fast...you won't hardly believe how hard it leaves. Dave Jesus this thing is fast! PS. The racing starts at 5:45 on the movie
