I don't think the doors use the coding. They key should still be able to open the door, just might not work in the ignition.

You can have the starter tested for free at a local auto parts store... I think it's only 2 bolts holding it in and then disconnect the wiring... Might save you some money....

I'd say going with a new head unit is the way to go... Get a head unit that will control your ipod. I have an Alpine (single DIN) and I ran the iPod cable from the back of the HU to the glove box. It plugs into the bottom of my iPod and I can control the iPod with the HU and the iPod stays in the glove box. Works out well, especially since I kept the steering wheel controls too!

I don't really like the turn signals... Just my opinon though.

Did you ever have the battery and/or the started checked? They check them for free at Kragen. Have you found out anything since you started having this problem?
