I have a 06 SS Silverado with a a/c question. Can anyone tell me if I can charge thru one of the ports with caps on them instead of going into the accumulator? That one on the accumulator looks like it has one port on it and it is being used with a low pressure cut off switch. If you take off that switch, is that a schrader valve on there or is it just an open port after removal? One of the ports on the line with the caps on it gets cold closer to accumulator low side? Small line in diameter. The other is probably high side after the orifice tube and is hot. Can i charge into the one that gets cold(low pressure), instead of removing the switch on the accumulator? One thing I've noticed with my 06 SS, it never changes in the reading. 14.4 mpg. All the time. Doesn't matter how it's driven... racing a vett or driving 40mph down the street or highway miles. Anybody notice this? Nothing's been changed on this truck. It did go from 14.3 to 14.4 and that's the only change on the average fuel economy. The only thing I can think of is the computer is off, or that what I get for mpg. I have never realized 19mpg at 55mph. Thanks njr

Thanks for the info. Any idea if they have to rip the dash apart to get at the actuators? They have never worked from day one. I bought the truck with 25 miles on it. Does somebody have to go thru the glove box or rip the bottom heater box out to get to them?

Any of you guys noticewith auto a/c that you don't get 100% recirculated air? Even with the recir button on? I can still smell, like people smoking and stuff... Never had that problem with manual a/c systems. I tried all different combinations auto on, auto off, recirc on etc... Maybe one of the blend doors is not closing?

If the US would put a 25 or 30% import tax on these cars and trucks being sold over here that would pretty much fix things. It doesn't matter that toyota and honda have assembly plants over here. TAX Them. Our stuff has an import tax over there. I think the tax coming into the us is like 2%. If we export, it is like 20 to 25%. They (Washington) are trying to F--k the Middle CLass. It is a race to the BOTTOM. Everyone needs to wake up, stop going to football games, nascar and every other event on the weekend, and get involved. Otherwise, what others have fought so hard for will be gone for a long time. Your kids, their kids etc. You guys don't want to see a depression!!!

How can Toyota open assembly plants and engine plants in the us, yet gm has to close theirs and open them up in mexico or china? And why doesn't gm put the amount of compensation that the board members of gm receive in the window sticker along with the health care cost of the hourly employee's?

We can Not compete with Communist China or Mexico. Can you live on 27¢ an hour? I can't. I don't think the board members at gm can either. The countries that we compete with are **** places to live. There is no reinvestment of infrastructure in their society, governments grab all the money. Look at the pollution in Communist China. Look at all the crap they sell us. It falls apart in a half an hour or less. Also they are poisioning us, and Mattel apologizes to the Chinese? So they can keep using that slave labor over there and Johnny can have a nice christmas with his lead based toy, or kerosene in some toy called flashing evil eye? Unions made the middle class in America. If we go into a depression like the late 20's, there will be a cry for unions, just like in the 1930's. I live in America and I want Americans to make our own stuff. I want to see Americans do well. The better I do, the better you do. That's the way money is passed along. Watch out for those Mexican truck drivers hauling that shit from china all over those U.S. highways that you & I pay for.

I was at a stop light and another guy pulled up next to me ( chevy silverado ), and he said my hood was open. I kind of freaked out, never noticed the gap on the passenger side. Sure as shit, it was raised up alittle bit, opened it up, turned down the stops, didn't help much. Gonna have the dealer body shop take a look at it. Maybe they can fix it? I have noticed it does shake alittle over 45....................

I know about the antenna's, It didn't have the one single antenna (fin) like they do now. Just trying to pinpoint the year. It does have the 03- front end..... just trying to give you an idea when the thing was made. Thank you for the answer

Did Chevy ever make an SS Chevy Avalanche? Saw one today at a Publix shopping center. It had 2 antennas up top, so it looked like an 03-05... It had SS on the sides. and the back. It had LT back behind the doors. I'm thinking he might of had them put on...Never saw one before. Looked like he had 20" factory wheels...................... Didn't see anything on the web that might confirm.

The new sound system setup in the 07's and later look kinda cheap looking. Has anyone listened to the new sound system they have put in the silverado's? I know alot of you guys change them out for something a little cleaner sounding with alittle more Punch. I know they still are puttting bose in there, but it looks kinda ....... Plus changing that factory system out, it looks tougher. Anyone know the wattage?
