  1. its not backpressure...its velocity, scalvenging of pulses and heat. ppl confuse simple saying of backpressure with the right theory.

larger pipes cool air and slow down the pulses, smaller pipes are hotter air and faster pulses but having to small of a pipe will cause the pulses to start to roll among themselves. to large of a pipe and the pulses create turbulance since they cant escape fast enough. ppl say they lost power, NO you didnt lose power you just moved your power up higher in a different part of powerband. ths is why you have to truely decide what your goals are for optimal exhaust.

I run a open 4" exhaust on my 4.8, my exhaust pipe is cool to touch after driving for an hour of normal driving. i beat on my truck and go touch it and its hot for a short time. the 4" allows my exhaust to cool faster. it works for me but doesnt mean it will work for you

  2. on the dyno on a bolt on ls1 i gained 1hp by removing 2* timing. i went from 30* to 28 and picked up 1hp.

we had this talk before your motor doesnt have enough compression to need the higher octane.

put it on dyno to see if youre helping your cause or hurting it

  3. 4" tailpip isnt a major factor. the pipes up to the muffler have more effect on the motor. the SS comes with duals from factory. ppl then toss on dual 2.5 or even dual 3" that right there is 5" to 6" of exhaust diameter, a 4" tailpipe is smaller diameter. Also alot of ppl exit the exhaust out the front of wheel, so if you install a 4" tailpipe that exits out behind the tire your doing basically the same as having it exit out the side but will actually be quieter using similar mufflers

  4. fact: the majority of engine wear occurs on cold start. so why run a thicker oil thats gonna take longer to reach moving parts? run what the manual calls for unless your wot through the mojave, imo. m1 5-30

very true but a good syn oil leaves parts with a thin film on them so they dont have issues upond a cold start

  5. you can have the WG a safe distance from the turbo but just remember that your controlling will be effected some. your reaction will be delayed some. my WG is in my crossover which is a few feet from the turbo. Does it work? yes Is it Ideal? No so yes you can relocated your WG away from the ground, its just going to be a little delayed and not as effecicent but it does work!!!!! Also the more flanges and gaskets you have more prone it is to leaks

  6. keep in mind there are more then one style of 255s. with this being the case there are variances between each 255 in size. also keep in mind some fuel systems are feeding with dual feeds and not just one -6. Good luck on this but remember when doing custom work you have to talior to the custom needs.

my setup has 2 -6 feeds coming out of it and 1 -6 return.

  7. Damn, and 1 of the reasons I took my badges off was b/c of this site. Oh well, its true, the SS namesake isnt really all that special anymore. I dont understand why people can "clone" Yenko's, and COPO's, and whatever else, and nothin gets said about that. Besides, "true" SSS or not, alot of clones out there can put a real hurting on an SSS anyday.

i can attest to that one. Hell clones of real cars sell for big money as well

  8. so if i upgrade to a turbo, upgrade the bolts and a dead on tune ill have 1000hp lq9???? :jester: ....... :nono: dont think so im compering both the lq9 and the lbz, stock for stock the lbz could handle more power period....sad to say put its the truth.pretty good for a isuzu motor i think

well there are afew bone stock LQ9s making huge numbers. 1 i recall is mid 8s on power. thats pretty impressive and isnt to far from the 1k you asked for. motors die cause of tunes. these motors are rock solid but fail cause of tunes and ppl making them leaner and not taking appriotate measures.

also mid 8s to wheels is almost 1k at flywheel

  9. there is so much useless things the manufactor puts on these vehicles for EPA shit isnt even funny. to much to make it complicated and so everyone can say to much stuff ill let dealer fix it. my truck is so basic its like a 75 chevy with a few extra wires.

dont need smog, dont need evap, dont need air, dont need cats, dont need egr. im sure im forgetting other shit. motors ran for years with no issues without this stuff. let epa in here and they ruin vehicles. and for some that say fumes. properly tune your vehicle and you wont have that.

  10. not worth it??????i seen does motors put down 1000 hp with twin turbos on stock internals and getting 20+mpg.i would trade that motor for my lq9 anyday, our lq9 with +10 psi boost has trouble keeping the rod in the block.........lbz on a sss would be sick

rods in block is cause of tune and 16 little bolts. upgrade the bolts and have dead on tune without having a Heat pump for a blower and youll make numbers you never thought would be possible.

just find yourself a nice solid turbo and be done with it instead of that turbo. now if you want to use a budget one use a Holset from cummins
