  1. Thanks for the info, I'll pass it on. For what it's worth, I saw a NBS Avalanche without the tailgate bowtie, 4 holes.
  2. Single cab, so I was thinking I was in deep trouble. He didn't pull as hard out of the hole as I thought he would. I'm not sure if those things have traction control, or if you have to be careful to keep them hooked up.
  3. 10 minutes ago I pulled off an upset even better than App. State vs. Michigan! I’m exiting 130 S. tollway and see a yellow dodge with a spoiler at the light in front of me, and since we were both turning left, I pulled in behind him hoping it was a bumbling bee. Right away noticed the offset pipes and the badging: SRT10. I'm thinking.....Oh Sh*t. Light turned green and as we made the left under the overpass, he hit it and so did I while moving over to the right lane and up to the next stoplight. Go time. I’ve run a few trucks from this same light….absolutely perfect. Slightly uphill, and about a 1/3 mile run until the lanes merge. On the right, nothing but field, on the left, the concrete embankment of the overpass (no hiding place for cops, and Hutto cops SUCK). We are both edging up and as the other light (not ours) turned yellow, I stalled to about 2K, hit the tailoring button (my nickname for it is ‘hauling’ ass mode) and nailed it when the light turned green. My tires might have turned over twice before hooking and hanging two feet behind him. Then I heard his engine gun but he fell back and I kept pulling as this guy fumbled his way through a shift. When he got it in gear he started charging up slower than I thought he would, but by then it was too late. I backed off and he came blowing by me way after the merge point, so I guess he can brag about ‘winning’, but when I gave him a thumbs up as I passed him at the next intersection, all he did was stare. What’s really going to mess with his head is that I pulled the VHO badging off my doors, so he thought I was just a plain-jane chevy. You can see my mods below, nothing special, this guy has a MUCH faster truck but in my book a win is still a win. I have to say, I’m VERY proud of my VHO. I used to beat Z-28’s with my 4-door Acura Integra GSR because I was a better driver, and this guy lost because he couldn’t make the shift. I’m f*ckin’ jacked right now!!!!
  4. Did you use a silver sharpie for the Vortec 6000 area? Also, did you just outline the 3 pieces with the black, or is that some kind of edging. Looks very good.
  5. I've been thinking about removing it alot lately. I do quite a bit of backroad driving and the bugs here in Texas are the size of pigeons, so I'm not even sure if it helps that much.
  6. After 3 hours of adhesive removal and another hour of washing, my VHO got to show off at sunrise today. Wish I would have caught the ass-clown that dinged my front fender well! The only warning a hemi is going to get is tucked above my rear-view mirror: Dirty carbon fiber emblem decal: Anybody know how to get the bottom airdam off??? I really want to paint it and the grill black.
  7. I still think it's like the rear emblem on my buddy's NBS Tahoe and held on with little nipples. He had the same problem with his fishing line. Two holes about 'O' that big. See my post above.

  9. Did I understand you correctly? You got the top (main) portion of your grill from the factory? Do you by any chance have part numbers????? Looks outstanding.
  10. I'm north of Austin. When I had dealers looking for the B4V option, they found a black GMC VHO on the showroom floor somewhere in Louisiana, leather, the works, but as this is a company truck, I didn't want to push my luck and took the chevy.
  11. I should have clarified. My buddy removed his bowtie emblem fromt the BACK of his NBS tahoe. I'm not sure if it's the same on the p/u trucks, but his DID leave two holes. I mentioned the overlay emblem (on my truck) as an alternative.
  12. Sorry, the holes didn't stay put. They are about that far apart vertically, but 3 inches or so apart horizontally. So if you were looking at a 3" clock, the holes would be at 10 and 4.
  13. CAREFUL!!!! My buddy took his off his '07 Tahoe, and it WAS attached by more than just adhesive. He has two little holes that are offset that would have to be filled or covered by something else. He and I are both Longhorn fans, and the little chrome longhorn emblems won't cover the holes. On his the holes looked like this (see below) O O Check w/ a dealer first or look into covering your decal with something. I just did my front emblem with a carbon fiber stick on and it looks great. 8$ from webextremes.com <img src=http://i92.photobucket.com/albums/l17/chris_widmer/DSC01507sss.jpg>
  14. Don't want it LALALALOUD....I am 40 after all! I got the new Magnaflow installed this morning.....f'ing PERFECT. Just right. Dual dumped, deeper, I can actually hear it when I'm cruising down the road...I'm not kidding, the other one was way too quiet. Clips to come soon.
  15. I've had a Magnaflow 14588 for about a year now, and although I like the power increase I've gotten with it, I want something louder. On a 1-10 scale of loud/mean, I would give it a 3. Here's the clip: I just ordered a Magnaflow 14386 and should be receiving it today. I'm hoping that the shorter muffler will make it louder, and I'm excited to see how the built in x-pipe flows compared to the 2 into 1 of my current muffler. I'll post a clip of the new muffler as soon as it's installed. CW
  16. Got the PCMforless tune around Christmas. My mileage went from 16.4 to 16.7. I do 90% highway driving (70-90 mph) however
  17. Dumped mine two weeks ago. I have a Magnaflow dual 2 1/2 in x single 3 out. If anything, made it quieter. Picked up some resonance in the cab at idle, and low speeds under 40, but at highway speeds much quieter. It still makes a nice growl at WOT, but overall not very loud. I did quite a bit of research, and found that smaller mufflers will make the sound louder. The body of my magnaflow is 22". Don't know if this is real or my imagination, but the truck seems to breathe much better after dumping it. I do 90% highway driving, and when passing, either real hard, or just normal, the exhaust really seems to flow much better, and it feels quicker, more responsive.
  18. I've been thinking about dumping my exhaust. I have a magnaflow dual 2 1/2 (in) x single 3" (out). The guy who installed it didn't have 3" pipe for the exhaust, so he rigged it w/ 2 1/2 pipe to my 3" Gibson tip. Would I get better performance (back pressure wise) if it was the true 2- 2 1/2 into single 3" like I wanted in the first place, or should I keep it the way it is. I'm not really sure how back pressure works, a reader's digest explanation would be cool. Right now it sounds good, kinda milder than I'd like, but every once in a while, when I pull next to someone who's dumped, it sounds F'n tough. Any help greatly appreciated. CW

  20. I'm north of Austin, in the Round Rock area. I got it inspected in Hutto, just east of Round Rock. I've heard that Texas is going to require that you get the vehicle inspected in the county that it's registered in, but so far that is rumor only. Luckily 95% of my driving is on country roads, so the wear and tear factor is greatly lower on my ride than the days I used to live in Houston (TONS of stop and go) although I do like the unlimited speeds in H-town.
  21. Got my truck inspected this morning, and was a little concerned. I had heard that the 160 stat would show up 'invalid' on the computer scan. I had a buddy do the inspection, and he hooked up all the crap that Texas now requires for inspections. I told him about the PCM, and he said as long as no 'service' lights were on everything would be ok. After the test, I asked if he fudged any, and he said no. So I guess the PCM, and stat passed the way they are. Just wanted to pass that along to other Texans. It used to be take it to an old barn, then watch them turn on your lights, honk your horn, and put on the sticker. CW
  22. I always try to park FAR away from other cars, but two weeks ago in a town full of little gangster types, at the far end on the parking lot, some ass clown dinged my PS front fender. Nice, clean trucks are dickhead magnets. What I would have given to catch that guy.....
  23. Came up on a burnt orange jeep cherokee with FAT tires, (one lane rural highway) and noticed SRT8 badges and the awesome center exhaust. I passed him pretty hard, and gave it an extra grumble as I went by. He stayed behind me for about 10 miles until we came to an extended hill with an additional passing lane. I stayed put in the fast lane, and as soon as I saw him make his move I nailed it. All I can say is WOW. He walked away pretty handily up the hill. We got to 110 or so, and he slowed back down to 70. When I got back to my office I googled it (having never seen one) and the numbers are pretty impressive. Supercharger just went on my 'want' list.
  24. Looking forward to seeing your numbers!
  25. Wednesday, entering an onramp to I-35 South behind a stock, (non STI/rally/GT, whatever) Subaru WRX. An 18 wheeler was in front of us and entered the merge lane at about 30 mph. Left and center lanes cleared, and as soon as I saw his bumper drop from acceleration, I punched mine. He had a jump, but I started pulling him in around 75, passed him at 90 and screamed to 120 in a big hurry. When I let off he pulled even he did a classic double take.....priceless! I can't say enough about that pcmforless tune.
