  1. After this post I tried figuring it out,

I drive 4 miles per day to and from work, so 20 miles a week, I decided to go fill it up after driving those 20 miles and it took 4.1 gallons of gas, crazy huh? That's what about 5 mpg if I'm not mistaken :driving:

that doesn't sound right. it is alot of stop and go? or are you pulling an aircraft carrier?

Yeah man it's terrible here, it takes me 20-25 mins. to get to work with all the stop and go, maybe I need to lose a few pounds also maybe that will help... :pop:

  2. Cold oil =  I do mine warm.

    Mr. P. :)

So I just changed it, I used Mobil 1 Synthetic 75W/90W diff. oil. My 06 was different from the "How To" I got under there and there was a drainplug and a fill plug. I drained it all and filled it up with about 3.5 quarts, drove it, rechecked it and it's perfect. I bought the gasket but didn't need it because I didn't have to remove the diff. housing. Overall it worked out great... Thanks for all your help Mr. P !!!

  3. Transmission - new filter, flush and refill

Rear axle - if the fluid was changed at 500-miles (break-in) then I would not change it until 40K-miles; if it has never been changed I would do so right away.

Also have the front steering/suspension lubed.

You might have the air cleaner element checked.

That's everything I can think of...

    Mr. P. :)

edit - have any recall work done too.

Mr. P, my 06 SS has 2700 niles on it and I haven't changed the diff. oil yet. The reason why is because the scheduled maintanence in the owner's manual does not state to change it because it's factory sealed and filled with synthetic fluid. Does the synthetic fluid really need to be changed within 500 miles? What dou you think ?, I really respect your opinion from reading all of your posts. What effects will I notice if I don't change it right away and how often should it be changed on a regular basis? Any help I'd really appreciate. Thanks Aaron...

  4. Well, I went with the Pirelli Scorpions and love them. I had the Goodyear LS's on my old truck and they wore out quick and had poor dry traction. I have the LS2's on my SS and am considering changing them to Scorpions. After I put the Scorpions on my old truck the ride was smoother, better handling and better dry traction. As far as wet traction it seems about the same. Now the way I saved some money was by going to see if tire shops will match the on-line price. I tried "Pep-Boys" and they matched the Tirerack.com price and did not charge me for shipping which saved me probably $125.00 I think the charge is. Of course I just picked up the tires and took them to a real tire shop to install because the Pep-Boys service dept. can mess up putting gas in your truck. Good luck to you...

  5. Unfortunately my 06 ss was stolen from outside my work this past Monday. I’ve been really bummed out, neither onstar or the cops have been able to find it. So far onstars customer service has been really shitty, I was promised a call every 3 hours with an update and so far I have only received a call to let me know that the extensive search for my vehicle will come to a stop after 48 hours. Saddest part was watching someone take off with my truck.

I'm sorry to hear man - rest assured "what goes around comes around" with that thief he'll get his. I hope you find it, my neighbors truck was stolen recently and it was recovered in the same condition so good luck to you, so where in Glendale do you work ?, I live and work in Sherman Oaks...

  6. I didn't want to hi-jack LBZRCKS post......and I really feel bad about his loss.

Has anyone installed Lo-jack on their truck?  This is the secind time I hear that Onstar is useless against someone who knows what they're doing.

Yeah I have it but not by my choice, when I bought my SS the dealer pre-installed it.

  7. Im tearing my hair out trying to decide on mufflers for the SS. My last truck had 2 Flowmaster 50 series Delta's on it and I was'nt real happy with them.

Does anyone here run the Flowmaster 50 series HD or SUV muffler? If so, what are your opinions on it and the noise factor inside and out. Better yet, a sound clip would be awesome !!! I've listened to the sounds page on Flowmaster, but I know the SS won't sound like that !!!

I have 50 series big block # 530513, it's a dual 3" inlet - single 3.5" outlet. I wouldn't go with the 524454 because the dual inlet is 2.25" on that one. The pipes are actually 2.75" coming from the headers going into a 3" dual entrance with one single 3.5" exit with 530513 by Flow. I have an 06 SS so I don't know if 03-05 is the same. Anyway, I love the sound - it's deep, aggressive and mean. There is some resonance in the cab, but not too much. It totally doesn't sound like the website sound clips either. Good luck...
