  1. I've heard of these, anyone know where you can get one? I would love to have a running 350 mini in my garage! Looks like this guy built a one off, so he's probably not gonna mass produce them. Anyone know where to get one?
  2. I own an 03 SSS and I was wondering if anyone has swapped the plastic centre console for the leather Denali console? Anyone know the part number and how much it costs? I'm hoping to find one on e-bay. Is it just a simple swap? If you have any pictures or any information, please let me know, Thanks, JR Cheers!
  3. I was looking through some old files and I came across this. I know it's probably a little early but I'll probably end up losing it again shortly, so better early then never right? CHRISTMAS PHYSICS There are approximately two billion children (persons under 18) in the world. However, since Santa does not visit children of Muslim, Hindu, Jewish or Buddhist (except maybe in Japan) religions, this reduces the workload for Christmas night to 15% of the total, or 378 million (according to the population reference bureau). At an average (census) rate of 3.5 children per household, that comes to 108 million homes, presuming there is at least one good child in each. Santa has about 31 hours of Christmas to work with, thanks to the different time zones and the rotation of the earth, assuming east to west (which seems logical). This works out to 967.7 visits per second. This is to say that for each Christian household with a good child, Santa has around 1/1000 th of a second to park the sleigh, hop out, jump down the chimney, fill the stocking, distribute the remaining presents under the tree, eat whatever snacks have been left for him, get back up the chimney, jump into the sleigh and get onto the next house. Assuming that each of these 108 million stops is evenly distributed around the earth (which, of course, we know to be false, but will accept for the purposes of our calculations), we are now talking about 0.78 miles per household; a total trip of 75.5 million miles, not counting bathroom stops or breaks. This means Santa's sleigh is moving at 650 miles per second -- > 3,000 times the speed of sound. For purposes of comparison, the fastest man made vehicle, the Ulysses space probe, moves at a poky 27.4 miles per second, and a conventional reindeer can run (at best) 15 miles per hour. The payload of the sleigh adds another interesting element. Assuming that each child gets nothing more than a medium sized LEGO set (two pounds), the sleigh is carrying over 500 thousands tons, not counting Santa himself. On land, a conventional reindeer can pull no more than 300 pounds. Even granting that the "flying" reindeer can pull 10 times the normal amount, the job can't be done with eight or even nine of them---Santa would need 360,000 of them. This increases the payload, not counting the weight of the sleigh, another 54,000 tons, or roughly seven times the weight of the Queen Elizabeth (the ship, not the monarch). 600,000 tons traveling at 650 miles per second creates enormous air resistance - this would heat up the reindeer in the same fashion as a spacecraft reentering the earth's atmosphere. The lead pair of reindeer would adsorb 14.3 quintillion joules of energy per second each. In short, they would burst into flames almost instantaneously, exposing the reindeer behind them and creating deafening sonic booms in their wake. The entire reindeer team would be vaporized within 4.26 thousandths of a second, or right about the time Santa reached the fifth house on his trip. Not that it matters, however, since Santa, as a result of accelerating from a dead stop to 650 m.p.s. in .001 seconds, would be subjected to acceleration forces of 17,000 g's. A 250 pound Santa (which seems > ludicrously slim) would be pinned to the back of the sleigh by 4,315,015 pounds of force, instantly crushing his bones and organs and reducing him to a quivering blob of pink goo. Therefore, if Santa did exist, he's dead now. Merry Christmas
  4. Hey, I was just looking at my 03SS and I got to thinking... Does anyone know the total production of the 2003 Silverado SS? Even if it's just a ballpark, how many did they make? I live in Canada, so I want total for Canada and US combined. I have a black SS, I know they are more common then red and blue, but I am still curious. I figure that they've cancelled the AWD option making it a limited production. So anyone have any numbers? Thanks guys, Cheers!
  5. Hey, I'm just wondering what you guys think of this... I'm putting the finishing touches on my 1967 Chevelle I restoring. I bought the Chevelle when I was 15 and it's taken me almost 7 years to get it where it is today. By the way, if I wanted to show the car how do I put in a picture? Anyways, I'm about to finish this car and I want to start another. I am a huge fan of Chevelles. I mean the Camaro is okay, but I consider that more of a sports car and I've never been a huge fan of the Nova. Anyways, I've found a line on a 454 block for 450 and I'm hoping to build a 1970 Chevelle SS. Well I thought I'd buy the block and I have a spare engine stand from my 67 and just have it sitting in my living room. Well about 20 minutes ago I found a 1970 Chevelle for sale, body's in good shape and it doesn't have a driveline. It has good floors and a good trunk floor too, the guys asking 4200 for the car, is this a good deal or not? Would you buy it? Let me know what you think, Cheers!
  6. hey, I was just wondering if Nascar's ever had opening doors. If they did, when was the last year Nascar had door cars? Thanks, JR Cheers!
  7. Hey, I was just kinda reading about peoples projects on the internet the other day and I came across this page about building a Syclone Clone. Anyways, I was just wondering if it would work. The site said that if you take a 4x4 S10, S15, or Sonoma 1993 or older that you can just switch the differential out of one of those early 90's GMC Safari's or Chevy Astro that is AWD. Is it really that simple? I realize that the Syclone had a turbocharged 4.3 but I was wondering to myself. So many guys drag race S10's it seems and they all have them tubbed out, I know that tubbing out a car or truck makes it a lot harder to drive on the street, so making an AWD race car would seem to make more sense. An S10 is very light even with AWD, I'd just drop a SBC in there and you'd have a killer for the street and strip. Mind you the Syclone bodykits are hard to come by but a clean black S10 would be sharp. Anyways, I'm really interested in doing this so I need to know if it really is this easy or is this guy just crazy? Has anyone here done it? Can you make it AWD, drop in a 350 and still keep it AWD? Any help would be appreciated. I found a 1992 S10 short box 4x4 for 800 bucks an a 1993 Safari AWD for 600, 1400 is cheap for a rocking truck! Lets hear what you gotta say Cheers!
  8. You're saying that a BB is stonger if you start with a two bolt and dill to make it a four bolt? Why is that better?
  9. Hey, Just to start, this big block isn't for my 03 Silverado SS. I am looking for a big block chevy engine for build up. I have a 383 in my 1967 Chevelle Malibu right now and althogh it's fairly quick (12.8 @104mph) I want to go faster. I'm not going to cut up my Chevelle and turn it into a drag car, it's just a street car that doesn't do too bad on the track. I'm thinking Chevette or maybe another muscle car (1967 Chevy II would be preferred). Anyways, point of this post is I was wondering if anyone out there has a big block engine sitting around in their garage in Ontario Canada that they would be willing to part with? I have a line on a 1973 454BB for under 500 bucks but it's a two bold main. I've done some research though and apparently you can drill the mains and turn it into a 4BB. Is this possible? Is it recommended? What would be the difference between this motor and a factory 4BB? I would like to supercharge this eventually so any advice would be appreciated. And if you have an engine you would like to deal, let me know. I would prefer a 454 or 427 but I'll take a 396 too. Also, what are the differences with those engines? Is it just a matter of bigger cubes so more power? I've heard that the 427 is a higher revving BB but that could be all talk. I've also heard that a 396 doesn't put out enough power for the weight it has. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Even if you don't have an engine any information you could give me about engines would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time, JR

  11. oh sorry, I just saw it wasn't a cowl, nevermind
  12. Would you be willing to send that cowl hood to Ontario Canada? If you would, I'd be interested
  13. Hey I just got Superchips new computer tune for my 2003 Silverado SS and I love it! It might not have quite as much kick as a PCM tune but my insurance company is saying they wont insure anyone who has any engine mods on the motor and with Superchips I can take it off anytime. Anyways, you can set your PSI pressure for your transmission, it goes by 2's from 0-20. I thought I'd play it safe and go with 14, but I was wondering how high you can put it without damaging the engine? I mean the kick is awesome, I'd like it at 20 but would that damage my tranny? What would be the best PSI performance wise? Any help would be appreciated, the last test and tune of the season is this Friday (tomorrow) night.
  14. If you pull some strings that would be great. I am surprised how many people are interested in a hood actually. Maybe they aren't as common as I thought? Anyways, it seems that there is lots of interest, how would we go about starting a group buy? Does anyone have any experience with that kind of thing? Lets get this rolling guys, Any help is needed and wanted! JR
  15. Hey I have seen enough Silverado's on this forum now that I have decided I need a cowl hood now too. I mean I don't want to be left out right? So I was wondering where you are getting them from? Who are the suppliers? I'm kinda new on here, but I've heard about people on here going together and getting a group purchase. How would I go about setting one of those up? How much are cowl hoods (I know paint is on top of that) but how much do they go for? Who would be interested in getting a cowl hood if I did manage to set up a group buy? Thanks for all your help guys! Enjoy your trucks!!! JR Cheers!
  16. Hey, I was washing my SS the other day (my first wash of my new (but preowned) SS) and I noticed that my rear bumper was cracked on both sides where the license plate goes. I know my SS used to be a farm truck (I have no idea why anyone would use an SS for that...) but it's in really good shape. This is the first thing I've noticed and the rest of the truck is in good shape. Anyways, I was wondering if anyone who has installed a rollpan had a bumper (preferably black) that they wanted to sell. I was also wondering if anyone knew the retail on a new one (I know it will need to be painted). Also, the centre console in my truck is missing that black rubber insert, I was wondering if anyone here had one or knew where I could get my hands on one? Hope someone's got something, JR
  17. I live in Kitchener-Waterloo Ontario Canada. I can travel to get around though right? I mean I do have a truck now and as long as you're easy on the throttle the truck isn't even too bad on gas. Thanks again for the advice
  18. Hey, I just bought a 2003 Black Silverado SS and I was wondering if you guys could help me out with at least a start on what to do with my truck. I put on a K&N stainless air intake but that was more for looks then anything. My brother has a superchips programmer and it helped a bit, but from the sounds of it there are much better tunes out there for the money. So my question is: Without switching internals, I don't want to void my warranty with a cam, heads, etc. I am more wondering what would be a good choice in a computer tune and what would be a good choice for exhaust. I don't want something really loud, and I've heard that 40Series hasn't been working out for very many SS's. Anyways, any advice you could give me would be greatly appreciated! I don't know enough about PCM tuning to confidently to it and I certainly don't want to practice on my new truck. So who could I go to or what could I use on my truck? Thanks for your help, and remember, any help would be appreciated so share your knowledge PLEASE!!! Thanks again, JR, Marsha, and Myrphi
