  1. Wow what brings you to good old Klamath Falls? Thats where I was born and raised. I just moved from there in November. Going frorm DC to Klamath Falls will be an interesting switch. Like I said before I am the only member on here from Oregon, well at lest members who actually post and are involved. There are 2 other SS's running around One is black and it use to be mine, the kid I sold it to live in Merill, OR near Kalmath. I tried to get him to join the forum but he never did. The other SS has California plates, but i use to see it in Klamath all the time, I think it may be the cousin of the guy who bought my SS. Good luck with your move. How much do you know about Klamath Falls? If you need any advice let me know. I can tell you the places to live and places to stay the hell away from.
  2. Well I am in Oregon, but i dont have an SS anymore. I dont think there are any other members from Oregon. I am in the Portland area now. Where exactly are you moving to in Oregon? South East? Not a whole lot out there.
  3. I always dream about what I would do if i won that kind of money in the lottery, but they i remember that you have to buy tickets to win.
  4. sweet Duramax, but I think you may have a hard time getting someone to trade you straight across for an SS especially with how many miles the dmax has on it.
  5. So you are from the south so Florida might not be that crazy of a movie for you.
  6. Florida would be a major shock for an Alaska boy. The weather would be hard to get use to, and the fact that it is so flat is also hard to get use to. No offense Jason, but personally I could not live in Florida. I would hate the Humidity, and the fact that there are now mountains anywhere. But thats just me. Anyway Brandon, So I see you work for Ford, well pretty much anywhere you will go there will be a Ford Dealership nearby so thats pretty good. But if you move to a larger city, there is always more of a chance of moving up in the world. I see your worried about CARB compliance, are you also worried about passing a smog test? Do you have cats? Just remember that many metro areas do smog testing, and have just a stringent of rules as California. I know thats the case in several places i mentioned in my last post (Phoenix, Vegas, Reno). I would not be surprised if they do testing in most places in Florida as well. Just something to think about. Its too bad that the only places you have been are Portland, Wisconsin and Chicago. Its super hard to find a place to move to if you have never been to the area. I moved from Oregon to Tucson, AZ with out every visiting Tucson so that was a major shock.
  7. There are a few questions you might want to think about before you make a decision to move: What do you currently do for a living? What are your skills, etc...? What do you want to do for a living? What is your cost of living? I know Fairbanks has a fairly high cost of living, but there are plenty of places more expensive, and plenty less. Do you want yo live in a Large Metro Area? Medium Size Metro Area? Small Town near a metro area? Are you the Outdoorsy type? Can you handle heat? Is it important to you to have a car culture? These are just a couple questions you may want to consider. So you have been to Portland for work. Did you like Portland? I am loving it here, but that would really not solve your cold and dark problem. The Temperature here is pretty mild, but it does rain quite a bit. Its a funky and fun place with quite a bit to do. I live about 20 min from downtown in a really nice suburb, so its nice and quite, but Im not that far away from a lot of things to do. The cost of living in the Portland area is about the same as Fairbanks. Portland is great for outdoorsy types If you really want to get out of the cold and dark, why not Phoenix? Tons to do, amazing weather, but it does get very hot which is hard to get use to. the cost of living is low and so is real estate. Not the best place for outdoorsy types, but there are tons of trails in the area for dirt bikes, and ATVs. Vegas is also option as well that will be similar to phoenix, but a little smaller. Of course there is always beautiful Southern California, but IMO there are jut way to may people. But there is plenty to do, and a huge car culture. You could also look at Northern California, but I would stay away from the Bay Area because its foggy there quite a bit, and it can be very expensive to live. If you are willing to live in a place that has pretty decent weather, but does have 4 seasons ( some snow in winter, some rain in spring, sunny and warm summers, and sunny and cool falls) Boise is a pretty good option. Its a growing area, with plenty to do, and is very good for outdoorsy types. Reno is another good options, the weather gets pretty hot in the summer, but it can snow a little bit in the winter. Its super close to the Sierra Nevadas which is great for skiing and hiking in the summer. The Salt Lake area is also another place that has pretty nice summers but can get a little snow in the winter. Also there is the Tri-cities in Washington. They are growing right now, the weather is pretty nice, but its a lot smaller than some of the other places I have listed. There is always Texas. Plenty of Jobs in all sorts of types of businesses. The weather is pretty nice in most parts, but I would avoid the southern and Eastern parts of Texas since It gets so hot and humid there. But Austin, Dallas, San Antonio are pretty nice, and there are lots and lots of other places as well. These are just a few things I could think of. This country is huge, and there are lots of places to go. Everyone will have a different opinion on where to go. I personally would suggest the West, and Southwest, but that is where I am from so thats the area I know and love. Others may say no go to the midwest, or no go to the south, or now go to the Northeast. Good luck.
  8. Since your truck is an 03-05 AWD than you can put a 16" on as long as it is the same lug pattern (those should be), and assuming you have stock brakes. The second ones you posted were the exact wheels i used in the winter on my truck. The 05-07 2WD then 17" is the smallest you can go. The 2WDs have bigger front discs.
  9. Yeah i have always liked them too I am very excited for the end result but its going to be a lot of work.
  10. So my paint and body guy has been making some progress. Its starting to look pretty good, he has been super busy and just started to get back into working on it. Hopefully has has it does soon. He told me he wanted to get it done before his baby come in April. In the mean time, I have been cleaning, sanding, and re-painting some of the under the hood parts to prepare them for re-assembly. Im getting super excited.
  11. Welcome to the site and congratulations on finding and SS
  12. Thats Hilarious! It had my at Fitzy lol
  13. I agree, there is a market for an SS. GM sold a decent number of our SS's so why not. They have everything they need to make and SS, but they wont do it. They do not have the balls. Instead they will just shove higher end packages down our throats like the Denali and High Country so they can make more money. Force you to buy the most expensive vehicles to get the engine you want, to spend $50k + Now I have more hopes that they may build a high performance Colorado. I think a Crew Cab Colorado with the 5.3L would be a pretty awesome replacement for and SS. I personally am very interested in a new Colorado. They are not that much smaller that a Silverado, Still are plenty capable, have room for kids in the back, and are a hell of a lot less expensive. A fully loaded Z71 4x4 is only about $37K. I cant wait till the diesel comes out: 2.8L 4Cyl with 369 ft/lbs of torque (more than my HD with the 6.0) and low 30's MPG's. Sounds good to me.
  14. sorry to hear you had to sell her, but i totally understand. Goo luck with your next ride.
  15. They are the Sylvania Silverstar Amber. They dont make them any more, they are still for sale, but are getting more and more expensive. http://www.amazon.com/Sylvania-SilverStar-27-Watt-Performance-Signal/dp/B000AMW0FQ
  16. Got my new Grille installed. I think it looks pretty darn good, but I may get a different bowtie. I think the black on black may be a little too much, maybe a brushed aluminum one to set it off a bit..
  17. Getting the Grille painted this week. I cant wait.
  18. I think its a pretty nice looking truck. Much better looking than the regular Silverado's. No it most likely wont have a 6.2. Unless this is just an option package you can add to a fully loaded LTZ with the 6.2. But it looks like it will be a special edition package so it will come one way and one way only. With a sticker price of just $40K im going to say that it will be pretty mid-range ie the LT package. Seeing is how an Double Cab LTZ (the only way you can currently get the 6.2) starts at $43k im certain it wont have the 6.2. the thing that is pissing me off the most about GM is there inability to offer options. You have to buy packages. If you want the 6.2 you have to get the LTZ or High Country will all the options that come with it. A 4x4 Crew Cab 6.5 box LTZ with the 6.2 is $49K (not including any discounts). What if dont want leather, and the cheap ass wood grain, or many of the other features the LTZ has? I could go down right now a buy a bare bones XL F150 CC with the 3.5L ecoboost for under $38K same case with Dodge. But if I want the engine I want, I will have to pay for feature I dont want if I go GM. Just pisses me off.
  19. I think thr Buick Avenir concept is pretty darn sexy. Sounds like GM is saving some of there good reveals until Chicago and New York. Should see the new Camaro
  20. welcome to the selling my SS regret club! we have cookies, LOL
