  1. Morimoto kits from The Retrofit Source are very well thought of, but they are pretty expensive. About $150 for bulbs and Balasts, but i have been told its worth it. My current kit in my HD is from Xenon Depot and it has lasted for over 2 years with no problems. It was like $100 for the kit.
  2. I decided to go with Fat Mat. It was the cheapest and i figured i could layer it and it still would be cheaper than dynamat. We will se how it turns out when i get to chance to install it next week.
  3. So i got most of my interior stripped out. Im planning on installing sound deadning to attempt to get rid of some of the drone from my exhaust and also get rid of some of the road noise. It was a pain in the ass to get all the seats out, but I hope its worth it. I had an audio shop quote me $1000 to have sound deadning installed in the floor and all my doors, so I decided to do it myself for a lot lot less. While i have all the interior removed i decided it might be a good idea to fix my amp wiring since i did a half assed job running it the first time, as you can see
  4. oooooh. What kind of wheels are those?
  5. So what are you sick of? Just the loudness, or do you have a bad drone? The reason I ask is that I love the sound of my exhaust on my HD at open throttle, but it has a terrible drone when cruising down the road. So I have been thinking about getting a resonator installed before the muffler. I think that will help with the drone quite a bit. So thats an option.
  6. man those black chrome ones would have looked great on my SS
  7. yeah it looks stock to me. Hmmm interesting, the rake just seems extra high but i guess its 2wd and im use to 4wd trucks and how they sit. The truck would look great with 2" drop shackles
  8. I did not know Toyota made a Tacoma SS, lol just kidding.
  9. Welcome to the site! Nice Truck That rake is pretty wild. Does it have airbags, or something on the back? just seems like the back end is way higher then it should be.
  10. man i hate when people join this site just to sell their SS's
  11. Those work too but I have seen the coating on them start to peel
  12. 5000k is a good choice The issues is with my Legacy. The 05-09 Legacy's use the low beam as the DRL. So the bulbs are on all the time and the DRLs are a lower voltage which is not good for HIDs. I put a capacitor on which stopped the low voltage issue but because the lights were on all the time I went through bulbs fast. So I said screw it and put regular bulbs in.
  13. Like others have said. The Ebay headlights look great but you have to put extra silicone on there in order to make sure they are sealed. I just installed some in my HD and I sealed them up but they are still getting some moisture inside, so im trying to figure out how. I would recommend getting some Amber bulbs for the turn signals, any amber bulb will do, but you can go with LEDs, but they will flash fast unless you install a resistor. Sylvania use to make awesome 3157 Amber bulbs that dont look amber but light up amber. They can still be found on the interwebs but it can be difficult. You can use an 194 amber bulb for the corner lights I would recommend going with HID's, I have 4200K HIDs in my HD and I love them, but Silverado headlight housings are not designed for HIDs so the light spreads out and is not focused like it is in vehicles with projectors who are designed for HIDs. But it still looks good and is nice and bright. If you go with HIDs make sure you don't go any more than 6000K. The higher you go up the light temperature scale the bluer it becomes and the less light it puts out. 4200K are what stock HID systems use. 5000K are good too, and 6000K are quite a bit more blue, but they still have pretty good light output. IF you decided not to go with HIDs, the best bulb I have found that is the brightest and closest you can get to HID is the Sylvania Silvestar zXe. I have those in my high beams, and I have them in both on my Subaru. Subarus are known to burn out HIDs so I just went with regualr bulbs.
  14. That is strange. I dont know why it would be flickering, maybe something wrong with your ballasts. Sounds like you hooked it up the right way.
  15. Interesting that the H1's flicker without a harness, but the 9006's dont. When I installed an HID kit in my Subaru (H7's) that is how I wired it up. You should have a Power Wire, A Ground Wire, a plug that goes to the Drivers Side factory headlight connector, A plug that plugs into the driver side ballast, and then a plug that plugs into the passenger side ballast. Then the factory passenger headlight connector should be left unconnected. That's the way i understand the all aftermarket HID wiring harnesses are hooked up, but I don't know if there would be a difference with the H1 bulb. I would not think so. You could always go onto http://www.theretrofitsource.com/ they have some good formation and you can chat with a live person and see if they know the proper way to hook up the harness to a Silverado
  16. Im 99% sure that you CANT get just the tip
  17. If you are putting HIDs on your SS you do not need a harness. I have been running thme for years without. Some vehicles need harnesses and some do not. If you really want to use the harness there are a few videos on youtube that explain how to hook it up. It does not have to be Silverado specific any video on any car should work.
  18. Here is one of my favorite pictures I ever took of my SS. This was not to long after I bought her
  19. Yeah must have been a fake STI, or a crappy driver because It should have destroyed you if you are stock. My stock Legacy GT is faster than my tuned SS was, and the STI's are even faster than the LGT's
  20. Yes and no. The SS when it did come out in 03-04 it was fully loaded (with everything that was offered at that time). Then in 05 they started offering the SS in more affordable packages with options. My SS had AWD but it did not have the auto HVAC and the steering wheel controls or the sunroof which became an option in 05. It is understandable if chevy was to sell a newer SS that it is a fully loaded package, but still my complaint is about how they only offer certain engines and certain options in certain trim packages. If you want a 5.3 you have to at least get an LT. If you want the 6.2 you have to get at least the LTZ. Compared to Ford or Dodge who allow you to add their best engines to lower level packages. And it's. It just engine choices, it's the same with many options as well. To get a sunroof you have to get and LTZ or high country but ford offers a sunroof in their XLT package which is mid range.
  21. Just PM'd you a bunch of more info about Klamath.
