  1. Things You Hate And Dont Understand How about gravity. I'm not magnetic, why do I stick to this planet? Gravity is a real PITA. It makes me fall down and hurt myself when I trip or get sideways on a motorcycle. Without gravity, space travel would be much easier, and my bullets would fly perfectly straight like laser beams. Mike
  2. I'm full of crap, they are different. I am pretty sure that the cam that is in the LQ9 was used in one of the earlier vette engines, but I can't find it now. Mike
  3. Maybe I'm full of crap, but I thought the cam in the LQ9 truck engine was the same part number used in the LS6. Mike
  4. Truck sounds good. Mine sounds very similar to that. I bet Fireman31's does too since he has the same setup I do. I like it when I hit second and it breaks loose, RPM's go waaay up, and it starts to go sideways. That sound with tires howling and the V8 growling... I think I just had one. Mike
  5. Well, that makes you 9 hours from where I live. I live 3 hours East of Boise. Guess I WON'T be seeing you around LOL. Welcome again. Mike
  6. That is not an "SS" grille. It was a GM Accessory. You can tell because the honeycomb grille is chrome instead of black. When I bought my truck, these were selling for close to 300 new, so it's a decent deal if you want to pay the shipping. Shipping to me was 143.00 It does come in a F'n big box. I bought the real SS grille for mine, so I know. Mike
  7. Welcome fellow Idahoan. Where the hell is Potlatch? Mike
  8. That is because the engine does shut off at the lights. It also shuts off every time you coast or apply the brakes. It only runs when acceleration is needed, or when you are cruising at a higher speed. It will use electric for short distances at low speeds and cruising around parking lots, etc. I ride my MC to work in the summer, but believe it or not, my Prius gets better mileage than my MC. I only get 37 MPG with my bike where I can get 50 in town with the Prius. But my Prius won't rip 10 second quarters all day long like the bike will. It will go 0-60 in 10 seconds though. Mike
  9. The heads and cam would without a doubt void all warranty on your drivetrain components. It is not technically legal to modify those parts on an emission controlled vehicle either. The TC and shift kit would also void the warranty on the transmission and they would have a valid argument to deny coverage on a damaged engine, driveshaft, transfer case, or axle as well. I say engine because in order to run the TC and shift kit, you will have to run a non-stock tune. If they know the tune is not stock, they will argue that changes to the tune were the likely cause of the engine failure (even if they were not). It would be hard to win with them. Mike
  10. LOL. I drive a Prius as my DD. They are NOT fast! But damn they go a long way on a gallon. I raced a Honda Civic with a fart can muffler yesterday. I beat him with my Prius. I can't think of anything that would hurt a young man's pride more than that. And to add insult to injury, he had a buddy with him to witness it. I am still chuckling about it. Mike
  11. If he got you by a truck length the first time, I'd say he definitely has a tune as well as the exhaust. Those trucks are not very impressive with the stock tuning. They have a four second delay after you floor it before they will deliver full power. Don't ask me why. Mike
  12. All I've been doing for the last two days is moving snow. It has snowed about 20 inches in two days and it is supposed to snow another 18" tonight. I am so sore I can hardly move and I have to do it all again. All the stores here are sold out of snowblowers and snow shovels. Luckily I already have a blower. I have used it a bunch. I am getting sick of the snow though. I did buy skis, maybe I'll go use them. Mike
  13. All my torque management is done with my right foot. Mike
  14. I have heard that the lower temp T-stat increases volumetric efficiency because the incoming air will stay cooler if the engine temp is kept lower. This also allows the computer to put slightly more timing in to make more power. You do need a tune if you have electric fans to turn them on at a lower temperature. I have also heard that you need to have cold start enrichment end at a lower temperature or your gas mileage will suffer because the computer will not stop enriching the mixture since the temp is not high enough. I could be full of crap. I sometimes am, I'm told. That's just the stuff I heard. I guess that would mean my sources were full of crap too. Who knows? Can anyone verify this stuff? Mike

    Site Problems?

It is definitely slow. I can go make a sammich and eat it before the next page loads. Whats up with the banner ads at the top. They are in the wrong spot, pushing everything else to the right. Mike
  16. Your tire size would help too. Smaller diameter tires may be better off with 3.73s. They newer trucks, like mine, do better with 4.10s because they have taller tires. Mike
  17. I'm not sure what you consider cheap. The tune (which you already mentioned) is going to be the best bang for the buck. You could add gears and a cam if you really need more power after that. By the way, should the title "More Power..." be shouted out loud in my evil scientist voice with hands raised in the air??? LOL Mike
  18. I'm not sure I'd recognize an 09 if I saw one. They all look the same to me. I did notice they got a considerable bump in HP. They should be quick, especially in 2WD single cab short box configuration. I still have yet to run a Tundra. I hope I don't come up against a TRD supercharged on my first run in. Mike
  19. I may have to. It's not like I could do anything fun like camping or fishing. That stuff costs money. I am a little worried because I charged several new guns on my credit card recently, which is something I never do. I don't usually carry a balance. Now I have to pay off the card at the same time my wages are being reduced considerably. The only reason I charged on it was because I know Obama wants to ban them. I wanted to buy them before that happened. I think I will be fine, but I will have to cut WAAAAY back on my spending. Internet may have to go too. Thanks again guys, and good luck to all the others who are suffering with me. Mike
  20. Thanks for the encouraging words guys. It sounds like I'm not the only one who's going to be hurting. We'll make it, but times are definitely going to be lean. I just bought a new ski package and now I am going to be too broke to go skiing. Just my luck I might finally have time to put that 160 degree T-stat in this summer LOL. Mike
  21. You know how the "credits" thing works in HPTuners, don't you? If you buy HPTuners used, you better be sure it has credits left or you will have to purchase some from HPTuners to tune your truck. The credits are stored in the interface device. Mike
  22. I was just informed that I will be taking a 1,000/month paycut. I will actually see about a 600.00/month reduction in take home. I work 11 months a year now and will only be working 9 months now. That really hurts the budget. I am still trying to figure out how to manage it. I thought I would be safe working for a University. The governor has mandated that we make such deep cuts that programs are being close and people are being let go. I still have a job, but I am going to make quite a bit less. I guess the bright side is I'll be off all summer. The downside to that is I'll be too broke to do anything fun. Mike
  23. I take it by the lack of responses, that I may be the only one ever with this problem. Interesting, but in line with my usual luck LOL. Mike
  24. I started my truck today and the gas guage was reading empty and the yellow light next to the fuel level came on. I was like WTF? I got out and looked underneath to see if it all leaked out while I was in Costco. No leaks. I just filled the thing up a few days ago and knew I had over three quarters of a tank left. So I start driving and notice that the check engine light is also on. While I was driving home, the gauge went back to reading normally, but the check engine light was still lit. When I got home, I used my interceptor gauges to get the codes. I got a P0461 that has to do with a faulty fuel level reading and a P0315 that is a crank position out of range error. I have had the P0315 error before and had to fix it with a CASE learn utility in my HPTuners. Why would I get that code again? Anyone know? Thanks in advance. Mike
