as bad as it has been till now, have fun going to the ER if you need it. we're all f*cked now. how about doing something about the illegals in this country so that the rest of the tax paying CITIZENS can live the life we are entitled. I have no problem with people from other lands coming here, but to come here you must go through the proper channels and allowing these people to congest our hospitals and doctors' offices while our government just rolls over and lays down is a joke. what's next? let's ban salt in all prepared food. oh wait!!! NEW YORK is (OF ALL PLACES) looking to ban this. Nope, no chefs there to explain why that is important but that is another issue. Yes, this is happening. Look it up.

For some time now I have wanted to hardwire my Valentine 1 but I didn't want to splice into any factory wiring. I came across this kit from MGT Motorsports called the Blendmount and it comes with an optional cord called the Invisicord. They make this kit for a variety of applications. I installed it this morning and it was simple and seemless. The Kit: Before Pic 1: Before Pic 2: The Invisicord Installed (black to Ground Pin 9, yellow to Switched Power Pin 13): After Pic 1: After Pic 2: For the install, 1.) remove the mirror from the windshield and unplug the harness from the back of the mirror. 2.) remove the suction cups from the slide portion of the Valentine 1 3.) loosen but not remove the 2 allen key screws with nuts with supplied allen wrench and attach Valentine 1 slide piece. 4.) retighten the 2 allen key screws with supplied allen wrench. 5.) remove top of collar and felt spacer from Blendmount using the supplied allen wrench. 6.) attach collar to mirror and adjust hinge to proper angle using supplied allen wrench. 7.) install Invisicord by sliding the BLACK wrapped connector into Pin 8 in harness and YELLOW wrapped connector in Pin 13 in harness. 8.) plug harness into rearview mirror. 9.) reattach mirror to windshield. 10.) you are done and ready to test. The detector should turn on when you turn the key to ON and turn off when you turn the key to OFF. It does not stay on with the radio in the off position. As always (here is the disclaimer), you should disconnect the battery before tampering with any electrical wiring in your vehicle!!!!

I just got around to telling Emily about this and she is excited. Some of the listed spots are some of her favorites including "my favorite lighthouse on the planet". If anyone wants to come up a day or 2 early and hit Boston for a night that would be cool. Another thought was maybe staying in Newburyport instead of Boston and then making the short drive to Salisbury Beach in the morning. We would be down for either. and as for breakfast at the Brighton res... don't think that could happen. we could do it in the parking across the street at the court house though and "tailgate"....

I just had to pay my Massachusetts Excise Tax. If you aren't from Mass, this is the tax that you must pay in order to legally park YOUR car (that you already paid sales tax on) in YOUR driveway or in front of YOUR house. I had to laugh at the estimated value that the City of Boston placed on my truck... $3950, so I did alittle research... Under MGL Chapter 60A, all Massachusetts residents who own and register a motor vehicle must annually pay a motor vehicle excise. Also, under MGL Chapter 59, Section 2, it is important to note that every motor vehicle, whether registered or not, is subject to taxation, either as excise or personal property, for the privilege of road use, whether actual or future. The excise is levied by the city or town where the vehicle is principally garaged and the revenues become part of the local community treasury. An excise at the rate of $25 per one thousand dollars of valuation (effective 1/1/81) is levied on each motor vehicle. Information on the value of a motor vehicle is accessed electronically through a data bank complete with valuation figures. Different sources provide the valuation figures depending upon whether the motor vehicle is an automobile, a truck, a motorcycle, or a trailer. For example, automobile valuations are derived from figures published in the National Automobile Dealers Association Official Used Car Guide (NADA), to which the Registry has electronic access. Most public libraries have copies of NADA and other motor vehicle official guides. Figures are the manufacturers’ list prices for vehicles in their year of manufacture. Present market value, price paid, or condition are not considered for excise tax purposes. The excise tax law (M.G.L. c.60A, s.1) establishes its own formula for valuation for state tax purposes whereby only the manufacturer’s list price and the age of the motor vehicle are considered. The formula is as follows: In the year preceding the model year (brand new car released before model year) 50% In the model year 90% In the second year 60% In the third year 40% In the fourth year 25% In the fifth and succeeding years 10% Every motor vehicle owner must pay an excise tax based on valuation of at least ten percent of the manufacturer’s list price; thus, owners of vehicles older than five years should have a fixed excise tax bill for succeeding years of ownership. Even though an owner may have applied for an abatement that may reduce an excise tax bill, no excise shall be less than $5.

I could be up for this. too bad 127 from Beverly, Manchester-by-the-sea, Gloucester, and Rockport doesn't continue up there. I drive that alot for work and there is some great ocean stretches. It would be cool though if it went up thru Ipswich and Newburyport to Salisbury. Would make for a nice long coastal drive.
