  1. i was jus reading how you lowered your truck i want to drop mine some more and read somewhere that id you change your body mounts to s10 bushings it gives you another inch and three quares of drop but am not sure if its true ...article was in truckn mag and the truck it was done to was the avalanche /apacheconversion

    You could probably put the bushing on the cab part of the truck but want about the bed, there is no bushing between the bed and the frame mounts.

  2. DAMN THAT THING IS NICE. I have a 63 ss Nova I have being trying to finish for 10 yrs. She has sat in the back now for about 4 yrs. Went to get married and was put in the back burner then had a kid 1 year ago. Hopefully she can come out as clean as yours. I went with the fastest color on mine BLACK :D (LOL).

     

    Black fast HAHA Come and set in this yellow one and you will think different. Actually the car is a little rough but it was last painted in 1975 yes 1975 except for the hood. I purchased it 10 yrs. ago and have driven the crap out of it. I want to tear it apart and redo it but I know will happen I will get it to where I don't want to drive because it will be to nice to get dirty but thanks for the compliments and you will get your finished in time.

  3. As some of you have followed the problem was finally found. Mechanic A took it back to the dealership after the retuned computer was installed and still nothing. The tech tool was not talking the computer though the ALDL still. They put the factory computer back in and they found a ground wire behind the motor that was intermittently grounding. They recrimped the wire and it fired and is running fine now. Now I just have to put the tuned computer in but I'm alittle scared at the moment because I finally have a truck that is running and my 66 nova is a mess from driving it to work this week.

    But to all like I said it was a ground wire behind the motor that was causing all the trouble.

  4. As you guys know my truck was taken to the dealership and diagnosted. They said it was the computer. I wasn't going to pay 900.00 for a GM unit when I could get a tuned one cheaper. I had the first mechanic tow it back to his shop to install the computer. So I got one from wait4me and it got here today. He installed the computer and still nothing. I think he is out of his league on this one also like me. I've searched, talked to and everything in between and people keep telling the ignition switch. So I call the GM dealership to see what the price of one is about 50.00. So I call the 1st mechanic thats working it and he said I don't no whats wrong. I ask him to put a ign. switch in as it only 50.00, I mine as well gamble on that one. He is going to get it tomorrow and install it. I hope this works.

    What really p*sses me off is the fact the dealership said it was the computer and they can't even diagnos it right and then when that didn't fix it where they going to charge me the 900.00? I really frustrated here and at my wits end with and don't no where to turn too as I can't afford right now to have the dealership rack a huge bill for me. Sorry guys but wish me luck and any more heplful tips!!!

    Does anybody know where I can get a wiring diagram of the ign. switch? Maybe somebody can post one.

  5. They are just guessing because they don't know whats wrong either.......get the truck out of there before they screw you royally!

     

    I hope you are wrong because I have a wait4me tuned computer coming in the mail. I got a next air tuned PCM for 185.00 and free returnes and they where really nice people to take too. If the puter is not the problem the dealership is going to get a ear full and I might call GM and report them.

    Yea I will. Mechanic A come got it yesterday mourning and he did all the diagnostic checks he could with no luck in fixing it so off to the dealership it goes Monday mourning. He is thinking its in the body control module whatever that is. He said when he was working on it that the brake lights were staying on too . I telling you guys this thing is doing some weird stuff. Then to top all that off yesterday afternoon go to fire the ol TV to watch some TV and that dam thing will not come on. So off to Wal-Mart the wife goes to buy a new flat screen 42" Sanyo and that was 800.00 and some dollars. Wife calls on cell and ask if we should get the extended warranty for 60.00 and I tell her te way things have been going the last few weeks hell yea. Two weeks before all this the wife van blows a head gasket but I did get it traded off and bought a 2006 Chrylser 300 so far all ok with that. Sorry guys but I will diifenetly post what the problem was.

  7. i'm late on this suggestion..., get it towed to a service place...dealership or some type of garage and get a diagnostic ran on your truck. the diagnostic will not lie and will tell you the problem...we here, can say what we think is wrong with w/your SS all day long but you need a true test. it'll cost about $90 or so.

     

    Yea your right I'm getting it towed tomorrow mourning to a service place and he said he would look at and if he can't fix he will not charge me anything, but I'm hoping he can fix it because there shop rate is much less the dealerships. I really think it has something to do with the theft deterrent system because I hooked the battery back awhile ago and the theft light came and stayed on. I would be worried to much about the cost of fixing but i'm getting ready to go to Canada in couple weeks bear hunting and I don't want to get into that money I've saved. But thanks to all that has tried to help me. I new going into this that is was probably over my head but being the person I am I like to fix my own things. Again thanks to everybody that tried.

  8. do you have an aftermarket alarm/remote starter installed?

     

    No it has none of that stuff.

     

    So you also say the pump should run if the theft deterrent is activated.

     

    If the ignition switch through craps would that cause the VTD to lite up and for it to not crank and turn the fuel pump on. When you do turn the ignition switch to run the instrument cluster light and stuff work. Also why would it cause the door locks switch to not let you lock and unlock the doors and the key fab will not let you unlock the doors either. I'm just about to throw in the towel on this thing.

  9. This before work I check the fuel pump outside the tank with a batt. charge and it ran. So I go check for voltage at the plug for the fuel pump and I can't get a voltage at all. I have check the crank fuse and switched the fuel pump relay around with another one and still no voltage. Is there a fuel pump fuse as I can't seem to find that one. I'm at a diffenent lose know. Anybody want to buy a truck cheap!!

    Thanks for any help or more input guys.

     

    I have took it out of park and let it roll forward alittle and have jacked the shifter up and down alittle also.

  10. Yea I'll be doing the work myself. I have a already got the fuel pump out. I jacked up the bed on the drivers side and got enough clearance to get the fuel pump out. Should I get a fuel pump relay while get the pump. I think its good as I did some switching of the relays and the FP relay I put into a circuit that was working and it clicked. Is there a way to test the pump out of the vehicle? Thanks for your imput Jond983.

  11. Well found the crank fuse and it looks good and the fuel pump relay. After you said something about the fuel pump I notice that the gauge is on empty and I know it has a half tank in it. So is that a pretty good indication also. How much is a fuel pump and should I get one from GM or from a part house. Thanks again.

  12. Where the he** is those 2 fuses the fuel pump and crank fuse. Also why does the anti-theft light and the seat belt light come on and stay on.

  13. Last night park the truck everything was fine.

    This mourning go get into a start and nothing. So i thought about most of the day and the battery has been getting weak. So come home after to jump start the truck still nothing. I noticed the ant-theft deterrant light stays lite. So I unhook the battery and no anti- theft light or is functioning properly now. I also notice when the anti-theft light is on the doors will not lock or unlock from the fab or the door panel controls.

    I got purchase a new battery still the same thing. After about 3 tries the anti-theft light stays lite. I've check some fuses and swapped a few ign. breakers around and still nothing. This thing is turning everything to start (dash stuff) but does nothing. Fuel pump, starter does nothing.

    This is starting to p*ss me off and I need some help here so please respond. Thanks

     

    P.S. I will supply more info if needed but this is what doing!!!!

  14. thats very simular to the cam i installed 220/224 .581 112. Zippy did the tuning through the mail. tbtc waiting to be installed. if i dont like it ill go to a yank 2600 or 3000. i love the cam seems to hit power band at about 2500. nice lope and the tune is spot on nice steady rpms at idle. installed the cam b4 the pcm so that first time i cranked it was cool it loped so hard it wouldnt stay running. anyway id take zippys advice and get that cam.

     

    Hey BulldogSS,

    Do you ave a sound clip of that cam. Can you give more details on the cam also. (Manufacture, part #, etc.)
