4L80E Install Help
ss wrecker replied to firehawknwv's topic in AWD, Differential, & Transmission Tech
get a stock front shaft for an auto 4wd 1/2 ton thats what i did and its the correct length cant remember how much we shortened my driveshaft but also converted to a 14 bolt at the time of the swap. the input shaft for the transfer case you can get from time to kill its a very easy mod and you just send him your stock back oh and if you get anaftermarket stall you shouldnt need the 80e flexplate my yank bolted right up to the 60e flexplate -
im down if i got the cashflow then man
-
you have to move the rubber boot that the pins go through and the part it screws into has two flat sides that i think a 16mm wrench fits to hold to get the pins out(make sure to clan the pins and grease them prior to reinstall)
-
do it man i consider this the best mod on my truck i couldn't get my truck to stop at all before with my huge cam and i have the alumasports on the front of my truck

6.0 Awd Into Standard Cab, Short Bed Chassis?
ss wrecker replied to dgi's topic in Off-Topic/General
i think if he has the complete undamaged suspension from the awd truck you might be able to swap it onto a 2wd chassis although im not 100% sure about that though -
maybe mark this as a how to injector test for the less mechanically inclined folks out there
-
steve for once on the subject of these trucks you're wrong about the hubs the 4wd hubs are held together by the half shafts whereas the 2wd hubs are not which is what virgil learned the hard way when he converted to 2wd. so showngo yes you need the hubs to convert to 2wd

that sucks what are you gonna with the old steering wheel? im trying to collect the parts to get the dic to work in my wrecker

Question About Having My Ss Towed
ss wrecker replied to gmJake's topic in AWD, Differential, & Transmission Tech
seeing as im one of the resident tow truck drivers heres my recomendation either flatbed it if that is not available a regular tow truck can do it one of two ways with dolleys(the little wheels on the bed) or pull the rear driveshaft and tie it up out of the way with some wire(4 11mm bolts hold it in place -
well i guess it worked but i wouldnt have done it thats just me lol
-
hm let me guess its gonna have a certain color that everytime you see my truck you tell me you just love it, right.
-
i've got an iss one i got for 20 bucks and had it painted blue its sitting on top of my tv. my gf was like wtf when i brought it home and took it apart because she wanted to play with it and i was like idc if it works i bought it to paint and display
-
i've done the swap because i couldnt keep a 60 alive im in my swap for about $2500 and i love it. if you get an aftermarket stall you dont need the 4l80 flexpate im using my stock one
-
That's how they come from the factory. Both my grilles on my two trucks are that way.

From what I've read it also has the oddball longer crank so just a heads on that
-
I really wanted to go to the track but I told a friend I would be at his bday party. I haven't even redone my bottle tune since the 80 swap. Nice meeting Brian and Michelle and good to see some friends I haven't seen in a while either

Pictures Of My C10 And I Need Some Options Of What To Do
ss wrecker replied to BlueAKSSS's topic in Video & Photography
lq9 sounds like a good plan. love your truck the onl thing i would change is the wheels. otherwise sick truck -
should be ok as long as there is tire clearance with the fenders and ground but if there is less than 6-8 inches of clearance when loaded i wouldn't do it. that being said i know budget has car trailers just not sure if theyre bigger enough for the sss
-
just pull the rear shaft from the axle and use some bailing wire to tie it up out of the way of the yoke on the axle to keep the trans fluid in the tranny
-
go to budget or penske i think they have trailers that it will fit on. won't fit in the back of a uhaul to long, and the floors won't hold the weight of the truck
