I was driving home tonite and a Mercedes Benz Cllk 320 pulls up next to me and was trying to race me. SO we got to a redlight and he looks over, its a younger kid with his gf. He starts to smile and laugh and begins to creep up at the light. When the light turned green I hit it and had him by alot. Wasnt much but it was my first "street" race and I was excited. Also my cousin was in the car and we are both around 210 lbs. Kind of embarasing for the kid trying to show off to his g/f in his parents benz.

are you talking about an sl65amg or something along that line because the current generation S600 v12 has about 500 bhp and the 55 amg has about 480 or so bhp. The 65 amg is the one with over 600 bhp and 700 ft/lbs. Any of those are definately something to watch out for, but a modified SS can take on the W140 style S600, with the 6.0L v12. They aren't that fast.

An S class Mercedes weighs in at 4600 lbs, almost the same as a rcsb pickup. I would think, though with almost 500 HP and better aerodynamics, the S 600 would be tough to beat. I think MB quotes 0=60 at 4.6 seconds... that's pretty quick. :wtf:

The germans are having a horsepower battle

Mercedes has 12 cars that do 0-60 in th 4sec-5sec range and 7 in the 5sec to 6 sec range

they have 3 models in the 360-430hp range

8 choices in the 430-500hp range

and 2 with 500-570hp

The new BMW m-5 will have a v-10 with 500hp out of the box. 0-60 in 4.7 sec for a bone stock four door is pretty sweet.

No s..t. Remember when American cars were considered inefficient, overweight V-8 gas guzzlers compared to Audis, Bimmers, Benzes and Porsches? Now it's like the only 8 cylinder RWD sedans you can find are German. Not enough? They have a V-10 or V-12 for you.

The amount of stock HP these manufacturers are handing their deep-pocketed clients these days is pretty staggering. Hope all the buyers know how to drive...

those are the current S600 stats, the previous generations were slower, I have a 1999 S600 which is the w140 series and the 6.0L v12 its rated at 400bhp. they do 0-60 in about 6 seconds. The current models are definately more powerful, and something to watch out for, but they did pay a few times more than we did for our SSs.
