Barona "Truck" Drag Meet Update!

I just got off the phone with the Barona Drag Strip Director, Tony.

If we get 10 or more trucks to show up, and if we are interested, Tony can set up a "Gambler Event" for us! What's a "Gambler Event" ? Well, we all get together in the morning and decide how much each person wants to contribute to the "Pot" (i.e. $10, $20, whatever we agree too). Then we make our runs on a ladder system based on our Bracket (time we select). So the way that goes is: A person decides what his 1/8th mile time is, then, his goal is to get as close to that time, without going over. Now, if I were to pick an 1/8th mile time of 7.5 sec, then a perfect run would be a 7.5. Got it. Purse is a 60/40 split. 60% going to the winner, 40% going to the runner up.

Also, Tony said that if this is your first time at a Drag Strip, he will line you up singles or (by yourself) until you get comfortable with the process. If you want , of course.

He also noted that, at a very min, we should get 10 runs in per person, and that the least populated times were right at 10a.m. and around 4p.m.

very cool!

are you going to get one free run in first to see an et before you guess it? :dunno:

ive only ran 1/4 mile tracks ( sac) with a 12.3@109.

The Drag Strip manager, Tony, said he'll do whatever we need, that he was there to support us. Pretty nice guy. I was thinking 2-3 runs before we pic our time.

The earlier we get there, the more options we have

Eric-the weather is usually pretty good there but I am not too sure about the elevation. On the 19th, my guess is that it will be cool and dry with little or no wind...just a guess; I'm not a weather man! :dunno: Before my trans mods, I ran in the 9.50's consistently and I was detonating the whole way down (PCM was not set for CA gas). The shutdown area is real short so if your truck is done "done," you may want to be careful!
