6.0ss
does anyone know how he did it? i thought i was told that if you take it out there is alot of damage done.. whats the secret? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The answer is this, He removed the front drive shaft to dyno the truck, but.... before that happend he had a friend that was on the inside at GM and obtained through warranty the parts that would have been damaged from doing that and replaced them after the dyno tune. This is what Larry at Speed inc Said they did for Jeff to get his dyno runs done on the 2WD dyno they have!
stexx
i just got my truck on the dyno last week by taking out the driveshaft and when i got home i took it back out and junked my trany and transfercase i have asked just about everyone and it cant be done, however i also heard you could use a z71 transfercase but like i say i just heard not for sure
tommay248
yeah i was thinking if you took the transfer case outa another chevy and threw it right in would it work? and then put the buttons on the dash where that slot is for that application in a 4wd.. that would be great to do
stexx
if you think about it it should work im not sure but it would be worth looking into it would hurt at the drag strip but slicks can solve that
6.0ss
If you put a normal 4x4 switchable trasfercase in the truck you would not have the AWD on the street with out the lurching associated with a closed center diff.
vandy350
you guys are crazy. why would you want to tear up your ss for this? go buy a regular chevy if you want 2wd, please. nothing beats awd for the traction that we get. if you have a 2wd, you will do nothing but spin spin spin if you want to go faster, look no furthur than more raw horsepower. I've posted this many times, but will again. I've had my truck on the dyno 3 times for a total of 10 or so pulls. once around 500 miles, once around 20k and once around 30k. I have had NO PROBLEMS WHATSOEVER! all were with the front driveshaft removed.
