zippy
SLP is a good source for the 03' thermostat's. for you guys considering buying a thermostat make sure you point out the year of your vehicle when ordering. the 03' is different from the 04' and 05'. 2003SS B.B.
Instructions to purge air pockets from cooling system. Hypertech LS1 160 stat. 1. Fill cooling system 2. Start and let engine idle for 1 minute with purge cap off. 3. Reinstall purge cap and cycle engine from idle to 3000 RPM in 30-40 second intervals. This needs to be done until engine reaches est. operating temp. (std temp = 200-210 deg, 160 stat = 180-190 deg). 4. When cooling system is at the proper temp, shut off engine, remove surge cap (very slowly due to pressure). 5. With cap off, start engine and let idle for 1 minute. 6. Fill surge tank 1/2" above "Fill Cold" mark on tank. 7. Repeat step 3 once more, then shut off engine. 8. Allow coolant to cool, remove surge cap (again slowly). Top off the coolant to 1/2" above the "Fill Cold" mark on tank. Tighten Cap. A bit a process, but it worked for me. Good luck
