those cali prices are sure high

 

A big reason for the price differences across state lines has to do with the widely varying excise taxes that a state will load onto the per-gallon price. It is very high, for example, in Michigan.

 

Here in NC, they tax tobacco and alcohol more than gas, so I can get premimum 93 for $2.32/gal. Even cheaper in SC just a few miles south of Charlotte.

 

Also, Cali has some funky formulation requirements that add to the production costs.

 

Either way, this sucks!
