j4nash
Does any one know how much load rating you need in a good wheel? Also does any one know the load rating of the stock wheel? I am trying to pick out some new wheels for my ss but I want to make shore that I have a high load rating because I pull a 23 ft. boat and don’t want to have any problems. Lee
j4, I haven't gotten back with you about your question in the other thread on mine as I don't know the answer about load. Sorry. It's the weekend and my installer in obviously closed.

BenKey
I think Lee answered that in his wish list he posted: Giovanna wheels $3,200Over size tires for above $1,200 Supercharger $6,000 Moonroof $1,000 Alpine Nav. System $2,400 Flush mounted Tonneau $ 700 (painted) ] Nerf bars N/C (took them off my old truck) Total $14,500 Hey Lee, S-chgr is next on the list? I got my wife a Grand Prix GTP that is supercharged yesterday. First vehicle I've ever driven/ridden with one. It confirmed my decision, got to have one. And, since she has one now, I got the green light.
whmayhew
BenKey I hope you like your supercharger better than the one my wife had in a 1995 Buick Riviera. I did not like the car and did not like the power either. Maybe there was something wrong with it.

Lee
way to go man got the wife to let you get your SC j4, Yeah, that's what I was going to say, too. I have known some great women but few it any understood my need for speed (in cars or motorcycles). In fact, it was generally one of our problem areas - when I wanted to spend money on a brand new vehicle to make it do something different than the mfg. installed. You had also asked for the load rating on my wheels and I just called the installer this morning to get an answer to your question. The guy I needed so speak with is unfortunately on vacation and will not be back until a week from tomorrow. Sorry, bro.
j4nash
If you don't mind me asking lee did you really spend $3,200 on your Giovanna wheels? I am trying to decide on a pare of wheels but 20'' are so expensive and I am trying to save money for a SC but I really want a pare of chrome wheels that aren’t to much more weight than the stock wheels and they have to have a good load rating but I am not share how much load rating I need. If any one has any advice it would be much-appreciated thanks.
creaker
If you are worried about weight and/or load rating, get forged alloy wheels. They are stronger & lighter than cast wheels of the same size. The stock wheels are cast aluminum and by most accounts I have seen of 20x8.5 wheels they will weigh at least 30 pounds, and probably more. It's not so easy to find load ratings on wheels, because in the US it isn't regulated. Mfgs will sometimes stamp the rating on the wheel, but not always. To get an exact number you may have to call the mfg and call more than once until you get someone who actually knows (or at least knows how to get) the specficiations. Some good info on types of wheels: http://www.grmotorsports.com/wheels.html Has weights for some wheels (but definitely not all): http://www.1010tires.com/wheels.asp Good photos of most wheels: http://www.tirerack.com/wheels/wheelbrands.htm Someone trying to collect a lot of wheel weights (spotty coverage, but gives a good idea of weight vs. size; note the difference in weights between forged & cast): http://www.mysportscar.com/features/wheelweight.htm

creaker
You may want to look at this thread (it's about tires, not wheels): http://www.silveradoss.com/forums/index.ph...?showtopic=1280 The stock tires have a load rating of 111, which translates to 2403 lbs. That should be the minimum acceptable load rating of any wheel you decide on. I don't think you're going to have a problem meeting that number, as almost all wheels I've looked at have at least a 2400 lb rating if they are specifically for truck/SUV use (even 20"+ wheels).
