How low would you go?

Looking at droping my truck here real soon. I don't want just a 2/4 I want either a 3/5 or 4/6. I am just wondering what you would do? I am concerned about the notch. I don't know how much that will affect the value of my truck (not that I am planning on getting rid of it soon or anything) I would do it right and have it professionally welded in by a guy I know that builds race cars. Once the cladding is on, it will make the the truck look about 2 inches or so lower, so my thinking is that a 3/5 will look like a 5/7 and a 4/6 will look like a 6/8. I have 275/45's on my wheels now. I will also have to section the crossmember so it dosn't scrap on everything. Do you think it will look to low at a 4/6 with the cladding or should I stick with a 3/5 or 2/4. :dunno: (on a 2/4 or 3/5 I wont need to section the crossmember)

If Im not mistakn at least on front if you go lower than 2 you need to bag it

which requires some work. I did a 2/4 on mine and it sits nice with

305/45 22. Just a little rub if you crank hard on the wheel but overall

its a good look for the truck.

Call Air Ride Technologies, ask for Tony. Order a 5-link AirBar setup, and get the optional billet QA1 shocks. You'll love it and wonder how you ever drove a truck with leaf springs! You can start with just the bags and add the compressor & solenoids later if $ is a problem. I towed a 5000lb boat with this setup on my 02' reg cab & loved it.

anything more than a 3/4 drop and you'll be hitting the frame on a regular basis. if you go more, i recomend doing it with some custom work rather than just bolt on parts. contact Eaton Spring and tell them your plans. what you'll want is a spring rate of almost twice what you have right now in the front and rear. a very tight spring rate and springs made for the ride height you want will make the ride 10X's better and keep it from hitting.

I think the 2/4 Hotchkis kit would be the way to go since it lowers and improves the handling

What size tire are you going to run on your 20s?

I'd be concerned about the 3/5 banging on the frame in the rear, there probably isn't much travel. Maybe it's better to go ahead an C-notch and 4/6. I'm going to dig around for some 4/6 trucks I've seen before.

I have considered bags, but I don't have that kind of money now. I am looking to spend around $1000 or so now. I like the kit they used on the Joe Gibs truck on truckin. I also wouldn't care to much about laying frame, just want to drive around at like a 3/5 and then when driving through parking lots, cruising shows or hanging out want to be at a 4/6 or 5/7. If I did the bags, would I have to cut the bed up? If I did, I wouldn't do them because I need the use of my bed still. Also I don't want to have air tanks or anything sitting in the bed. I also wouldn't want to let the air out to fast. I think I would have to use smaller air lines :dunno: It may be an option to do the bags then get the compressors and air tank later on. I will give air ride tech. a call tomorrow and find out what the have to say.

Well called my boss a while ago, and maybe able to get a really good price on some of the stuff. I get everything from my work for cost, and have access to get air ride tech stuff. Got the part numbers and going to find out about the costs tomorrow.

I think a 4/6 would be awesome on your truck. Get a 4/6 from DJM or McGaughy's. It will come with a bolt on cnotch. You may have to buy new tires if you go lower than a 3/5. I don't know if the ss wheels will tuck on static drop or bagged truck. I have a 4/6 on my 04 rcsb. Only place I rub at is on speedbumps that are too high. Here is my truck. The tires on my truck are factory tires aswell. I don't rub or scrape. Very driveable stance.
