Bowtie70SS
I wonder why GM stopped putting underhood lights in the trucks? I had a light off of a 88-98 Chevy truck in the garage. It is one of the ones with a on/off switch and a little reel so you can pull the light out. It will reach the back of the truck and now I can see to check the oil/trans fluid at night or to just show off my new Radix (when I get in back). Sorry I don't have the GM part number but you can get one off of any 88-98 PU,Sub,Tahoe. Later Dave
tk68
Maybe chev thought a person didn't need a light under the hood because it would never break down?
Bowtie70SS
I'm with you on that one, but most likely they just wanted to save $10 per truck. I always thought that light was the best one ever invented for underhood or for changing a tire...etc
tk68
Yeah it does come in handy. It would be nice to check the oil in the morning when I wake up, or show off the goodies at night, but whatever.

yeary03SS
I had a light under the hood in my 01, I guess they stopped putting them in around 03. It hardly ever worked anyway.
desrtrat
one i believe was cost, and the outher was doing away with mercury in the switches. weather it is or not, that what the dealer told me when i bitched about it not being there. Bowtie70SS
This one is just an on/off switch...no mercury. My guess is also that fewer and fewer people are actually turning wrenches on their own rides.
