Avalanche SS?

Did Chevy ever make an SS Chevy Avalanche? Saw one today at a Publix shopping

center. It had 2 antennas up top, so it looked like an 03-05... It had SS on the sides.

and the back. It had LT back behind the doors. I'm thinking he might of had them put

on...Never saw one before. Looked like he had 20" factory wheels...................... :dunno:

Didn't see anything on the web that might confirm.

Well, the two antennas up top has absolutely nothing to do with an SS. Any Chevy truck with XM and OnStar has that. The emblems are easily had to badge anything you want as an SS. Seeing that LT emblem told you what you needed to know......it's an LT. He could've picked up factory twinkies anywhere, just like that badges.

To answer your question, Chevy did not make an Avalanche SS....although I don't see why not, hell they slap an SS badge on anything they can these days.

I know about the antenna's, It didn't have the one single antenna (fin) like they do now.

Just trying to pinpoint the year. It does have the 03- front end..... just trying to give

you an idea when the thing was made.

Thank you for the answer

  • 2 weeks later...

I saw an "Avalanche SS" on I-25 in Denver on the way up to Beaver Creek snowboarding on Wed. It had the twenty's and SS emblems (the one on the tailgate was crooked :dupe: ) There was a chic driving too... needless to say she didn't want to go so i could see if they actually put a 6.0 l in there. It had me looking twice though.... no front bumper either.

I saw a Tahoe SS cruising down the interstate one day. It was fake also.

I had a cable TV guy come to my house that was driving a "Tahoe SS". I questioned him, and of course he claimed it was legit. But here's a link to an old Motor Trend article on 3 concept SS's, including a standard cab Silverado SS!

Isnt this just a concept? Meaning none were ever mass produced?
