Towing With Sss

i would not recomend putting a fifth wheel on the ss, they really arent set up to tow. it would be to much weight. you really need a 2500 hd for that type of a tow. the only thing i have towed is 2 snowmobiles. probably around 1500 lbs. that was no problem.

check your payload rating (weight you can carry in the bed) first, also check your tires and check their load capacity! with a fifth wheel most of the weight is on the truck compared to a pull behind trailer where the weight car be distributed with a weight distribution hitch to the front of the truck and onto the trailer, plus fifth wheel hitches are ugly and take up all your bed space. after all those things are ok you will need to add air helper bags so the back end of your truck doesnt drag on the ground.

One more thing.... does anyone even make a fifthwheel trailer whose GVWR loaded is less then 10k?

The 5th wheel I found is 5500 dry and 7000GVW. My options are kind of between a 5th wheel and a 27' holiday trailer. I just figures the 5th wheel would be better, but if I had to get a tow behind I guess it would work too. As for the tires, they are stock so if GM rated the SS for 7500lbs, tires should be good.

I have a 22' travel trailer that weighs roughly 6K fully loaded with gear and water. The SS does ok with it, but that is with a brake controller and a weigh distributing hitch.

These trucks are not meant for 5th wheels. My suggestion...don't. You are putting yourself, your family, and other drivers at risk by towing a vehicle that is beyond the tow vehicle's capabilities.
