zsamboki
Hey I was just wondering what have you all towed with your SSS. I have read that max towing for my 05 SSS is 7500lbs. Has anyone ever towed more? I was just thinking of getting a 5th wheel, but don't know how the truck with the supercharger would like it. billsws6
i would not recomend putting a fifth wheel on the ss, they really arent set up to tow. it would be to much weight. you really need a 2500 hd for that type of a tow. the only thing i have towed is 2 snowmobiles. probably around 1500 lbs. that was no problem. dl11sec70dodge
check your payload rating (weight you can carry in the bed) first, also check your tires and check their load capacity! with a fifth wheel most of the weight is on the truck compared to a pull behind trailer where the weight car be distributed with a weight distribution hitch to the front of the truck and onto the trailer, plus fifth wheel hitches are ugly and take up all your bed space. after all those things are ok you will need to add air helper bags so the back end of your truck doesnt drag on the ground. One more thing.... does anyone even make a fifthwheel trailer whose GVWR loaded is less then 10k?
zsamboki
The 5th wheel I found is 5500 dry and 7000GVW. My options are kind of between a 5th wheel and a 27' holiday trailer. I just figures the 5th wheel would be better, but if I had to get a tow behind I guess it would work too. As for the tires, they are stock so if GM rated the SS for 7500lbs, tires should be good. CenWaSS
Tows without any trouble, light load though at 3500lbs minus the trailer.
desertss
\ tows easy even with boat hitched to back of camper. it opens to 25' has 2 king beds, and 2 other sleeping areas for kids. has more room than comparable "hard side" campers. SS Silv
I "tried" to tow a Bobcat mini-x I think it was around 8 to 9k lbs. Not a good idea.
nuzman
I've towed my '57 sedan on a tandem axle trailer. No problems at all.
Texas_Veteran
I just towed my 16 foot car trailer with my wifes 07 Colorado Crew Cab on it from North Carolina to Carlsbad, CA. The SSS handled it without a problem.
fox_forma
pulled my 16" enclosed trailer loaded up to around 6500-7k lbs from PA to AZ with no issues.
Lefty
I have a 22' travel trailer that weighs roughly 6K fully loaded with gear and water. The SS does ok with it, but that is with a brake controller and a weigh distributing hitch. These trucks are not meant for 5th wheels. My suggestion...don't. You are putting yourself, your family, and other drivers at risk by towing a vehicle that is beyond the tow vehicle's capabilities.
