detjoe
"Garrett Turbocharger. .58 a/r on the compressor and .90 a/r on the turbine. The compressor wheel is 61mm and has NO shaft play. Uses a t3/t4 flange." How would this do on a 6.0L...not shooting for records, low boost is cool, just want my project to have a turbo. What would be "wrong" with this size??? what would the spool and such be good/bad?? would I be out of the map, making it a big heat pump??? The guy wants $200... here is the pic of it. thanks
kaotik1
That looks to be a bit small for the 6.0. I could be wrong though, I thought a small 6.0 turbo was in the .68 area, or the 70's
hellbents10
It would work sorta ok on a 4cyl. As for your 6.0l go to heatpumps.com lol. Not to mention you would wonder why you couldn't get more then 10 degrees of advance timing at 6psi lol. It would be like having a banana in the tail pipe. detjoe
Thanks TJ, I was waiting for someone who knows more about turbos than me. what if I used it a a preturbo, and connected it to a larger turbo? I know it over my head:) Edited October 30, 2007 by detjoe (see edit history)

detjoe
should I tell him? he said he pulled it off a 7.1 L Chevy Diesel. and a guy on PT.net said it was off a fordpowerstrok...and had variable vanes or something? hellbents10
Right it will work fairly well on a diesel of nearly the same cubes as your motor. But remeber yours start making power when the diesel stops. Thats why it has such a small exhaust side with a really ristrictive wheel. hellbents10
hahaha, never thought about checking a actual site, I was just being a smart ass. What motor are you running in the rat? That can give me a better idea of what to aim you to.

hellbents10
I love it. If you want to spend under $500 on two internally gated turbos and make 600hp look no further then ebay. Everyone will tell you they don't work blah blah blah. We did a GTO with two of them t3t04e with .63 hot sides. It went 12.4@118 at 6psi!!! this was a bone stock car with 6l truck mani's flipped upside down and backwards. Stock exhaust with the cats too. detjoe
like the??? that cheap??? how does that work? the flange gets the hot and the round waste goes where??? did you run a crossover tube/balance tube. I am so all over this, I have one from a hot air grand national, it froze and has a funny 6 bolt flange thing on it.
JAMEST
I am running a T-76 on my 6.0L. That turbo you have mentioned will be too small, the intake side is too small. I have a .96 on the exhaust side and .76 on the intake and it runn very well. Good luck on your project!
blackvert
I think that is a Powerstroke turbo...try finding a Holset HX-55 from a cummins, they work fairly well as singles on a 351 ford. www.turbomustangs.com/forums they have an LS/GM forums despite the name.
