agreif Posted September 7, 2008 Report Posted September 7, 2008 Guys, have any of you guys ever noticed your rear seatbelts are wet when you pull them out? I just noticed on my dad's 04 Silverado SS that the seatbelt was wet. We can't figure out where the water is coming from unless it was from the third brake light. If it was there though, I would expect the headliner to be wet too, which it isn't? Any ideas? Not sure how water would be getting in there. Quote
smoke03 Posted September 7, 2008 Report Posted September 7, 2008 my third brake light leaked and the headliner wasnt wet. I dont know how it didnt get wet lol Quote
slammedbowtie Posted September 7, 2008 Report Posted September 7, 2008 haha my rear seats got wet in my old truck but that was prob a different reason. um.. i have heard some people say that their rear side windows leaked. maybe that could be a possibility? Quote
Bear Posted September 7, 2008 Report Posted September 7, 2008 Under the third brake light there is a channel inside the cab that will carry the water to each corner. Depending on which way the truck is leaning or if it is level, will dictate where the water goes. If it runs towards one of the corners it will dump on the seat belt area. Quote
tgreif Posted September 11, 2008 Report Posted September 11, 2008 OK, found the leak, right at the top middle of the brake light assembly. This must have been going on for a while because the hot wire to the cargo lights broke off due to corrosion when I removed the assembly and the cargo ground wire metal insert on the chassis plug is also damaged due to corrosion. Does the dealer carry either the chassis plug metal connector inserts or the entire plug assembly? I can solder either one to the existing wires but the cargo lamps are now non-functional due to this. Quote
